Meanwhile, Du Xiaosu received a call from her assistant, who had been sent to supervise the construction site. Lin Xiangyuan later approached He Qunfei, expressing his surprise that Lei Yuzheng had allowed him to stay at Yutian. He admitted that he was staying not for personal gain but to make up for his past mistakes. He Qunfei, acknowledging that both of them had wronged Lei Yuzheng, listened as Lin Xiangyuan apologized for his past actions, explaining that he had been driven by a desire for money and respect.
He Qunfei, who also came from humble beginnings, shared his perspective, emphasizing Lei Yuzheng's trustworthiness as a boss and his own loyalty. Lei Yuzheng confessed that he hadn't believed in love until he met her, Du Xiaosu, and then truly understood its meaning. Du Xiaosu, however, stated that she used to believe love meant unconditionally choosing, waiting for, and forgiving someone, but after everything, she felt she could no longer do that. She apologized, and Lei Yuzheng, understanding her stance, simply said "It's okay," and bid her good night before leaving.
Lin Xiangyuan, resolved to turn himself in, presented Jiang Fanlv with divorce papers. Jiang Fanlv was devastated, pleading with him not to go to jail. She reminded him that Lei Yuzheng himself suggested he stay at Yutian to make amends. Lin Xiangyuan explained that Lei Yuzheng's forgiveness stemmed from his good nature, but that he needed to take responsibility for his crime to clear Lei Yuzheng's name, allowing Lei Yuzheng to return to Yutian as the innocent party.
Jiang Fanlv, terrified at the thought of him in prison, still refused to divorce him. She tore up the divorce papers and revealed a pregnancy test report, confirming she was pregnant. Lin Xiangyuan was overwhelmed with emotion and shock. Worried about her suffering, he urged her not to keep the baby. Jiang Fanlv staunchly refused, declaring that she had made her decision and would wait for him with their child, no matter how long he was gone.
