The Comic Bang Recap
Episode 1 Recap
Zuo Qiandai mustered up her courage and decided to confess her feelings to Ye Qi. However, when she saw Ye Qi, the words she had prepared got stuck in her throat, and in the end, she didn’t confess that she liked him. She only admitted to being his fan, and just like that, her first confession came to an end. Ye Qi, being considerate, gave Zuo Qiandai a signed piece of paper.
Her first attempt at a confession unexpectedly turned into a fan encounter. Looking at the signed paper, Zuo Qiandai wanted to explain further, but Ye Qi suddenly invited her to come home with him, which left her pleasantly surprised. When she arrived at Ye Qi’s home, Zuo Qiandai found herself inexplicably in Ye Qi’s room. Watching him change clothes right in front of her left her stunned, and she even had the urge to flee.
But she was also worried that if she left, Ye Qi might bring another woman in—she couldn’t bear the thought of the man she loved being taken by someone else. Just as she was hesitating, Ye Qi had already finished changing and came out. As Zuo Qiandai stood there feeling helpless, Ye Qi asked her to help him sketch. It was then that Zuo Qiandai realized Ye Qi was actually a painter.
She had noticed the bruises on his wrist and around his eyes and thought he was a troubled youth—this was what had drawn her to him. However, after Ye Qi explained, she learned the bruise around his eye was from staying up late to draw, and the wrist injuries were from repetitive strain due to his drawing habit. Back home, Zuo Qiandai looked at Ye Qi’s autograph and discovered he was actually a very famous manga artist.
She often criticized his comics online, which now left her feeling awkward and at a loss. The next day, while riding the bus to school, her mind was filled with thoughts about how her relationship with Ye Qi might develop and how she should explain herself to him. At school, Zuo Qiandai kept secretly observing Ye Qi. Every time they met, she would immediately run away.
Ye Qi, having noticed Zuo Qiandai’s talent, thought she didn’t want to be his assistant, but still wanted to sincerely invite her. So he kept chasing after her, while Zuo Qiandai kept fleeing, thinking Ye Qi wanted to get someone to teach her a lesson and kept pleading to be let go. Ye Qi, on the other hand, believed she simply didn’t want to be his assistant and continued earnestly asking for her help. Eventually, the misunderstanding was cleared up.
Zuo Qiandai realized that Ye Qi wanted to invite her to be his assistant and had no idea about the things that happened online. Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai rode a tandem bike together, trying to find inspiration along the way. During a break, Ye Qi took out his sketchbook and began drawing again. His passion for manga changed Zuo Qiandai’s opinion of him—she no longer criticized him for still hand-drawing comics in the modern age.
Once again, Zuo Qiandai tried to probe into Ye Qi’s private life. Since he always drew sweet romance comics, she assumed he must have dated many girls. But Ye Qi had never been in a relationship. Upon learning he was still single, Zuo Qiandai was delighted. Watching Ye Qi concentrate so intently on drawing, Zuo Qiandai wanted to confess her feelings again, but when it came time to say those three words, she still lacked the courage.
At that moment, Ye Qi once again took out his notebook and wrote her another signed note. Looking at the autograph, Zuo Qiandai gave an awkward smile. In the end, she agreed to become Ye Qi’s assistant.
Episode 2 Recap
At night, Zuo Qiandai continued helping Ye Qi with inking his manga as his assistant. Ye Qi turned the feeling they had shared while riding the bike into a comic scene. However, when Zuo Qiandai saw the storyline he had drawn, she found it too clichéd and unappealing. Ye Qi then brought out a second version, but that one was overly melodramatic as well.
The next day, Zuo Qiandai attended her elective class and discovered that Ye Qi had also signed up for the same course. After they met, Ye Qi assumed Zuo Qiandai was very knowledgeable about the class and even jokingly asked her a question, but Zuo Qiandai actually didn’t know much about it. During the break, Zuo Qiandai asked Ye Qi why he chose to draw shoujo manga.
Ye Qi recalled how he started in this genre—back in high school, he had created a hot-blooded shounen manga and approached many magazines, but only one, called Shoujo Monthly, responded. They asked him to change his style, and Ye Qi gradually adjusted to suit their expectations. Zuo Qiandai later found out by chance that Ye Qi’s manga was based on a real person. Curious, she asked who the character Amei in the manga was.
Ye Qi told her Amei was a good friend, and even mentioned that Amei had spent the night at his place the previous Saturday. This made Zuo Qiandai misunderstand and assume they were in a romantic relationship. Unwilling to accept this, Zuo Qiandai wanted to meet the real-life inspiration for Amei. During lunch, she suddenly spotted Amei in the cafeteria.
Curious, she tried to get a look at Amei’s face, but was surprised—Amei didn’t look as adorable and charming as depicted in the manga and was even being pursued by male students. Unable to find Ye Qi, Zuo Qiandai happened to run into Ye Qi’s good friend Chai Ziyu. Chai Ziyu’s good looks instantly captivated her. At the same time, many girls downstairs were screaming Chai Ziyu’s name—he was famous in the school for his talent.
Zuo Qiandai noticed that many of Chai Ziyu’s mannerisms resembled the character Amei from the manga. Ye Qi quietly told her that Chai Ziyu was actually the real-life model for Amei and asked her to keep it a secret. Only then did Zuo Qiandai feel relieved, realizing Amei was actually a boy and not a romantic rival. Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai continued working on their project, while Chai Ziyu behaved oddly on the side.
Ye Qi realized Chai Ziyu wanted Zuo Qiandai to come ask him for guidance, so he tried to help fulfill this little wish. Zuo Qiandai followed his suggestion and asked Chai Ziyu for advice once. Feeling bored, Zuo Qiandai suggested they all have a drawing contest featuring architecture, only to discover none of the three were very good at drawing buildings. While they were working, Ye Qi suddenly received a message—his previous manuscript had been rejected.
His comics had always topped the charts before, but now he had dropped to second and never made it back to first place, showing that he had hit a creative bottleneck. After drawing for so long, he no longer knew what kind of fresh story could captivate readers. Zuo Qiandai suggested introducing a new character to push the story forward and continue attracting fans.
Chai Ziyu brought Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai to meet his good friend Lu Dao from the drama club. The moment they met her, Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai were deeply intrigued. Although Lu Dao was a girl, her style and charm captivated the other girls around her. Just as Lu Dao was showing off her charisma, the drama club president, Gu Zhengxing, came to drag her away for rehearsal, angry at her repeated tardiness. While chatting with Chai Ziyu, Zuo Qiandai once again sensed that something might be going on between Ye Qi and Lu Dao, and rushed off to find Lu Dao for confirmation.
Episode 3 Recap
Zuo Qiandai confirmed that there was nothing going on between Ye Qi and Lu Dao, but she accidentally discovered that another main character in Ye Qi's manga was actually based on Gu Zhengxing. She went to Ye Qi to ask about his relationship with Gu Zhengxing. Ye Qi explained how they had met—at a time when many people had rejected his work, Gu Zhengxing was the only one who thought his comics were good.
As they talked, the two began discussing the topic of criticizing others' work. Ye Qi angrily told Zuo Qiandai that if anyone dared to criticize his manga, he would make sure they paid for it. His tone suggested he might even get physical, which scared Zuo Qiandai. Secretly, she prayed that Ye Qi would never find out she had once criticized his comics.
Ye Qi felt that Lu Dao wasn't a suitable model for a manga character and asked Zuo Qiandai to look for someone else around her. Zuo Qiandai struggled internally—on one hand, she wanted to recommend herself; on the other, she felt embarrassed being observed by Ye Qi all the time. In the end, she still recommended herself. Inspired by the idea, Ye Qi happily agreed and thought Zuo Qiandai was a great fit as a character model.
As Ye Qi’s model, Zuo Qiandai was constantly under his watchful eye, which made her so awkward that she even forgot how to walk properly. Ye Qi observed her in great detail, even during class. When the teacher asked a question, many students raised their hands. Not wanting Ye Qi to think she was a poor student, Zuo Qiandai decided to participate. Thinking she wouldn't be chosen among all the Chinese students, she was surprised when the teacher picked her.
Standing up silently at first, she ended up accidentally answering the question correctly. Zuo Qiandai wanted to build a fun and likable persona in front of Ye Qi, so she took the initiative to befriend the people around her, hoping Ye Qi would think she was popular. While eating with Ye Qi, Zuo Qiandai secretly rejoiced, thinking Ye Qi had finally started to notice her.
Ye Qi showed her the complete personality profile he had compiled based on his observations of her. However, none of the traits Zuo Qiandai tried hard to show were included. Instead, it was filled with negative observations—flaws in her from head to toe. She hoped Ye Qi could at least include a few strengths, fearing that no one would like the character if it was based entirely on her shortcomings.
Worried that Ye Qi would continue to notice her flaws and that it might ruin her chances of pursuing him, Zuo Qiandai decided to introduce her friend Zhou Jieyue to Ye Qi. Just as she was looking for her, Zhou Jieyue happened to be running away from someone. It turned out Zhou Jieyue was an athletic girl. She had to attend a club activity, and Ye Qi developed a bit of interest in her.
He and Zuo Qiandai decided to go watch Zhou Jieyue's club event, where they ran into Ye Qi’s classmate Jiang Ruosong. That’s when Zuo Qiandai learned that Ye Qi used to play basketball but quit to protect his drawing hand. Inside the gym, Gu Zhengxing's eerie laughter echoed—Zhou Jieyue’s laugh was quite terrifying. It turned out her club activity involved playing basketball with Jiang Ruosong's team.
After observing, Ye Qi concluded that Zhou Jieyue would make a good example of a negative character. After watching, Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai were about to leave when it suddenly started to rain. Caught in the downpour, Ye Qi found some creative inspiration. As the two walked under an umbrella in the rain, they felt very safe together. Zuo Qiandai secretly hoped they could walk like this forever.
Just then, Ye Qi voiced the exact same thought she had in her heart. That evening, while Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai were discussing things at home, Jiang Ruosong suddenly burst into Ye Qi’s house, looking panicked and trying to hide from Gu Zhengxing.
Episode 4 Recap
As Ye Qi continued observing Zhou Jieyue, he became increasingly interested in her. Zuo Qiandai began to feel regretful and worried that Ye Qi’s growing interest in Zhou Jieyue might turn into affection. She started regretting introducing her best friend to Ye Qi as inspiration for his manga character. Even during class, she was distracted and absent-minded. While taking notes on character traits, Zhou Jieyue, sitting next to her, picked up her notebook and read it.
She noticed that the traits Zuo Qiandai had written were very similar to her own. In her excitement, Zhou Jieyue even ended up damaging school furniture. Girls like Zhou Jieyue, with a devilish aura, were particularly eye-catching and easily attracted attention. Meanwhile, Ye Qi's latest submission to the magazine received feedback pointing out numerous plot inconsistencies.
The editors noted that many scenes, which were supposed to reflect the inner emotions of the character Amei, failed to convey anything, leaving readers confused. Ye Qi reflected on how Amei should be portrayed and realized he didn’t understand her character well enough. He kept rereading his manga to figure out the problem and decided to live as Amei for a day to experience her emotions.
As part of that, Ye Qi delivered a lunchbox to Chai Ziyu while pretending to be Amei. That evening, Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai continued working on their project at home. Jiang Ruosong, who had fallen asleep, woke up to find that the music Ye Qi was listening to helped him sleep better. Curious, he decided to search for the singer "Lorelei," a singer known for her performances in the music room.
Jiang Ruosong, who had struggled to feel anything while performing on stage, wanted to find this Lorelei for inspiration—only to discover that Lorelei was actually Zhou Jieyue. Zuo Qiandai took Jiang Ruosong to meet her. Zhou Jieyue asked Jiang Ruosong to sing a new song as a test, but after listening, she felt that he wasn’t suited for singing.
Coincidentally, Jiang Ruosong visited the music club looking for Lorelei and misunderstood the situation, thinking Zhou Jieyue was being bullied within the club and felt sorry for her. Later, Ye Qi brought a lunchbox to Zuo Qiandai, who was initially delighted—until he also pulled out one for Zhou Jieyue, leaving Zuo Qiandai a little disappointed. Ye Qi explained that he wanted to live as Amei for a day to find inspiration.
Zuo Qiandai thought he was being devilish and didn’t plan to join him. But as she was leaving, she saw how delicious the lunch looked and couldn’t resist taking it after all. To find inspiration, Ye Qi decided to become the enemy of all the girls by "stealing Amei away. " Meanwhile, Zuo Qiandai was struggling to figure out how to grab Ye Qi’s attention again.
While she was searching for a way, she saw Ye Qi pushing Lu Dao in a cart, followed by a group of girls chasing after them. In the end, Ye Qi still failed to find inspiration and realized this method wasn’t suitable. Zuo Qiandai, seeing Ye Qi struggling so hard, felt frustrated too and decided she wanted to help him.
Gu Zhengxing found Lu Dao and told her that the musical project had to be stopped because no one was willing to help, no matter who he asked. Lu Dao secretly felt happy about this. Believing that Ye Qi liked girls like Zhou Jieyue, Zuo Qiandai decided to transform herself into a devilish girl to inspire him. She went to find Ye Qi, who happened to be there to collect his manuscript.
Zuo Qiandai mimicked Zhou Jieyue’s style, thinking she had really inspired Ye Qi—but to her surprise, he saw through it and told her not to go through all that trouble. This led to a misunderstanding, and Zuo Qiandai was heartbroken, feeling like Ye Qi hadn’t recognized any of her efforts. Angry, she walked away but later regretted it, thinking maybe Ye Qi had a point and she had overreacted.
Meanwhile, Ye Qi was seeking advice from Chai Ziyu on how to get Zuo Qiandai to forgive him. After a night of gaming, he realized that girls are happiest when shopping, so he invited Zuo Qiandai to go to the mall with him.
Episode 5 Recap
Zuo Qiandai accepted Ye Qi's invitation to go to the mall but deliberately arrived very late. After arriving, Ye Qi had been waiting for Zuo Qiandai and even wanted to buy her a gift. Zuo Qiandai thought Ye Qi was confessing to her and was quite happy. However, when it came time to pick out the gift, the outfit Ye Qi chose left Zuo Qiandai completely dumbfounded.
On the basketball team, because of Zhou Jieyue, many boys were unwilling to come out and play, making it nearly impossible to hold regular practices. Since the team members had previously seen Jiang Ruosong together with Zhou Jieyue, they recommended that Jiang Ruosong talk to her. At first, Zhou Jieyue was a bit nervous, but with strong encouragement from everyone, Jiang Ruosong gained some confidence and agreed right away.
Because Ye Qi brought out a sailor suit that made Zuo Qiandai uncomfortable, she refused to wear it. Ye Qi had no choice but to wear it himself. Zuo Qiandai knew Ye Qi was doing it to seek inspiration and admired his determination to become a professional artist. However, when Ye Qi asked for her help, Zuo Qiandai deliberately turned around and pretended not to know him.
Ye Qi took Zuo Qiandai to a figurine shop, hoping to find one that could inspire him. Coincidentally, Chai Ziyu was also there choosing figurines. From Chai Ziyu, Zuo Qiandai learned that the idea to ask her out today came to Ye Qi after playing a girls’ game all night. Realizing how much Ye Qi cared about her, Zuo Qiandai was very pleased and curious about what kind of figurine he would choose—wondering if he was still thinking about her.
Jiang Ruosong kept thinking about how to talk to Zhou Jieyue. After much deliberation, he left her a note to meet him on the rooftop, which all the girls mistook for a love letter. When he met Zhou Jieyue, Jiang Ruosong was still nervous, but he finally gathered the courage to talk to her about basketball. However, his actions caused some misunderstandings. Zhou Jieyue gave him the nickname “Little Song-Song.
” Jiang Ruosong began reminiscing about Lorelei from the music club and even thought to himself that Zhou Jieyue couldn’t compare—he kept praising Lorelei in his heart and admitted she was his goddess. Feeling overwhelmed, Ye Qi took Zuo Qiandai to blow off steam, which somehow ended up with them competing with a group of elementary school kids in solving math problems. Since Ye Qi was a math major, the kids couldn’t beat him at all.
Chai Ziyu discovered a great manga and contacted its author online, chatting with them in a senior-like tone. Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai spent the whole day together, and during a burst of inspiration, Ye Qi even drew a few manga pages. When Zuo Qiandai saw the manga, she thought Ye Qi was using it to confess to her. She shyly considered asking him directly, but just as she was about to speak, Ye Qi's phone rang.
It was a call from an editor wanting to discuss something about Gong Shihei. Zuo Qiandai, hoping to impress Ye Qi, asked to go with him to the publishing house, and he agreed. While playing badminton, Zuo Qiandai vented to Zhou Jieyue about Ye Qi, thinking he was pursuing her.
Zhou Jieyue then shared her thoughts on Jiang Ruosong—his delicate appearance triggered her protective instincts, and the gift he gave her was the first one she had ever received from a boy. Zhou Jieyue then sent Jiang Ruosong a message, which frightened him a bit. As he arrived at the gym, he saw Zhou Jieyue, who immediately ran away upon seeing him.
Episode 6 Recap
Jiang Ruosong kept running while Zhou Jieyue chased after him. Even when Jiang Ruosong boarded a bus, Zhou Jieyue followed and even struck a very dominant pose, which she thought was romantic. Jiang Ruosong, however, didn’t understand her actions. Once a seat was available on the bus, Jiang Ruosong sat down, and Zhou Jieyue immediately sat on his lap and even suggested they go on a date.
Zuo Qiandai went to find Ye Qi and saw his door was open, assuming it was left open for her. Inside, she found no one in the room, just Ye Qi’s computer on the bed. Curious about what Ye Qi was watching, she was about to check when Ye Qi returned. Zuo Qiandai happily chatted with him, still believing the door was left open for her, only to learn Ye Qi had just gone to take out the trash.
When Zuo Qiandai asked what he was watching, Ye Qi got another call from the editor—it was Qian Ye, now promoted to chief editor, returning. This frustrated Ye Qi, and he vented to Zuo Qiandai about Qian Ye’s past. Ye Qi took Zuo Qiandai to meet another manga artist next door who had also suffered under Qian Ye.
Zuo Qiandai was curious what kind of manga artist would be worn down by Qian Ye, only to find a very elegant girl who was also a graduate student. Coincidentally, You Li was working on a new mystery manga. Zuo Qiandai was intrigued and, upon reading it, realized it still followed Qian Ye’s demands. She urged You Li to resist, but You Li just accepted it as fate.
Zuo Qiandai planned to help Ye Qi resist Qian Ye and take back control of his manga. When they arrived at the publishing office, they met Qian Ye and found him to be self-important, which made Zuo Qiandai uncomfortable. During the discussion, Qian Ye didn’t let anyone else speak and insisted on his own ideas.
Zuo Qiandai kept speaking up for Ye Qi, but Qian Ye pulled out Gong Shihei’s harsh critique of Ye Qi’s manga, leaving Zuo Qiandai speechless and embarrassed. At home, she stayed frustrated. Ye Qi then called her, admitting that some of Qian Ye’s points were actually valid. The next day, Zuo Qiandai went to see Ye Qi, only to find he had completely abandoned his usual style and, with Chai Ziyu, was dressing up like a delinquent to find inspiration.
Still lacking inspiration, Ye Qi asked Zuo Qiandai to act like a delinquent too. Reluctantly, she agreed to help him. But inspiration still eluded him, so they went to explore elsewhere with Chai Ziyu. When they saw a tree, Ye Qi suggested climbing it like a real delinquent. Zuo Qiandai thought the idea was childish, but Chai Ziyu climbed the tree to help. Though pretending to be unfazed, Chai Ziyu was terrified and only cried about it after Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai left, desperately looking for a way down.
Episode 7 Recap
Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai sat on campus, unsure how to find real delinquents. Just then, they saw a group of students running and yelling angrily, thinking they had found some. But it turned out the students were just doing a good deed. Disappointed, Zuo Qiandai suggested they go outside campus and brought Ye Qi to an arcade. There, they approached a man who looked like a gangster, complete with tattoos.
Ye Qi found him a bit scary, but with Zuo Qiandai’s encouragement, he greeted the man—only to be mistaken for a provocateur. The tattooed man turned out to be a gang leader, and his underlings thought Ye Qi was picking a fight. Though scared, Ye Qi stepped protectively in front of Zuo Qiandai, ready to fight. Meanwhile, Chai Ziyu was still stuck in the tree and didn’t dare come down.
Zhou Jieyue happened to climb over a wall nearby and fell asleep under the tree while waiting for her bag. Ye Qi prepared to fight two underlings, but it turned out the "challenge" was just about comparing gaming skills. Ye Qi’s reasoning impressed them. Chai Ziyu, still stuck, secretly dropped Zhou Jieyue’s bag down. She picked it up and left, giving him hope—only for Lu Dao to show up next. Lu Dao eventually left too.
The gang members still acted menacingly, scaring Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai. Fearing injury to Ye Qi’s right hand, Zuo Qiandai shielded him. Taking the chance, Ye Qi grabbed her and fled. They hid inside a large bear costume. Zuo Qiandai saw that Ye Qi's right hand was injured and was heartbroken. Still stuck, Chai Ziyu waited for a moment when no one was around. Trying to descend quickly, he accidentally fell—but was caught by a passing student.
The gang couldn’t find Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai and finally left. Zuo Qiandai felt guilty, thinking Ye Qi hurt his hand protecting her. When she heard Ye Qi say he was protecting what mattered most, she thought he meant her and was overjoyed—until Ye Qi pulled out his drawing. It turned out what he wanted to protect was the manga in his bag.
Episode 8 Recap
Zuo Qiandai hid in the bathroom watching old videos criticizing Ye Qi’s manga. She felt she had been too harsh and wanted to make it up to him. So, she proposed a “no-phone challenge” with Ye Qi and Chai Ziyu—if nothing went wrong, it meant Ye Qi’s manga was right; if something did, her criticisms were justified. Zhou Jieyue also saw the challenge online and thought it was exciting.
Coincidentally, Jiang Ruosong came to find her, and she decided to try the challenge with him as well. Because Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai had no phones, they couldn't find each other. A man selling counterfeit phones spotted Ye Qi searching and tried to sell him one but got arrested. Jiang Ruosong went to the mall to find Zhou Jieyue but had no idea where to look. Zhou Jieyue used the mall broadcast system to tell him her location.
Zuo Qiandai wandered into a dessert shop, thinking Ye Qi wouldn’t be there, only to find him waiting for her. They were happy to see each other, confirming they both tried their best to find one another. Ye Qi wanted to buy her a cake but had no cash, and neither did Zuo Qiandai. Ye Qi offered his autograph instead, but the shop owner didn’t recognize him and had security escort them out.
With no phones and no money, Ye Qi decided to earn some cash using his skills. Zhou Jieyue and Jiang Ruosong went to a movie, but Jiang Ruosong was uncomfortable with Zhou Jieyue’s carefree attitude. Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai drew portraits for customers—Zuo Qiandai’s wasn’t well-received, but Ye Qi’s was appreciated. Zhou Jieyue watched movies differently from others. She even fell asleep on Jiang Ruosong’s lap, and afterward, her recap of the plot missed the main points entirely.
Jiang Ruosong thought she was doing it on purpose to humiliate him. Zhou Jieyue, seeing his reaction, felt it was a challenge and believed Jiang Ruosong might be interested in her. Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai had a great day without their phones, only to suddenly remember they had forgotten about Chai Ziyu—who was now at the police station, having been caught up with the counterfeit phone seller.
They went to pick him up and, on the bus ride back, Ye Qi reflected on the day and felt his manga was flawed. Zuo Qiandai and Chai Ziyu comforted him, but Ye Qi couldn’t shake the belief that Gong Shihei’s online critiques were right. Wanting to rebuild his confidence, Zuo Qiandai finally admitted that she was the person behind the Gong Shihei account. Ye Qi and Chai Ziyu were both stunned.
Episode 9 Recap
The bus slowly pulled up to the stop. After Zuo Qiandai revealed that she was the person behind the username Gong Shihei, the three of them felt very awkward. Chai Ziyu got off the bus helplessly, still worried about Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai who remained on the bus. Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai sat silently, neither of them speaking.
Zuo Qiandai thought that after this, Ye Qi would never forgive her again, and she braced herself for an impending storm. But to her surprise, Ye Qi wasn’t nearly as angry as she imagined. On the contrary, he was very calm and even told her that he had long been aware of her online identity. He wanted to have a face-to-face, in-depth discussion with her. Ye Qi brought Zuo Qiandai home and started discussing the characters in the comic.
When Ye Qi mentioned Zuo Qiandai’s criticism of the comic at the party, Zuo Qiandai thought he was going to publicly scold her, feeling extremely awkward and unsure of how to react, so she just nodded along with his words. After returning home, Zuo Qiandai forwarded some positive comments about the comic to Ye Qi to encourage him. She even wanted to leave some compliments for Ye Qi using her Gong Shihei identity, but Ye Qi refused.
While Zuo Qiandai was walking around campus, she suddenly received a message from Ye Qi calling for help. She thought Ye Qi had run out of ink, so she rushed to buy some and delivered it to his home, only to find him lying in bed with a cooling patch on his forehead.
Meanwhile, Chai Ziyu was also venting to someone about his unlucky day yesterday when he received the same emergency message from Ye Qi and immediately rushed over to his house. Lu Dao thought Gu Zhengxing was trying to steal her role, so she deliberately went to see him, using rehearsing lines as an excuse to test him. Gu Zhengxing thought Lu Dao had suddenly become serious and was very pleased.
During their line rehearsal, Lu Dao was deeply moved by Gu Zhengxing’s performance and even forgot her own lines. She voluntarily offered him the role, claiming she’d rather play Gu Zhengxing’s horse in the performance, even putting a horse head costume on herself. Gu Zhengxing was completely baffled by Lu Dao’s behavior and was about to ask her what was going on when he received an urgent message and tried to leave in a hurry.
He accidentally tripped and fell unconscious. Lu Dao thought Gu Zhengxing needed medical attention, so she carried him on her back through the campus while still wearing the horse head, causing a huge misunderstanding among the passing girls. Seeing that Ye Qi was sick, Zuo Qiandai wanted to make something nourishing for him.
She followed an online recipe step by step, but by the time she finished, she heard at the end of the video that the dish should not be given to people with colds as it could worsen the illness. Helpless, Zuo Qiandai had no choice but to taste it herself, only to find the taste made her want to throw up. After class, Jiang Ruosong ran into Zhou Jieyue in the campus corridor.
Seeing her rubbing her eyes, he thought she was still upset and worried that Gu Zhengxing had blocked him. He immediately tried to confirm it. Zuo Qiandai looked at the video’s claim that "anyone with hands can cook this dish" and doubted it, glancing between the unappetizing result she made and her own hands.
She wanted to make ginger soup for Ye Qi but ended up burning the ginger, so she could only offer him a bowl of hot water instead. Chai Ziyu and Gu Zhengxing also rushed to Ye Qi’s house with bottles of ink after receiving his SOS message. Ye Qi, sick and still needing to finish his comic, wanted the three of them to help him complete the next part of the comic.
After helping Ye Qi, Zuo Qiandai checked in on him and found him asleep, murmuring her name in his sleep. She felt deeply moved, only to realize that Ye Qi was actually thinking of a new character’s name for his comic.
Episode 10 Recap
The comic completed with everyone’s help returned to the top of the rankings, and the manuscript payment had already been deposited into Ye Qi’s account, making everyone very happy. Ye Qi wanted to express his gratitude. Zuo Qiandai and Chai Ziyu both thought Ye Qi was going to give them gifts and were excited. Instead, Ye Qi brought out two banners. His odd way of showing appreciation left them a bit disappointed.
When Ye Qi said he wanted to take everyone on a team-building trip, Chai Ziyu and Zuo Qiandai were happy again—until they heard it involved traditional Chinese massage. Disappointment returned. Eventually, Zuo Qiandai suggested they go to the beach during the day and do the massage in the evening, which Ye Qi accepted. Zhou Jieyue went swimsuit shopping with Lu Chen. Lu Chen was dressed very much like a boy, and it just so happened that Jiang Ruosong saw them.
Seeing Zhou Jieyue shopping with a "boy," jealousy surged in Jiang Ruosong’s heart. From an outsider’s perspective, Lu Chen and Zhou Jieyue even appeared quite close. Jiang Ruosong couldn’t take it and followed them under the pretense of helping Zhou Jieyue carry her bag. Once everyone was ready, they finally set off for the team-building trip, all in high spirits.
But Ye Qi’s clueless behavior kicked in again—on the bus, he didn’t even notice that Zuo Qiandai was wearing makeup, and his odd remarks made her visibly annoyed. At the beach, Ye Qi roamed with his camera, searching for inspiration. His targets: young couples, especially the girls. He made no attempt to be discreet, and all the boyfriends noticed.
When they approached Ye Qi to question him, he blatantly explained he was collecting reference material and even showed them the photos he had taken. With evidence in hand, the boyfriends chased after Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai. During their escape, Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai accidentally ended up hugging. After they shook off their pursuers, Zuo Qiandai suggested Ye Qi use this incident in his comic.
Just as she said this, some seaweed landed on Ye Qi’s head—it turned out Zhou Jieyue had thrown it. Jiang Ruosong had gotten pricked by the seaweed, and Zhou Jieyue helped him remove it, then angrily threw it away, accidentally hitting Ye Qi. Zhou Jieyue interrupted Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai’s conversation just as Gu Zhengxing and Chai Ziyu were about to go kayaking and invited Ye Qi to join.
Zhou Jieyue saw that Jiang Ruosong couldn’t participate due to his injury while the three guys were having fun, and she felt upset. She deliberately went up to greet them and secretly poked a hole in their kayak with a needle. While the three men were paddling, the kayak started slowly deflating, leaving them confused. From the shore, Zuo Qiandai casually commented, “If you open the valve, it’ll sink faster,” which inspired Zhou Jieyue.
She dove underwater, opened the valve, and the kayak instantly sank. That night, Jiang Ruosong and Gu Zhengxing both fell asleep on beach loungers. Lu Chen came by and secretly took a photo with Gu Zhengxing. Zhou Jieyue came to look for Jiang Ruosong, but he was asleep and listening to music, barely acknowledging her. Annoyed, she turned up the music volume to wake him up.
Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai came to a fish stall, where the vendor claimed the fish were "couple fish" and could only be bought in pairs. After they left, the angry Zhou Jieyue and Jiang Ruosong passed by. When Zhou Jieyue heard that these were all couples who ended up together, she furiously asked the vendor for a net and separated all the fish that were in pairs. That night on the beach, the three couples were all reaching out to each other.
