Late at night, a distressed Qian Lianxue is discovered by Wen Wan while attempting to take money from Haoxue Cosmetics. Qian Lianxue tearfully confesses she was driven by desperation, begging Wen Wan not to tell Ji Man and promising to return the funds. Feigning concern, Wen Wan claims she was worried about Qian Lianxue and offers to help. Qian Lianxue explains her worthless brother has incurred a massive gambling debt, putting their family in urgent need of money.
Dismissing the issue as minor, Wen Wan offers to solve the financial problem and keep the theft a secret. In return, she asks Qian Lianxue to do her a small favor in the future, promising to explain when the time is right. Soon after, Ji Man finds a troubled Qian Lianxue. Sensing something is wrong, Ji Man gently coaxes the story out of her.
Qian Lianxue confesses to her attempt to steal money, her brother's gambling debt, and Wen Wan's subsequent offer of help in exchange for a future favor. Suspicious of Wen Wan's timely appearance at Haoxue Cosmetics, Ji Man suspects a trap. She advises Qian Lianxue to play along and agree to Wen Wan's request to uncover her true intentions. Ji Man then arranges for Qin Yixian to rescue Qian Lianxue's brother.
She also reveals her suspicion that Wen Wan was behind the earlier warehouse fire, though she still lacks proof. Meanwhile, Ning Yuxuan gifts Ji Man a crystal necklace from overseas, explaining it symbolizes "one life, one world, one couple." Ji Man wryly notes that with Wen Wan in the household, they are not truly a "couple."
Ning Yuxuan clarifies that his relationship with Wen Wan is not a true marriage—they have no official certificate or bride-price, and he only brought her into the manor to give her a place to live. He asks Ji Man to trust that he has never been unfaithful, and she affirms her belief in him. At Haifang Wharf, Yuan Lang learns from Sang Shen that Ji Man regained her memory after falling into the water.
Surprised, he visits Ji Man, who confirms her memories have returned, recalling childhood moments with her father. However, when he presses for earlier memories, she claims they are too distant to recall. Their conversation is interrupted by the news that her father, the Guihai Warrior, is on his way back to Haifang. Qin Yixian finds Qian Lianxue anxiously waiting outside a gambling den for her brother, Bingyan. He goes inside and confronts Bingyan, who is on a winning streak.
Qin Yixian challenges him to a private game, where Bingyan, growing overconfident, bets everything and loses to a rigged outcome. After showing Bingyan how the casino cheats its patrons, Qin Yixian arranges for him to be sent to Huangzhou to work and reform, forbidding him from contacting his sister until he has changed. As he is taken away, a remorseful Bingyan asks Qin Yixian to tell his sister he is sorry.
Later, Qin Yixian confesses his feelings to Qian Lianxue, admitting that despite their initial animosity, he has come to care for her deeply. She reciprocates, and they happily agree to be together. Wen Wan summons Qian Lianxue, revealing the favor she requires. She describes a rare poison that causes violent convulsions or death and demands Qian Lianxue administer it to Ji Man.
When Qian Lianxue refuses, Wen Wan reveals she orchestrated the entire situation, from luring Bingyan to Haifang to setting him up with gambling debts. She gives Qian Lianxue an ultimatum: poison Ji Man, or she will let Bingyan die. As planned with Ji Man, Qian Lianxue publicly confronts Wen Wan with the packet of powder. Just as she accuses Wen Wan of trying to force her to poison Ji Man, both Ji Man and Ning Yuxuan arrive.
Wen Wan immediately claims she is being framed, insisting the packet contains valuable reishi powder, not poison. She explains she gave it to Qian Lianxue to deliver because she feared Ji Man would reject a gift directly from her. Ji Man, playing her part, stops Ning Yuxuan from calling a doctor and apologizes for the "misunderstanding," while Qian Lianxue acts outraged at the deception. Ning Yuxuan, sensing the complexity of the situation, dismisses everyone.
Later, news arrives that Qian Lianxue’s brother has been safely rescued by Qin Yixian. Ning Yuxuan correctly speculates to Ji Man that news of the rescue must have reached Wen Wan, causing her to swap the poison for a harmless powder at the last minute to avoid being caught.
Wen Wan, realizing her initial plan failed because Qian Lianxue and Ji Man worked together, vows to her servant that trust is irrelevant; she will not stop until Ji Man is gone for good. Sometime later, while preparing a new batch of "common people's Feiwan Face Cream," Ji Man notices the cream's color is unusually dark. Her concern turns to alarm when she learns Qin Yixian has already sent the batch to be sold at the market.
She immediately summons a doctor and Ning Yuxuan. The doctor confirms the cream has been tainted with Qianji Powder, a substance harmless on intact skin but lethal if it enters a wound. Realizing this was an attack meant to kill customers and ruin her business, Ji Man rushes to the market. She successfully recalls every bottle by publicly offering to buy them back at five times the price.
Though she lacks proof, she is certain Wen Wan is behind this deadly plot. That evening, Ning Yuxuan visits Wen Wan. After she presents him with a hand-embroidered handkerchief, he gifts her a bottle of the new Feiwan Face Cream, suggesting she try it. Unaware of the danger, Wen Wan agrees to use it right away.
