Lin Xiangyuan went to a bar to drown his sorrows, where Xie Li found him. Xie Li congratulated him, wishing him an early presidency of Yutian, and noting that Lei Yuzheng had "quite a fall this time" and would take a while to recover. He encouraged Lin Xiangyuan to seize the opportunity.

Lin Xiangyuan responded that he would "never take advantage of other people" and had wanted to "fight with Lei Yuzheng face to face" to prove his capability, adding that he felt no joy in this victory. Xie Li, however, emphasized that "the result means everything," and as long as Lin Xiangyuan became the president of Yutian, no one would care about the means he took.

He added that with Lei Ting in the hospital and Lei Yuzheng in jail, it was Lin Xiangyuan's time to take charge. Later, Lin Xiangyuan urged Jiang Jin to take full control of the Entertainment City project. Jiang Jin was hesitant, admitting he didn't know much about the project and feared taking over hastily might trap him. He joined a board meeting where, in the absence of Lei Ting and Lei Yuzheng, the directors were anxious.

Jiang Jin suggested electing a temporary president, and the board unanimously recommended him. Jiang Jin, despite his initial reluctance, accepted, stating he would "take this position for now" for the "overall interests of the company." He then highly recommended Lin Xiangyuan to oversee the Entertainment City project, citing Lin Xiangyuan's many years as his assistant and his proven ability.

Jiang Jin acknowledged that people might gossip because Lin Xiangyuan was his future son-in-law, but he believed entrusting Lin Xiangyuan with the task would benefit Yutian and the project. Lin Xiangyuan confidently stated he would not let anyone down. Meanwhile, Lei Yuzheng was sentenced to eight months of detention for disclosing confidential information. He was transported to the Jiangkan Detention Center. Upon arriving at his cell, his cellmate, Liu Siyang, introduced himself and noted Lei Yuzheng's unaccustomed silence.

Lei Yuzheng, however, remained unresponsive. Du Xiaosu learned of Lei Yuzheng's imprisonment and was deeply saddened, regretting her inability to help him, especially since there was no evidence to benefit him and he had taken all responsibility himself. Around the same time, He Qunfei decided to break up with Zou Siqi. He felt responsible for Lei Yuzheng's imprisonment and Lei Ting's coma, stating he couldn't "just sit here and have dates" with her while others suffered.

Zou Siqi, angrily upset, agreed to go their separate ways, warning him not to regret it, but He Qunfei insisted there was "nothing to regret." That night, Lei Yuzheng couldn't sleep. Liu Siyang tried to engage him in conversation, remarking that if Lei Yuzheng continued to be silent in their small cell, they would both "go crazy."

When Lei Yuzheng remained indifferent, Liu Siyang provoked him, saying Lei Yuzheng seemed like "someone who has power and can't bear with living in jail." He scorned "rich people" who are "arrogant when nothing happens" but "wilt like a frosted eggplant" when trouble strikes, declaring he looked down on such "too weak" people. Lei Yuzheng, enraged, started a fight with Liu Siyang until prison guards intervened. Jiang Fanlv reported to Jiang Jin about He Qunfei violently beating Lin Xiangyuan.

Jiang Jin suspected Lin Xiangyuan might have framed Lei Yuzheng. Lin Xiangyuan vehemently denied it, expressing disbelief that Jiang Jin, after all their time together, wouldn't trust him. He suggested He Qunfei was simply distraught over Lei Yuzheng and mistakenly saw Lin Xiangyuan as an enemy due to his association with Xinsheng. Jiang Jin defended Lin Xiangyuan, calling He Qunfei "shortsighted." Jiang Fanlv didn't believe him at all.

Lin Xiangyuan challenged her, asking if she truly believed he was capable of harming Lei Yuzheng or was cunning. He emotionally reminded her that he loved her despite her past affections for Lei Yuzheng, and he couldn't bear her mistrust. He even swore he had done nothing against Lei Yuzheng and offered to go to jail in Lei Yuzheng's place if they didn't believe him. Jiang Jin calmed him down and urged Jiang Fanlv to trust her fiancé.

Jiang Fanlv, still upset, angrily retreated to her room. Lin Xiangyuan reaffirmed to Jiang Jin his commitment to taking care of Jiang Fanlv his whole life. At the medical room, the guard questioned Lei Yuzheng and Liu Siyang about their fight, but both remained silent. The guard scolded Lei Yuzheng, warning him not to vent his anger on his cellmate and reminded him to read the prison rules.

He explained that they were housed together because they had similar charges and needed to reflect. He also revealed that Liu Siyang had a serious heart condition, which meant he was excused from strenuous work, and warned Lei Yuzheng of the severe consequences if he continued such behavior. Du Xiaosu went to the detention center to visit Lei Yuzheng.

However, the guard informed her that Lei Yuzheng refused to see her and asked her not to come again, though he was worried about his father. Du Xiaosu reassured the guard that Lei Ting was doing well and asked him to convey this to Lei Yuzheng, also entrusting him with some books and food for Lei Yuzheng. Afterward, Du Xiaosu contacted He Qunfei to find out Lei Ting's hospital. She then visited Lei Ting, who was still in a coma.

Du Xiaosu held his hand, tearfully imploring him to wake up soon, as Yutian was at risk of being lost and Lei Yuzheng would have gone to jail for nothing. Meanwhile, Lin Xiangyuan was appointed Yutian's General Manager. One of his first actions was to dismiss He Qunfei. He Qunfei confronted Lin Xiangyuan, demanding a reason for his termination. Lin Xiangyuan claimed it was a board decision to simplify the company structure and reduce staff due to Yutian's difficulties.

He Qunfei challenged whether it was the board's decision or Lin Xiangyuan's, asserting that only Lei Yuzheng could decide his employment. Lin Xiangyuan mocked Lei Yuzheng's current inability to protect himself, let alone others. He then bluntly told He Qunfei that given the punch he received from him, it was impossible for He Qunfei to stay at Yutian, advising him to find work elsewhere.

He Qunfei threatened to appeal to the board, but Lin Xiangyuan scoffed at the idea that they would care. Just then, Jiang Fanlv arrived. She confronted Lin Xiangyuan for firing loyal employees and now He Qunfei. Lin Xiangyuan dismissed it as normal staff reduction, but Jiang Fanlv insisted he could not fire He Qunfei. She threatened to appeal to powerful old shareholders like Mr. An and Uncle Wang.

Faced with her determination, Lin Xiangyuan reluctantly agreed to let He Qunfei stay. Jiang Fanlv clarified to He Qunfei that she intervened not for him, but for Lei Yuzheng, to protect his people. During recreation time in the detention center, an inmate leader was rude and started a fight with Liu Siyang. Lei Yuzheng, unable to tolerate the injustice, intervened and severely beat the inmate leader.

Du Xiaosu returned to the detention center, insisting to He Qunfei that she had to see Lei Yuzheng. Captain Liang informed Lei Yuzheng that He Qunfei was there, accompanied by the girl who frequently visited him despite his rejections. Lei Yuzheng, despite a visible nosebleed which he dismissed as "not a big deal," eventually agreed to meet them.

Du Xiaosu expressed her concern, telling Lei Yuzheng that they all missed him and wished him well so he could get out soon. Lei Yuzheng, however, spoke harshly, saying there was "no such need" for her visit if it was only to tell him these things. He accused her of being "self-righteous" and questioned her intentions, asking if she wanted to be friends with a criminal. He belittled her efforts, asking if she could "stay in jail for me, or.

. . help me fly out of here." Du Xiaosu countered, asserting that her friendship was not based on his fame or social status. He Qunfei tried to intercede, explaining how worried and "pined away" Du Xiaosu had been while trying to help him. Lei Yuzheng continued his tirade, calling her "mawkish" and suggesting her visits were merely to witness him, a once proud man, "fall to the bottom" to satisfy her "curiosity and compassion."

He concluded by telling her to "live your life well and don't think about me again, or come here to visit me. Not to mention caring about me. Please leave." Tearfully, Du Xiaosu responded, "Lei Yuzheng, I. . . we will wait for you." She then asked He Qunfei to speak with Lei Yuzheng while she left the visiting room. He Qunfei advised Lei Yuzheng not to treat Du Xiaosu that way, acknowledging her struggles.

Lei Yuzheng admitted he knew how hard it was for her, and precisely "because I know it, I have to push her away." He felt it would be "too selfish to waste all her time and effort on a criminal" and didn't want to involve her. He explained that since He Qunfei had brought her, he had "no choice other than to say all those words." Troubled, Lei Yuzheng returned to his cell.

Liu Siyang noticed his preoccupation and tried to initiate a conversation, but Lei Yuzheng was reluctant. Liu Siyang candidly remarked on the fleeting nature of women's concern for prisoners. He asked Lei Yuzheng about his crime, learning it was a "financial case" involving "disclosing confidential information of a public company," for which Lei Yuzheng claimed he earned "not a cent." After lights out, Liu Siyang lit a candle to continue reading.

When Lei Yuzheng questioned if it was allowed, Liu Siyang admitted it was against regulations but claimed he had "never been caught." Lei Yuzheng recognized his books as "When Genius Failed" by Roger Lowenstein and "The Money Game" by Adam Smith, surprising Liu Siyang. Lei Yuzheng couldn't help but become curious about him, but Liu Siyang remained silent.
