Zou Siqi waited anxiously at home for Du Xiaosu, who was late from work. She called He Qunfei, learning Du Xiaosu was still working overtime. Meanwhile, Lei Yuzheng pulled up to Du Xiaosu's building. Seeing that she had fallen asleep, he patiently waited for her to wake up, not wanting to disturb her. When Du Xiaosu finally awoke, she quickly thanked him for the ride and apologized for her drunken remarks, asking him to forget them as a joke.
Lei Yuzheng assured her that he appreciated hearing her unfiltered thoughts, remarking that it was good to hear someone speak the truth. As she was about to leave, Lei Yuzheng asked about her sudden breakup with Shao Zhenrong, wondering if it was due to another person or a secret trouble. Du Xiaosu simply attributed it to "destiny" and the need to "let it go" to find freedom.
She also reminded Lei Yuzheng to shed his own mental burdens and move forward lightly, to which Lei Yuzheng questioned who could truly let go. The next morning at the office, Du Xiaosu tried to avoid Lei Yuzheng, Lin Xiangyuan, and Jiang Fanlv by waiting for another elevator, but Lei Yuzheng called her into theirs. Inside, Jiang Fanlv attempted to impress Lei Yuzheng by proudly displaying a contract, secured quickly thanks to her efforts the previous night.
She then inquired why he had left without telling her, expressing worry. Lei Yuzheng casually revealed he had given Du Xiaosu a ride home, claiming he saw her walking alone. This revelation, along with Lin Xiangyuan's question to Du Xiaosu about her well-being the previous night, enraged Jiang Fanlv, who accused Du Xiaosu of deliberately waiting for Lei Yuzheng. When the elevator unexpectedly stopped due to a power outage, Du Xiaosu instinctively grabbed Lei Yuzheng, further fueling Jiang Fanlv's fury.
She lashed out at Du Xiaosu, accusing her of scheming to win Lei Yuzheng's attention, before Lei Yuzheng intervened and told her to stop. Meanwhile, Lin Xiangyuan enthusiastically pitched the Entertainment Center project to Lei Yuzheng, highlighting the interest from several investment companies eager to address Yutian's cash flow issues and facilitate Series A Financing. Lei Yuzheng, however, remained cautious, believing that superficially risk-free ventures often harbored the greatest inherent risks.
He requested two days to carefully consider Lin Xiangyuan's proposal, but Lin Xiangyuan pressed him to make a swift decision to avoid potential "accidents." Later, Jiang Jin visited Lei Ting, expressing concern that Lei Yuzheng had not yet approved Lin Xiangyuan's cooperation plan for the Entertainment Center. Du Xiaosu continued to work diligently at Boyuan during the day, then rushed to a bar for a part-time job in the evenings. Lei Yuzheng firmly rejected the idea, stating he only saw Jiang Fanlv as a younger sister and found the constant pressure from both his father and Uncle Jiang embarrassing. He attempted to divert the conversation to business, expressing his deep concerns about the Entertainment Center project. On Shao Zhenrong's birthday, Du Xiaosu, having bought a cake, went alone to visit his grave. Zou Siqi remarked on their "fairy tale love story," but Du Xiaosu, feeling the weight of her struggles, confided in Zou Siqi about her weariness, expressing envy for Zou Siqi's relaxed life with He Qunfei and lamenting the seemingly impossible financial task Lei Yuzheng had set for her, which Zou Siqi described as Lei Yuzheng "torturing her."
Meanwhile, Lei Yuzheng canceled all his appointments, including an important meeting, to also visit Shao Zhenrong. From a distance at the cemetery, he watched Du Xiaosu pour out her heart to Shao Zhenrong. She regretted breaking up with him due to their families' grudges, wishing she had insisted on their love instead of giving up easily.
She confessed her exhaustion, implying she might have to abandon their dream apartment, and tearfully asked Shao Zhenrong for forgiveness, promising to live well and to meet him in her dreams before saying a final goodbye. Lei Yuzheng watched her, visibly pained by her sorrow. After much introspection, Du Xiaosu decided to concede the thirty-day bet with Lei Yuzheng. She went to his office, admitted defeat, and handed him her resignation letter, stating she had "overestimated herself."
She also shared her plan to leave the city to start anew, feeling that "every place is the same" now that her beloved Zhenrong was gone. Lei Yuzheng accepted her resignation, noting her resolve, but also reminded her that the bet wasn't due yet and questioned her decision to give up after vowing she never would. Later, as Du Xiaosu was informing He Qunfei and Zou Siqi about her resignation, they tried to persuade her to reconsider.
He Qunfei believed Lei Yuzheng was merely trying to temper her spirit and suggested she apologize. At that moment, a delivery arrived for Du Xiaosu. Inside the package, to their astonishment, they found the keys to the Yiping apartment along with Du Xiaosu's resignation letter. He Qunfei exclaimed that Lei Yuzheng was not only returning the apartment but also implicitly inviting her back to Boyuan. Overjoyed, Zou Siqi eagerly proposed they go check out the apartment immediately.
