The Great Ruler Episode 15 Recap
> The Great Ruler Recap
To gain access to the trial bases, students at the North Sect needed to exchange power points, with higher-level areas requiring significantly more. Mu Chen and Luo Li discovered that the Lei Territory, a forbidden area within the North Sect, demanded an astounding 18,000 power points. No one, apart from the North Sea Dragon Roc, had managed to enter it in over a thousand years, not even the human race's top master, Shen Cangsheng.
The entrance to Lei Territory was so secretive that only Headmaster Ling Xi knew its location. Recognizing the difficulty, Mu Chen advised Luo Li to temporarily abandon her plan to enter Lei Territory and focus on acquiring scrolls instead. Meanwhile, Qingshan used his power points to treat Sun'er to a variety of foods, fulfilling his promise to her.
Sun'er, observing Qingshan's humble nature, advised him to be more assertive and intimidating if he wanted to gain favor with her sister, their martial arts teacher. Liu Mubai, consumed by his grief and desire for revenge, trained relentlessly day and night to restore the Liu Territory. Qian'er, worried about his well-being, confronted him, asking if his life was now solely about revenge and rebuilding his clan. Mubai, in a moment of frustration, told her he had nothing else.
Qian'er, feeling partly responsible for the Liu Territory's downfall due to her father's involvement, promised to stay by his side and help him find his way back. She later shared with Luo Li her envy that Luo Li could be by Mu Chen's side, while she had a duty to fulfill. Luo Li, however, had her own mission.
She confided in Xuantong, revealing her need to venture into Lei Territory to find an Herbal Jade Knot, which was essential to cure Mu Chen's eyes. Once Mu Chen's sight was restored, she explained, she would have to return to the Luo God Clan to fulfill her destiny as their goddess. To spare Mu Chen from worry, Luo Li asked Qian'er and Qingshan to keep her efforts to earn power points through competitions a secret from him.
Qian'er, after initially questioning the secrecy, agreed after realizing Luo Li was Mu Chen's only hope for a cure. Elsewhere, the Black Dragon, whose old injuries had healed and power significantly increased with the aid of the Power of Whisper, conspired with Mo Xingtian to attack the Five Sects, aiming to unite Beiling under the Dragon Clan's rule. He instructed Mo Xingtian to infiltrate and capture Five Sects members.
Unbeknownst to them, Wen Qingxuan was closely monitoring their movements and those of the North Sect. She chose not to directly intervene, instead planning to "assist in her own way," believing the Black Dragon would eventually be forced to seek her help. She was informed of Mo Xingtian's orders to capture disciples. Luo Li and Xuantong dedicated days to competing for power points, but the amount they accumulated was still far from enough to enter Lei Territory.
Seeing her struggle, Qingshan offered to help. Luo Li, concerned about his current physical state, warned him that he wasn't fit for the arena. To demonstrate, she challenged him to a power control competition, which she handily won, proving that his aggressive fighting style was not suitable for such delicate techniques. Despite this, Qingshan insisted on helping, citing his debt to Mu Chen for saving his life. He also promised to maintain secrecy regarding their efforts.
Within the Great Pagoda, Jiu You informed Mu Chen that she sensed a powerful spiritual energy in the North Sect that was aiding her recovery. Mu Chen proposed that she guide him to its source, and once her powers were fully restored, they would cultivate together and earn power points. Later, during a martial arts class, a student who admired Mu Chen mentioned that all their peers were actively participating in competitions.
This made Mu Chen realize that Luo Li might also be engaged in similar contests. That evening, Mu Chen waited outside Luo Li's dorm, concerned for her safety in the trial base. He told her he wanted her to inform him before going there again. Luo Li, visibly exhausted, simply stated she was tired and needed rest, politely dismissing him without revealing her activities. Shortly after, Mr. He Yao approached Mu Chen, reminding him of his interest in formation diagrams.
Despite Mu Chen's initial reluctance, He Yao persuaded him, emphasizing that true power came from within and that sight wasn't the only way to perceive the world, encouraging him to try cultivating regardless of his blindness. He then led Mu Chen to a room where he demonstrated an advanced Power-gathering Circle that didn't require cumbersome spiritual pillars, astonishing Mu Chen with its efficiency.
He Yao then admitted his difficulty with large-scale protection formations, like the unbreakable one personally set by Headmaster Ling Xi at the North Sect. Observing Mu Chen's eyes, He Yao deduced that his vision was blocked by a spiritual spell intended to kill him, which, if left untreated, would eventually destroy his entire spiritual meridian system. However, he hinted that there might still be a cure.
Unbeknownst to everyone, Xue Lingzi had infiltrated the academy by impersonating a new North Sect student named Tang Chengbo. Luo Li, encountering Mu Chen, reiterated her warning about Mr. He Yao, sharing rumors that he used students for experiments and describing him as a "radical" and "unscrupulous" individual. Mu Chen, however, defended He Yao, arguing that he was merely dedicated to his research into spiritual spells and formations, areas in which he had made significant advancements.
He reminded Luo Li that He Yao had offered to help cure his eyes, dismissing her concerns as unfounded prejudice. Luo Li later went to He Yao's room and discovered him studying a forbidden skill of the Luo God Clan. This further intensified her suspicions, and she urgently warned Mu Chen again to stay away from him.
She revealed that the Luo God Seal was deemed forbidden because a clan member once used it to absorb the spiritual power of an entire city overnight, becoming a terrifying half-god, half-demon before thousands of Luo God Clan members sacrificed their lives to stop him, making even its mention taboo. Mu Chen, however, remained unconvinced, believing He Yao was simply researching methods to break such spells and that Luo Li's judgment was clouded by bias.
Qingshan guided Mu Chen to an empty area near the North Sect's Protection Circle. As Mu Chen attempted to discern the invisible barrier with his senses, Shen Cangsheng, escorting a dragon slave, suddenly appeared. Recognizing Mu Chen's unique talent for heart formations and his role in saving Mu Territory, Shen Cangsheng praised his courage. Mu Chen, in turn, recognized Shen Cangsheng as the top master of the Five Sects and the Dragon Roc List.
Seizing the opportunity, Mu Chen requested a favor: he asked Shen Cangsheng to fight Liu Mubai, hoping that a confrontation with his idol would help Mubai break free from his consuming grief and obsession with revenge. Shen Cangsheng, though initially hesitant, agreed to try his best. He then departed to address the matter of the dragon slave.
Back at the Dragon Clan's stronghold, the Black Dragon was furious after learning that Shen Cangsheng had single-handedly annihilated Mo Xingtian's dragon soldier squad, preventing them from breaking into the North Sect. He furiously ordered Mo Xingtian to convert the citizens of the towns surrounding the North Sect into dragon puppets, planning to use their lives as leverage to force the "righteous" human cultivators into submission.
At that moment, Wen Qingxuan appeared, subtly taunting Black Dragon about his repeated failures to breach the North Sect, implying that he would eventually have to beg for her assistance. Later, Liu Mubai confronted Qian'er, telling her to stop following him and declaring their engagement null and void since the Liu Territory no longer existed. A heartbroken Qian'er, however, reaffirmed her love and commitment, stating that she would wait for him for as long as it took.
Still concerned about Luo Li, Mu Chen first questioned Jiu You and then Qingshan about her recent activities and why their schedules no longer aligned. Both, bound by their promise, evaded his questions, claiming they didn't know or weren't close to Luo Li. Meanwhile, Luo Li had instructed Xuantong to keep an eye on Mu Chen to ensure he didn't seek out He Yao while she continued her arduous competitions for power points.
