Li Zhicheng took Lin Qian's advice and invited his sister for dinner, hoping to ease the tension between them. At the restaurant, his sister praised the ambiance and mentioned their father's improved spirits since Li Zhicheng's return. However, the meal took a turn when Li Zhicheng warned her to stay away from Chen Zheng, stating one cannot truly know a person by their appearance.

His sister retorted that Chen Zheng was not just a playboy and that Li Zhicheng, in her eyes, saw her as a spoiled rich girl, thus excluding her from business matters. She expressed frustration that he was trying to control her life like their father and abruptly left the dinner. Meanwhile, Lin Qian had lunch with Ning Weikai, who noted her tired appearance. She explained she had been busy with overtime design work, reminding her of their college days.

Ning Weikai subtly suggested she should design with like-minded people. Lin Qian, however, kept the conversation light, focusing on design and avoiding comments on company rivalries. She playfully revealed that Li Zhicheng, being an ex-soldier, made them do military-style morning runs, which she tried to avoid. Their meal was interrupted when Li Zhicheng arrived uninvited. He sternly declared that Lin Qian belonged to him during her working hours and advised Ning Weikai to keep his distance.

When Ning Weikai challenged him, questioning if Aida employees had no time off, Li Zhicheng pointed out that it was 2 PM, Lin Qian's work time. Without further discussion, Li Zhicheng pulled Lin Qian away, leaving a displeased Ning Weikai behind. Outside the restaurant, Lin Qian scolded Li Zhicheng for his domineering behavior. He calmly stated that her contract stipulated he had bought out all her working hours.

Lin Qian argued that as a designer, she worked at night and rested during the day, asserting that she had signed a contract, not a "slave deal." Li Zhicheng, realizing her point, remained silent. Later, Lin Qian returned to her office to find Gu Yanzhi had arranged for a massage chair, calling it an "employee benefit." As Lin Qian tried to figure out how to use it, Li Zhicheng came to assist.

In an unexpected turn, he accidentally triggered the chair's recline function, causing them to fall into a close embrace. Chen Yayi, entering the office, witnessed the scene and immediately began teasing Lin Qian, asking if she felt even a "tiny bit" of affection for Li Zhicheng. Lin Qian, feigning seriousness, playfully responded that she adhered to the principle of "absolutely no office relationships," though Chen Yayi continued to fantasize about being with her man 24/7.

Lin Qian excitedly informed Li Zhicheng that the sample rescue uniforms had passed the water pressure test with zero infiltration for ten hours. Li Zhicheng, however, emphasized that experiments couldn't solely be confined to the lab. He recalled carrying sandbags on a dam during his military service and witnessing infiltration after a few hours of physical activity. Driven by his words, Lin Qian decided to conduct a real-world test herself during a heavy rainstorm.

She explained to Chen Yayi over the phone that a human wearing the outfit would yield more accurate results than a mannequin. As she walked in the rain, Li Zhicheng suddenly appeared, also wearing a uniform for testing. He told Lin Qian that first responders wouldn't walk so slowly and urged her to go back, insisting he would perform the test himself by lying down in the rain.

The next morning, Lin Qian was worried when Li Zhicheng didn't show up for work, especially after hearing from colleagues and Gu Yanzhi that he was unreachable. She went looking for him and found him lying in a company room. She urged him to get up, concerned he would fall ill. Li Zhicheng sat up, revealing that his test had shown infiltration around all his joints, confirming the experiment's effectiveness.

He then recounted his experience during the 2006 Linhai City flood, where his troop was stationed along the Yangtze River for 38 days, enduring constant rain and eating noodles soaked in rainwater. He shared the tragic story of his comrade, Old Zhou, who, despite having a fever, insisted on staying on the frontline and was eventually swept away by the flood, leaving behind a five-year-old son who heartbreakingly asked, "How long will he sacrifice until he'll come back?"

Li Zhicheng emotionally stated that the rescue uniforms he envisioned must protect those who risk their lives to save others. Lin Qian listened intently, deeply understanding his motivation. Inspired by Li Zhicheng's story, Lin Qian dedicated herself to designing the uniform, focusing on solving the joint infiltration issue. While working late, she saw Chen Yayi online shopping for a 3D-tailored dress.

This sparked a revelation: if clothes could be 3D-tailored, so could the seams and glue on the uniforms, preventing water leakage. She excitedly realized she had found a solution. Later that night, Li Zhicheng came to Lin Qian's office, urging her to stop working and rest. To help her relax, he brought hotpot. As they ate, Lin Qian asked why he hired her.

Li Zhicheng dismissed her guesses and honestly stated that he hired her because when he first saw her, she reminded him of a Type 95 automatic rifle—accurate, cost-effective, lethal, and most importantly, dependable, like something he could rely on and trust on a battlefield. Lin Qian, flattered, toasted him. After a few drinks, she accidentally burned her hand.

Li Zhicheng took her hand to the sink, carefully instructing her to flush it for five minutes to prevent blistering, a gesture that warmed her heart. Lin Qian, now tipsy, shared a comic about designers and bosses, then playfully asked Li Zhicheng to promise not to change her designs. She noticed his rare smile and observed that his serious demeanor hid a "cute" side, describing him as a "lone warrior" – stubborn, admirable, yet sometimes annoying.

Li Zhicheng then escorted a tipsy Lin Qian back to her apartment. Upon entering, he noticed the apartment was ransacked. Realizing intruders were present, he quickly turned off the lights and confronted the men who were searching for a USB drive. During the struggle, a hazy Lin Qian watched him fight and felt a sudden sense of déjà vu, convinced he resembled the special forces soldier who had saved her life in Yunnan.

After the police arrived and took their statements, Lin Qian noticed Li Zhicheng was injured. The police confirmed the intruders used controlled knives and asked them to come to the station the next day for further details. Lin Qian, worried, insisted on taking Li Zhicheng to the hospital, but he downplayed his injury. As his buddy helped patch him up, Lin Qian hesitantly asked if he was the one who saved her in Yunnan.

Li Zhicheng nodded, revealing he had recognized her long ago and was surprised she hadn't recognized him without his camouflage. Expressing concern for her safety due to the poor security in her apartment complex, Li Zhicheng instructed his team to check her building's surveillance. He then insisted she stay in the spare room next to his place for her safety until the culprits were caught.
