Ten Years Late Episode 35 Recap
> Ten Years Late Recap
Xinyi returned home to a chorus of "Honey, welcome home" from a talking bear, a pleasant surprise left by Ding Ang. As she walked further into the house, she found more of his thoughtful reminders, including folic acid, warmed milk, and prenatal music for their baby. Despite these efforts, Xinyi's anger resurfaced, and she began packing her clothes, determined to leave. Later, the friends gathered to discuss a strategy, realizing they had all been ensnared in Chu Yun’s schemes.
Xinyi arrived, asking Chengzhi how Chu Yun knew about his competition. Shuangshuang speculated that Chu Yun might have overheard her while she was on the phone. Xinyi expressed her frustration that no one had heeded her earlier warnings about Chu Yun. Ding Ang, shocked to learn Xinyi was leaving, argued with her again, prompting Xinyi to declare her intention to move to a quiet place away from gossip and rumors.
The plagiarism lawsuit against Chengzhi was proving difficult, as a private settlement would mean admitting guilt and falling further into Chu Yun’s trap. Everyone felt at a loss until Shuangshuang, recalling Chu Yun’s past claim that Mike was her fan, seemed to get an idea. Jin Ran sought out Chu Yun, urging her not to pursue Chengzhi. Chu Yun feigned innocence, claiming she was willing to endure any injustice.
Jin Ran then deliberately asked for her help in persuading Mike, offering money to resolve the issue. Chu Yun agreed to try and convince Mike. Meanwhile, Xinyi was on a business trip in another city. Shortly after checking into her hotel, she received a gift from Ding Ang.
Realizing he had used his computer skills to track her phone’s location, Xinyi grew furious and immediately instructed her assistant, Man, to find her another hotel, while also turning off her location services. Jin Ran met Chu Yun again, giving her money and asking about her past conflict with Ding Ang. Chu Yun insisted it was due to a lack of trust between Ding Ang and Xinyi. Suddenly, Chengzhi appeared, holding evidence of Jin Ran’s transfer to Mike.
He angrily confronted Jin Ran, questioning why he would do such a thing. Chengzhi explained that news of the payment had already spread in their professional circles, implying he had admitted plagiarism. Enraged, Chengzhi struck Jin Ran, accusing him of deliberately setting him up and declaring that Jin Ran was no longer his friend. Chu Yun, feigning concern, expressed outrage at Chengzhi for doubting Jin Ran, but Jin Ran told her to leave to prevent the situation from escalating.
Chu Yun later met with Gu Sa to report the smooth progress of their plan. Gu Sa, however, expressed a sense of unease, finding the success too effortless. Chu Yun pleaded with Gu Sa to quickly end everything and take Jin Ran away, as she no longer wanted to be involved. Chengzhi went to a bar to drink and clear his head. Chu Yun approached him, offering comfort.
Chengzhi then challenged her conscience, asking how she could live with herself after causing so much trouble and breaking relationships. He provoked her by recounting how Ding Ang gave her a chance to shine, only for her to make him homeless, and how she claimed to love Jin Ran but then caused him to lose a close friend. Losing her temper, Chu Yun blurted out that she had deliberately framed them all. Seizing the opportunity, Chengzhi secretly recorded her confession.
As Chu Yun realized she had fallen into a trap, the other friends emerged, declaring that she would never succeed in tearing any of them apart. Cornered, Chu Yun revealed that she too had been manipulated by someone else. Jin Ran confronted Gu Sa, who attempted to steer the conversation toward business. Jin Ran directly accused her of orchestrating the entire scheme, then revealed that he and Chengzhi had set a trap for her.
Gu Sa admitted her involvement, but insisted her actions were driven by genuine love for Jin Ran and a desire to be with him. Jin Ran reiterated that everything he did was to be with Yuan Lai, sternly warning Gu Sa that from that moment on, she would be held responsible for every word she spoke and every action she took. Chengzhi and Shuangshuang prepared for the court hearing.
Chengzhi, however, reflected on Chu Yun’s confession, realizing that her deep-seated grievances, which he felt he was partly responsible for, had made her vulnerable to Gu Sa’s manipulation. He decided that they should not pursue further charges against Chu Yun, merely seeking to clear his name. Shuangshuang, though initially hesitant, agreed with his decision. The five friends celebrated their legal victory.
They each expressed a sense of shared responsibility for Chu Yun’s plight, acknowledging that they might have been too harsh on her in the past. Shuangshuang, however, declared that Chu Yun’s machinations had, ironically, only served to strengthen their friendship. As Shuangshuang was proudly recounting her contributions, Professor Zhao, Chengzhi’s father, arrived. He inquired about who won the case and came up with the winning strategy. Shuangshuang shyly raised her hand.
To everyone's surprise, Professor Zhao was very pleased with Shuangshuang's performance and finally accepted her. Ms. Hua called Jin Ran, informing him that she was returning to Japan to see his father, believing he must have an important reason for wanting to meet after all these years. Jin Ran drove his mother to the airport, questioning why she had to go when his father had been absent for over two decades. Ms. Hua urged him not to live with regrets.
After she departed, Yuan Lai handed Jin Ran a letter from his father. Jin Ran initially refused to forgive him, but Yuan Lai gently persuaded him to reconsider. She pointed out that clinging to hatred only harms oneself, and that forgiving others can be a path to personal liberation. She also reminded him that, regardless of the past, his father was responsible for his existence. Jin Ran, moved by her words, promised to give it serious thought.
Jin Ran began planning a marriage proposal for Yuan Lai and enlisted Chengzhi’s help, who enthusiastically pledged his support. Chengzhi then showed Jin Ran negative news about Chu Yun, which also intertwined Jin Ran, Yuan Lai, and Gu Sa, causing Jin Ran to feel a sense of foreboding. Chu Yun, seeing her reputation in ruins and her distraught reflection, was terrified. Gu Sa then called her, and Chu Yun furiously accused Gu Sa of ruining her life.
Gu Sa, however, subtly manipulated her further, implying that the real culprit was the person who knew all her secrets. Swayed by Gu Sa's insinuation, Chu Yun once again contemplated taking further action. Chengzhi and Shuangshuang met with Yuan Lai. Shuangshuang felt Yuan Lai’s attire was too casual for the impending event and insisted she dress up beautifully. Yuan Lai, sensing their strange behavior, realized something important was about to happen.
Chengzhi quickly intervened, and they urged Yuan Lai to meet Jin Ran at 3 PM that afternoon, emphasizing that she should not miss it for any reason. Understanding that Jin Ran was going to propose, Yuan Lai left, dressed in her most beautiful clothes. Ding Ang, Chengzhi, and Shuangshuang busily prepared the proposal ceremony, full of anticipation. Jin Ran, holding the engagement ring, also brimmed with expectation.
At that very moment, Gu Sa arrived to deliver some documents, but suddenly collapsed. Jin Ran rushed to her side and soon discovered that she was taking medication for chemotherapy, revealing that she had cancer.
