Bai Haoyu consistently rejects employee proposals in meetings, displaying an arrogant attitude that frustrates everyone, including Li Huizhen, who wonders about his change. Bai Haoyu frequently contacts Xia Qiao, but she eventually blocks him, feeling he doesn't belong to her. He is surprised and tells a friend "Li Huizhen" deleted him; his friend suggests it's a tactic, but Bai Haoyu believes she has her reasons. Li Huizhen tells Xia Qiao that her sister, Huiling, met Bai Haoyu.
Li Huizhen worries Bai Haoyu might learn the truth, but Xia Qiao advises her to confess, believing Bai Haoyu cares for Li Huizhen. However, Li Huizhen finds it difficult due to their current superior-subordinate relationship. Bai Haoyu secures an hour-long meeting with celebrity James at the airport. Colleagues avoid driving him, so Lin Yimu arranges for Li Huizhen to do it, hoping to change the deputy editor-in-chief's (Bai Haoyu's) view of her.
Bai Haoyu, engrossed in documents, ignores Li Huizhen's questions about the airport. She mistakenly drives to Pudong Airport, only for Bai Haoyu to realize near arrival that it should be Hongqiao. Li Huizhen quickly diverts, and they arrive just in time for Bai Haoyu to successfully negotiate the deal. Despite the success, Bai Haoyu scolds Li Huizhen for the mistake.
Angered by his arrogance, Li Huizhen retorts that his lack of communication caused the error, urges him to be more understanding, and leaves, handing him the keys. Xia Qiao's father visits her at the hotel, hoping she will accept her stepmother and their family. Xia Qiao, feeling hurt, insists on keeping a place for her birth mother, refusing to accept the stepmother. Her father, feeling guilty, offers her a bank card, which she declines.
While returning a lost key to a presidential suite guest, Xia Qiao sees Lin Yimu suspiciously rummaging. Believing him to be a thief, she calls security. Lin Yimu confronts her, pushing her against a wall and accusing her of false accusations. Xia Qiao soon learns Lin Yimu is the VIP guest from the presidential suite. She apologizes, and Lin Yimu quickly forgives her, noting her voice sounds familiar and offering her a fortune-telling candy.
Separately, Zhu Ying collapses due to overwork while staying late alone at the office. Bai Haoyu visits Xia Qiao, asking why she blocked him. She is troubled by either her father's visit or work and tells him he doesn't need to care so much about her, expressing a desire to do something new. Bai Haoyu takes her to a stadium or their childhood school, where they play football.
He ties his jacket around her waist because she's wearing a skirt, which deeply moves her. Bai Haoyu reminisces about childhood, but Xia Qiao struggles to participate. Seeing her relaxed and happy, Bai Haoyu decides to take her to play squash in the future. A depressed Li Huizhen goes for barbecue or skewers and encounters Lin Yimu. They drink together, and Li Huizhen quickly gets drunk, yelling to vent her frustrations and complaining about the deputy editor-in-chief.
Lin Yimu, feeling sympathetic, stays to care for her, even wondering if she likes Bai Haoyu. While drunk, Li Huizhen calls Bai Haoyu and declares she is the real Li Huizhen, surprising him.
