After the photo exhibition concluded, Jin Ayin sought out her brother, Jin Abao, who was still fixated on a photograph titled "Sea and Mountain," contemplating its deep meaning due to his lingering feelings for Chen Mumu. Jin Abao thanked Jin Ayin for her efforts in helping wild animals. Noticing her hesitant demeanor, he playfully pressed her to choose between her two "guardians" for a future brother-in-law.
Annoyed, Jin Ayin brushed him off, but then, appearing conflicted, she asked him a hypothetical question: what would it mean if someone suddenly tried to kiss her. Jin Abao, recognizing her underlying worry, encouraged her to be direct in love. He checked the date, informing her that the following day marked the 48th anniversary of Benett Comet reaching its perihelion, declaring it the perfect moment to ask the person out for dinner.
If the person agreed, it meant mutual interest, and she should seize the opportunity to confess her feelings without hesitation. Using a football analogy, Jin Abao stressed that delaying would lead to a missed chance. Jin Ayin, surprised by his passionate advice, suspected he might be in love, perhaps with Teng Xi, but Jin Abao denied it and quickly changed the subject, noting the distant thunder.
He then playfully evaded taking her home, leaving Jin Ayin to ponder the comet's significance to herself. Shortly after, Jin Ayin unexpectedly encountered Xiang Qinyu on the street. Recalling Jin Abao's advice, she hesitantly proposed they celebrate Benett Comet's 48th perihelion anniversary, highlighting its rare thousand-year meeting with the sun. Xiang Qinyu, however, dismissed it as "flashy." He philosophically remarked that every star has its own trajectory, and meetings are merely fleeting moments before they return to their paths.
He added that once his current investigation was complete, he, too, would return to his own place. As Jin Ayin tried to ask him something else, a passerby accidentally bumped into Xiang Qinyu, causing him to stumble and fall, inadvertently kissing Jin Ayin. In the awkward aftermath, Xiang Qinyu joked that they were "even now," alluding to an earlier incident when Jin Ayin had kissed him.
Jin Ayin, seizing the moment, renewed her invitation for dinner to celebrate the comet's meeting, suggesting they have steak. Xiang Qinyu agreed but noted his filming schedule would only allow him to meet in the evening. With rain starting to fall, he urged her to head back quickly. Meanwhile, Chen Mumu was working late at the office when a colleague informed her that her new project applications had all been approved with a top "Class A" rating, praising her foresight.
The mention of rain brought back a memory of a recent bet she had made with Jin Abao: if it rained this week, they could meet; if not, he was to stop contacting her. Chen Mumu quietly mused that if she could truly predict everything, perhaps the rain wouldn't have come, before dismissing her colleague. As Chen Mumu left work, she found herself caught in the downpour, without an umbrella. Just then, Jin Abao appeared, holding an umbrella over her.
He declared he had won their bet, though he claimed he hadn't truly predicted the rain, believing "even God" might have wanted to help him. He also handed her a pair of sneakers for easier walking. He then led her to a foot massage parlor, a "secret" destination. Chen Mumu, understanding his persistent intentions, reiterated her rejection. Unfazed, Jin Abao declared he would always be available to her, like her "chain store," a sentiment that made Chen Mumu smile.
He advised her to wear high heels less often and promised to frequently bring her for foot massages to help her relax. Later, Jin Ayin meticulously prepared for her dinner date, dressing up and admiring herself. Xiang Qinyu arrived, complimented her, and mentioned he was off to a shoot but would see her that evening, to which Jin Ayin reminded him of their plan for steak by the garden.
Separately, Li Longda was preparing a romantic setting, presumably for a confession on "5. 20" (May 20th). He called Jin Ayin to invite her to dinner, eager to tell her something important. Jin Ayin, however, politely declined, citing an important engagement that evening. When she hurried off, Li Longda called Jin Abao to find out about Jin Ayin, only to learn she had a date.
Concerned, Li Longda rushed to find Jin Ayin, who was promoting a film at a cinema dressed in a mascot costume, while Jin Abao, also in a mascot, helped her by attracting customers for photos. Li Longda immediately offered his help, as Jin Abao enthusiastically encouraged his "brother-in-law" to assist, even suggesting Li Longda treat him to a movie. On a film set, Teng Xi, disheveled and hungover, was lamenting a recent breakup with Jin Abao.
Xiang Qinyu chided her for being so consumed by heartbreak. Teng Xi fired back, criticizing Xiang Qinyu for his inability to express his feelings for Jin Ayin, accusing him of avoiding responsibility. Xiang Qinyu defended his character, asserting his faithfulness and loyalty. He then declared his intention to take Jin Ayin to dinner that night, aiming to prove his sincerity, but Teng Xi just called him an "experienced scumbag" and a "sugarcane man" whose initial sweetness fades.
Meanwhile, Jin Ayin found herself torn between her affection for Xiang Qinyu and her reluctance to hurt Li Longda's feelings. Back at the cinema, Jin Ayin confided in Jian Ye, praising Li Longda's qualities (wealthy, handsome, and virtuous) and asking how to soften a rejection. Jian Ye, amused by her dilemma, suggested that since Jin Ayin couldn't bear to let go of either Xiang Qinyu or Li Longda, accepting both would be a "responsible" display of "caring for the world."
Jian Ye then handed Jin Ayin movie tickets, advising her to watch films for insights into her predicament. Just as Jian Ye gave Jin Ayin the tickets, Jin Abao, who had earlier suggested Li Longda treat him to a movie, spotted Chen Mumu and Jian Ye arriving at the cinema for a rehearsal. Jin Abao quickly excused himself from Li Longda, took Jin Ayin's movie ticket, and entered the cinema himself.
Chen Mumu and Jian Ye were reviewing a film trailer when Wu Jianzhou, Chen Mumu's ex-boyfriend, arrived with his new girlfriend, Shu, a recently graduated actress. While Wu Jianzhou stepped away to take a call, Shu approached Chen Mumu, initially feigning politeness but quickly resorting to veiled insults, hinting at Chen Mumu's age and implying she was clinging to her ex. Chen Mumu calmly retorted that she and Wu Jianzhou were barely even friends outside of work.
She subtly implied that Wu Jianzhou was "trash" that the heroine of their film had "dumped," and that only those who enjoy "picking up trash" would want him. Shu, undeterred, questioned Chen Mumu's current relationship status, implying she regretted the breakup with Wu Jianzhou. Chen Mumu retaliated by asserting that her "blank paper" personality was perfect for Wu Jianzhou, as he relished "taming" and being "relied on by the weak."
She advised Shu to remain an "trumpet creeper" and "never grow up," warning that if she evolved, she'd simply be replaced by a "better pet." Upon Wu Jianzhou's return, Shu tearfully accused Chen Mumu of bullying her. Wu Jianzhou, taking his girlfriend's side, admonished Chen Mumu not to "bully a little girl." Chen Mumu, however, called him a "naive little boy" and brushed off his attempts to assert authority through professional matters.
She warned him against taking "big steps" with high-risk projects, suggesting he might "lose." Wu Jianzhou then launched a personal attack, labeling Chen Mumu "stubborn, independent," and "incompetent in love," criticizing her "aggressive" nature and reminding her of her age, stating that "men don't like aggressive women," especially women "in their 30s."
Chen Mumu, losing her patience, fiercely declared that her emotional state was none of his concern and accused him of "emotional control" for always wanting others to be "victims." She concluded by stating that if "someone like me dumps you for the first time, someone like me will dump you twice." As Wu Jianzhou attempted to continue his tirade, Jin Abao suddenly appeared, asking, "Who are you?" before taking Chen Mumu's hand and telling her, "Let's go." In a defiant act, Chen Mumu then turned and passionately kissed Jin Abao in front of everyone, leaving the onlookers stunned.
