Tears In Heaven Episode 25 Recap
> Tears In Heaven Recap
Lin Xiangyuan unexpectedly encountered his old friend Li Mengnan. They had dinner together, during which Li Mengnan happily shared details of her family life, showing pictures of her husband, an IT technician, and their five-year-old son, Dudu. Lin Xiangyuan expressed his envy, noting her perfect family. He then revealed that he was married to Jiang Fanlv from Shanghai, who was pregnant, and that her father was the company's chairman.
Li Mengnan showered him with praise for his success in Shanghai and for marrying a wealthy woman, though Lin Xiangyuan found himself unable to voice his true feelings about his marriage. Li Mengnan then asked for his help with a business meeting, and Lin Xiangyuan readily agreed. Lin Xiangyuan accompanied Li Mengnan to her meeting with Shangguan Boyao, a childhood friend of Lei Yuzheng.
Shangguan greeted Lin Xiangyuan with thinly veiled sarcasm, acknowledging him as the "big shot" President of Yutian Group. Li Mengnan presented her project, describing an ultramodern design for Shanghai architecture. Although Shangguan initially found the project "very good," he then questioned Lin Xiangyuan's potential involvement. When Li Mengnan confirmed she planned to invite Lin for his business expertise, Shangguan stated he would reconsider their cooperation.
He proceeded to publicly accuse Lin Xiangyuan of manipulating his way to power, replacing Lei Yuzheng at Yutian, and relentlessly pursuing Jiang Fanlv, sarcastically asking Lin to teach him his "scheming mind and means." Lin Xiangyuan, visibly angered, told Shangguan not to involve innocent people in their feud and promised not to interfere if Shangguan cooperated with Mengnan. Shangguan scoffed, warning Li Mengnan to stay away from Lin to avoid betrayal.
Displeased by Shangguan's disrespectful attitude, Li Mengnan asserted that her company would not force a partnership and demanded respect for her friend, then decided to leave with Lin Xiangyuan. Outside, Li Mengnan asked why Shangguan Boyao had judged Lin Xiangyuan so harshly and inquired about Lei Yuzheng. Lin Xiangyuan explained that Lei Yuzheng was the former president of their company, now in jail due to a case.
He claimed he was merely entrusted with the presidency when the company was in disarray, but Shangguan, as Lei Yuzheng's close friend, believed Lin had stolen Lei's position and refused to hear otherwise. Li Mengnan, however, viewed Lin's rise to presidency as a sign of his ability. Lin Xiangyuan apologized for Li Mengnan's wasted trip and offered to help with her project, but she dismissed his apology, suggesting he instead take her sightseeing around Shanghai. Lin Xiangyuan happily agreed.
Meanwhile, Zou Siqi, having waited all day for Shangguan Boyao's call, eventually called him herself. Shangguan claimed to be too busy and abruptly hung up, leaving Siqi frustrated. At the detention center, Shangguan Boyao visited Lei Yuzheng, proudly recounting how he had humiliated Lin Xiangyuan in front of a business associate and terminated a cooperation as a way to "help out."
Lei Yuzheng questioned why he targeted an innocent person, but Shangguan merely stated these were "small troubles," eagerly anticipating Lei Yuzheng's release so they could "do something big." Lei Yuzheng sternly told him to stop causing trouble, emphasizing that he was a prisoner with no future plans and asked Shangguan not to visit him anymore, suggesting they could meet after his release. As Shangguan left, Lei Yuzheng told him to go back.
In another part of Shanghai, the housekeeper found a hotel receipt with Lin Xiangyuan's name on it in his pocket and gave it to Jiang Fanlv. From the receipt, Jiang Fanlv realized that Lin Xiangyuan had not returned home for the Spring Festival, instead staying in a hotel. Lin Xiangyuan spent several happy days showing Li Mengnan around Shanghai. He confessed that these days were the happiest and most relaxed he'd had in a long time.
Sensing his underlying unhappiness, Li Mengnan asked how he was truly faring. Lin Xiangyuan lamented that despite achieving the success he once dreamed of – wealth, a nice car, an apartment, and a rich wife – he was "not happy at all," feeling bored and lacking common ground with his wife. Li Mengnan advised him to let go of the past and believe that things would get better.
Later, as Lin Xiangyuan walked Li Mengnan back to her hotel, she got sand in her eye, and he gently helped blow it out. Unbeknownst to them, Jiang Fanlv and her friends, who were having tea nearby, witnessed this interaction. Her friends remarked on their "affectionate" appearance, leading Jiang Fanlv to mistakenly believe Lin Xiangyuan was being intimate with another woman.
When Lin Xiangyuan returned home late that night, Jiang Fanlv confronted him with the hotel receipt from the Spring Festival. He admitted to staying in a hotel instead of going home. Jiang Fanlv then angrily revealed what she had seen that afternoon, accusing him of having an affair. Despite Lin Xiangyuan's attempts to explain that Li Mengnan was merely an old friend, Jiang Fanlv became enraged, calling Li Mengnan a "home-wrecker."
Jiang Jin, alerted by the commotion, came out to intervene. Lin Xiangyuan tried to explain to Jiang Jin that Li Mengnan was merely an old friend he was accompanying. However, Jiang Fanlv refused to believe him, angrily threatening divorce. Lin Xiangyuan, in turn, became furious, accusing her of deliberately embarrassing him, slandering him, and insulting his friend.
He exclaimed that he didn't need to explain, as she never listened or treated him as her husband, and accused her of wishing he had affairs so she could divorce him. He pleaded with Jiang Jin for fairness, stating he could tolerate Jiang Fanlv's temper but not her fabricating stories to force a divorce or mocking his innocent friend. Jiang Jin tried to calm Jiang Fanlv, suggesting she might have misunderstood.
Later, Jiang Jin spoke with Lin Xiangyuan privately about the hotel stay during the Spring Festival. Lin Xiangyuan explained that his mother had insisted he bring his wife home, or not come home himself. Caught between his mother's demands and Jiang Fanlv's refusal to travel, he felt embarrassed and decided to stay in a hotel to calm down.
Jiang Jin acknowledged that they had overlooked Lin's feelings and advised him against hastily seeking divorce, believing that Fanlv, though wayward, was not inherently bad and would understand with a proper explanation. He encouraged Lin to bring his mother to Shanghai when the weather improved, emphasizing her sacrifices in raising him, and suggesting both he and Fanlv should care for her, with Fanlv offering a sincere apology to his mother. Eight months quickly passed, and Lei Yuzheng's sentence was complete.
An officer, Liu Siyang, congratulated him on his newfound freedom. Lei Yuzheng reflected on how "luxurious" freedom felt and stated he would never forget his time in detention. Liu Siyang encouraged him to view his time there as a period of suffering or practice, urging him to leave and move forward without looking back once he walked out.
Another officer, Officer Liang, also wished him well, hoping he would live a good life and never have to return, despite the detention center's door always being open. Lei Yuzheng revealed he hadn't informed his family of his release, deeming it "not a glorious thing." Officer Liang advised him not to dwell on the past and urged him to leave soon to catch the bus from the remote location.
Lei Yuzheng then stepped out of the detention center and observed the bustling street, a mix of emotions swirling within him. With heavy steps, Lei Yuzheng returned to his long-absent home. The butler, Duan, rushed out, embracing him in tears, overjoyed at his return and attributing his father's earlier intuition to telepathy. Inside, Lei Yuzheng found his aging father, Lei Ting.
During dinner, Lei Ting asked if he was back from abroad and if his affairs were settled, showing no clear sign of recognition but acting as if Lei Yuzheng had simply been away on a trip. He then worriedly inquired if Lei Yuzheng was hungry and instructed Duan to prepare a celebratory meal, including Lei Yuzheng's favorite crystal shrimp. Later, Lei Yuzheng offered to wash his father's feet.
While doing so, Lei Yuzheng apologized, acknowledging he had caused his father suffering and damaged Yutian, and promised to take care of him. However, Lei Ting dismissed his apologies and rejected his offer of care, suggesting he should focus on the company, almost treating him like a child. Lei Ting then suddenly looked at him and asked, "Who are you? You are not my son."
Lei Yuzheng frantically tried to explain that he was his son, Yuzheng, and reminded his father about how his nose used to resemble his. But Lei Ting refused to believe him, claiming many noses look similar, and calling him a "liar," demanding that Duan drive him away. Duan tried to remind Lei Ting of his daily anticipation for his son's return, but Lei Ting remained adamant.
Distraught, Lei Yuzheng confessed his past mistakes, accepting any punishment but desperately pleaded with his father not to disown him. Du Xiaosu arrived at the Lei residence to visit Lei Ting and found Lei Yuzheng sitting outside the door, looking despondent. Overjoyed to see him released from prison, she rushed forward and embraced him tightly. However, noticing his troubled expression, she asked what was wrong, quickly deducing that his father had likely driven him out.
Du Xiaosu tried to comfort him, explaining that Lei Ting's inconsistent memory was due to his illness and that many others, including herself and the butler, had been similarly "kicked out." She urged Lei Yuzheng to stand up from the cold. Lei Yuzheng replied that he couldn't go inside and didn't want Du Xiaosu to go in either, saying that Uncle Duan was enough and he didn't want to further upset his father.
He then thanked Du Xiaosu for caring for his father during his absence but firmly stated that he was now capable of handling his father's care himself. Without waiting for her response, Lei Yuzheng abruptly walked away, leaving Du Xiaosu calling out his name in frustration.
