Song of the Moon Episode 23 Recap
> Song of the Moon Recap
Building on his suspicions and the demon energy he had covertly obtained from Bai Feng using the Xuanling Wood in the previous episode, Luo Ge sought out the Demon King in White. He presented a dew drop that Luo Ge had obtained, which contained a wisp of Ao Hen's demon energy.
The Demon King in White confirmed that only Ao Hen's demon energy could condense into a 'streaming pearl', and that the demon energy itself appeared to have been absorbed after Ao Hen's death. He linked this to claims of a "new king" who "takes human essence" during a scattered demon rebellion. Luo Ge, having his suspicions confirmed, felt he owed the Demon King in White a favor.
The Demon King in White immediately asked for the return of A Fu Jun, which Luo Ge refused for now, but promised "one day." He then requested the return of Liu Shao, claiming she had been wronged in the Immortal Palace. Luo Ge asserted that Liu Shao belonged to no one and would be free once her name was cleared.
Meanwhile, Bai Feng brazenly trespassed into Liu Shao's practice space, taunting her about a Weiyang flower that Liu Shao had created, feigning admiration and asking how it was done. Liu Shao, already suspicious, realized that Bai Feng was indeed the one who had impersonated her to assassinate Immortal Master Wanwu. Bai Feng admitted it, challenging Liu Shao.
Liu Shao revealed her preparedness by stating that the 'Weiyang flower' was actually her master's (Lu Li/Luo Ge's) magic, not her own, indicating that she had been suspicious of Bai Feng all along and had set a trap. She also stated that Bai Feng could not have defeated Immortal Master Wanwu alone, and demanded to know her accomplice. A Fu Jun, already present and growing impatient with Bai Feng, pressed her to act.
Bai Feng explained she first needed to seal Liu Shao's five senses to prevent her Wang Bell from alerting Luo Ge. A Fu Jun was surprised to learn Luo Ge had given Liu Shao half of his immortal artifact, the Wang Bell, a significant tool he had used during his cultivation to immortality. Bai Feng found perverse amusement in using Immortal Palace artifacts to "refine Luo Ge's beloved."
After A Fu Jun confirmed he had made the initial arrangements, he reminded Bai Feng about securing the Moon Sword. With Liu Shao's senses sealed, Bai Feng transformed, taking on Liu Shao's exact appearance, and gloated that Luo Ge would only love her. Bai Feng, now in Liu Shao's guise, confronted the real Liu Shao, who was trapped inside an alchemical cauldron, assuring her that Luo Ge would soon be hers forever.
She further gloated that Liu Shao would be utterly destroyed, soul and body, within seven days if trapped inside. When Luo Ge arrived, expressing concern, Bai Feng, feigning weakness, claimed to have successfully obtained Ao Hen's demon energy and asked for water. In a conversation with A Fu Jun, she discussed how to keep Luo Ge unconscious so he wouldn't discern her true identity. Bai Feng confirmed her intention to make Liu Shao's life a living hell.
Luo Ge drank the water, noting its bitterness, and Bai Feng revealed it contained fragments of Liu Shao's Yaoling God's Essence, which would control Luo Ge due to their mutually exclusive spiritual powers. Bai Feng then cradled the unconscious Luo Ge, reminiscing about holding him as a child (implying Luo Ge was once Lu Li), declaring that when Liu Shao was dealt with, they would be together forever.
Trapped inside the cauldron, Liu Shao cried out to Bai Feng, demanding to be released. Later, Bai Feng, still disguised as Liu Shao, reported to the Immortal Master, claiming Bai Feng had injured Luo Ge and disappeared, urging the Immortal Master to apprehend her and clear "Liu Shao's" name. The Immortal Master promised to investigate but reiterated that Xiyin Mountain had no place for Liu Shao, even for Luo Ge's sake.
Bai Feng then directed A Fu Jun to the Moon Sword. However, Luo Ge had set up a barrier around the Moon Sword, and A Fu Jun was unable to retrieve it, realizing Luo Ge's caution had foiled him. Luo Ning unexpectedly appeared, confronting A Fu Jun. She revealed that she knew he had broken the barrier and visited Bai Feng, having detected Bai Feng's scent on him due to her keen sense of smell.
A Fu Jun admitted he helped Bai Feng to obtain Ao Hen's demon energy, necessary for the Demon King in White to quell the demon world's rebellion, stating he would pay any price for his brother. Luo Ning expressed disappointment, realizing this was A Fu Jun's true self.
A Fu Jun offered his life as atonement, but Luo Ning refused, accepting his true self while sternly warning him not to harm innocent people or her brother, Luo Ge, threatening severe consequences if he did. A Fu Jun expressed gratitude for Luo Ning's understanding, promising to be good, to which Luo Ning lightheartedly reminded him of the many books he still owed her to recite.
In the cauldron, Bai Feng continued to taunt the trapped Liu Shao, who realized Luo Ge was being controlled by the Yaoling God's Essence fragments extracted from her. Determined to save him, Liu Shao attempted to send her Wang Bell to Luo Ge, urging it to help him recover his immortal power and to protect him as if protecting herself.
Meanwhile, Shang Yurong arrived at Palace Chonghua to visit Luo Ge but was rebuffed by Bai Feng, still in Liu Shao's form, who insisted Luo Ge needed rest. Shang Yurong, however, found her demeanor suspicious. Luo Ge eventually awoke with the Wang Bell, but Bai Feng gloated, insinuating that Luo Ge had abandoned Liu Shao by taking back the bell.
Inside the cauldron, Liu Shao, growing weaker, clutched her Phoenix Eye Lotus pendant, lamenting that she might not live to see He Na become the Demon King. Just then, He Na, who was already engaged in battle elsewhere but summoned by Liu Shao's distress signal transmitted through the Phoenix Eye Lotus, arrived. He found Liu Shao trapped in the cauldron, which Bai Feng had obtained to refine living beings.
They both realized the cauldron could not be broken by external force, and the demon fire burning beneath it was particularly harmful to He Na as an Aquatic Demon. Despite the danger, He Na insisted on trying to break free. During this time, the Demon King in White received urgent news that the Eagle Demon was leading an attack on the Aquatic Demons.
Despite the peril to his people, the Demon King in White, choosing to prioritize Liu Shao, decided to stay by her side. He Na, determined to save Liu Shao, persisted in trying to break the cauldron. Bai Feng believed Liu Shao was already consumed by the demon fire and continued to taunt her. Seeing that the cauldron could not be broken by external force, He Na suggested using the caster's own spiritual power.
Just as He Na attempted a desperate measure, Luo Ge, despite his weakened state, acted from outside, pulling Bai Feng close and utilizing her own demon energy to unseal the cauldron. He then explicitly recognized her as Bai Feng. With the cauldron's seals broken, Luo Ge, Liu Shao, and He Na combined their strength to shatter the cauldron. Bai Feng attempted to flee, but Shang Yurong and Zhuo Qiuxian intercepted her.
Unrepentant, Bai Feng claimed that Luo Li and Luo Ge owed her. She justified her crimes, including impersonating Liu Shao to assassinate the Immortal Master, imprisoning Liu Shao, and harming Luo Ge, by stating that she would never force Luo Ge to endure the pain of mutually exclusive spiritual powers or suffer the thunder whip.
All she desired was his love, dismissing the fate of the Three Realms as irrelevant, believing Luo Li and Luo Ge should belong to her alone. Zhuo Qiuxian, disgusted by Bai Feng's brazen malice, summarily struck her off the cliff.
Luo Ge expressed his gratitude to the Demon King in White and requested that he lift the ban on He Na, not as the Demon King, but as Liu Shao's friend, ensuring He Na could always come to Liu Shao's aid. The Demon King in White agreed, stating that no thanks were needed between him and Liu Shao, and then departed to attend to his urgent affairs.
Luo Ge understood that Bai Feng was not acting alone and resolved to heal his Sun spiritual power wounds to uncover the true mastermind. Later, Mr. Tai found the Demon King in White severely injured. The Demon King in White recounted how he had confronted the Eagle Demon who had invaded the Hundred Demons Mausoleum. Despite the Eagle Demon's boasts, the Demon King in White successfully subdued him and his forces.
Mr. Tai observed the Demon King in White's unusual burns, noting that despite his natural immunity to water-related fire, he bore these injuries, deducing they were from saving Liu Shao from the cauldron's demon fire. He questioned why the Demon King in White would go to such lengths for Liu Shao when she did not seem to reciprocate his feelings. The Demon King in White dismissed his injury as a mere scratch compared to saving her life.
Mr. Tai then revealed that the treacherous Eagle Demon had used his own blood to inflict a potent poison, attempting to permanently disable the Demon King in White's right arm. Though the arm was saved, its spiritual channels were destroyed, rendering him unable to wield spiritual power, fight, or even lift heavy objects. Mr. Tai lamented that a thousand years of the Demon King in White's cultivation had been ruined for Liu Shao, deeming the sacrifice unworthy.
