In Yellow Maple Valley, Lu Mingyuan confronted Chen Qiaoqian, stating his intent to pursue Dong Xuan'er for her resources. Chen Qiaoqian demanded the Foundation Pill back, declaring she would speak to her father about canceling their engagement. Enraged, Lu Mingyuan forcibly fed Chen Qiaoqian a Joyful Union Pill, refined with a lust poison from a Level 2 demon beast, expressing his eagerness to see its effects on her.

Han Li, who had been watching, wished to intervene but knew Lu Mingyuan's cultivation was superior. When Lu Mingyuan noticed Han Li, he declared his intention to eliminate him. Han Li engaged Lu Mingyuan in combat, but his newly acquired artifacts were not yet fully refined, preventing him from unleashing their true potential. Lu Mingyuan taunted Han Li for merely swinging them like common weapons.

Taking the taunt as a hint, Han Li used a Swift Travel Talisman as a projectile weapon, fatally striking Lu Mingyuan. Han Li then retrieved the Foundation Pill from Lu Mingyuan's body, recognizing the container as the one he had previously owned. Under the influence of the poison, Chen Qiaoqian became disoriented and embraced Han Li. Unable to snap her out of it, Han Li rendered her unconscious.

He deliberated on his actions, acknowledging that while he had acted heroically, killing a fellow disciple was a grave offense. Unwilling to silence her permanently, Han Li administered an Oblivion Pill to Chen Qiaoqian, ensuring she would forget the day's events, including his involvement. Meanwhile, in the Masked Moon Sect, Yan Ruyan's old illness resurfaced, leaving her comatose.

Her father, Yan Yunshan of the Yan Clan, desperately sought a Blood Spirit Flower from the dangerous Bloody Trial Ground to save her. Nangong Wan discussed the situation with her sect leader, revealing that Yan Ruyan was originally slated to lead the trial team. With Yan Ruyan incapacitated, Nangong Wan volunteered to go in her stead.

She aimed not only to retrieve the Blood Spirit Flower but also to secure another crucial item, a task she felt only she could safely complete. When the sect leader reminded her that only Qi Refining Stage disciples could enter, Nangong Wan explained that her Maiden Cycle Art allowed her to suppress her cultivation to the required level.

She emphasized her fondness for Yan Ruyan and the Yan Clan's century-long loyalty in defending the Yue Kingdom's border, affirming her resolve to succeed. Yan Yunshan, believing the Seven Sects were motivated by profit, prepared to offer the Yan Clan's quarry as payment for their help. Unexpectedly, Wang Chan, the Young Master of the Ghost Spirit Sect, arrived and questioned why Yan Yunshan would seek help from the Seven Sects, who monopolized the trial, instead of his Six Sects.

Yan Yunshan refused his offer. Undeterred, Wang Chan had his subordinates investigate and learned of Yan Ruyan's critical condition and the need for the Blood Spirit Flower. He was delighted, realizing that controlling the flower would give him leverage over the Yan Clan, a key strategic advantage in the impending war. On the day of departure, Chen Qiaoqian cast a curious glance at Han Li, leaving him to wonder if she retained any memory of their encounter.

Their master, Li Huayuan, explained that their entry into the Bloody Trial Ground would involve random teleportation. To help them regroup, the sect had implanted a Guiding Tether Art within each disciple, allowing them to sense fellow sect members nearby. He warned that this trial was a competition, with the number of spirit herbs collected influencing their sects' standing for the next sixty years.

Citing the Masked Moon Sect's abuse of power, he urged his disciples to prove Yellow Maple Valley's strength. At the same time, Wang Chan instructed his subordinates to prevent the Yan Clan from getting the Blood Spirit Flower and to eliminate elite disciples of the Seven Sects while remaining anonymous. With all preparations made, the sect leaders opened the entrance, and the disciples entered. Inside, Han Li found himself separated from his sect.

He heard Chen Qiaoqian calling out but remained hidden to protect the secret of his green vial, choosing to proceed alone. While he found common herbs, the ingredients for the Foundation Pill were not on his map. He then encountered Xiang Zhili traveling with disciples from other sects. Xiang Zhili explained that since each sect's map had different points of interest, collaboration was the wisest strategy.

He invited Han Li to join, but Han Li declined, claiming his abilities were too low to be of use, and quickly departed, puzzled by his senior's uncharacteristic behavior. As night fell, Han Li took refuge in a cave. He reflected on Xiang Zhili, who had entered the trial three times without reaching the Foundation Stage, and resolved not to suffer the same fate. A strange, bone-chilling rain began to fall, forcing him to use his spiritual energy for warmth.

Elsewhere, two elders observing the trial from outside made a wager on which sect would collect the most herbs. Nangong Wan, also watching, noted the high death toll and lamented the inconvenience of suppressing her cultivation. As the second day began, the Guiding Tether Art activated on several disciples, and their desperate pleas for help echoed through the trial grounds.
