Our Glamorous Time Episode 48 Recap
> Our Glamorous Time Recap
Peter ambushed Gao Lang at his home, striking him and accusing him of illegal trespassing. Peter called Gao Lang Ning Weikai’s hooligan sidekick, reminding him of his past as a security guard and his jail time. He threatened to send Gao Lang back to prison and demanded to know why Ning Weikai had sent him. Gao Lang retorted that he had come on his own to ask if Peter was behind Grace’s injury.
Peter denied it, then revealed a hidden surveillance camera in a flower pot, claiming to have evidence of Gao Lang's burglary. He offered Gao Lang a choice: provide intelligence on Xinbaorui, or face legal consequences. Gao Lang defiantly refused to betray Ning Weikai, leading to another fierce struggle. Outside, Wasp and Woodpecker, who were monitoring Peter's residence, witnessed the assault but held back from intervening to avoid exposing their surveillance.
Peter eventually knocked Gao Lang unconscious and then called the police, falsely reporting a home invasion and robbery. Ning Weikai was preparing soup for Grace when Li Zhicheng called to inform him of Gao Lang's arrest at Peter's home. Shocked, Ning Weikai thanked Li Zhicheng and, accompanied by Grace, rushed to the hospital. Meanwhile, Wasp and another subordinate discussed Peter's impressive fighting skills, suggesting he might be an ex-military serviceman due to the severity and precision of his attacks.
Li Zhicheng, their commander, ordered them to maintain close surveillance on Peter and the "fake marriage" couple to gather evidence, especially regarding Grace’s fall, emphasizing that the truth often reveals itself when one is on the verge of giving up. At the hospital, police blocked Ning Weikai and Grace from seeing Gao Lang, who, in a moment of lucidity, weakly pleaded with Ning Weikai to care for his mother.
Grace advised Ning Weikai against acting impulsively and urged him to secure a lawyer for Gao Lang. In the hospital corridor, they encountered Peter, who provocatively gloated about Gao Lang's potential prison sentence and sarcastically commented on Ning Weikai's subordinates. He further mocked Grace's recent injury becoming headline news. Infuriated, Ning Weikai attempted to physically confront Peter, but Grace intervened, urging him to remain calm and promising they would find an appropriate way to retaliate.
Later, Ning Weikai was seen drinking heavily, expressing his hatred for Peter, while Grace tried to console him, reminding him they couldn't act foolishly given Gao Lang's situation. At Peter's office, Lisa presented Peter with information: three Linhai City companies were collaborating on a massive initiative called the "Qingcheng Plan," which she believed would pose a significant threat to DP. Lisa hoped this information would secure the return of her compromising photographs and videos from Peter.
However, Peter found the details insufficient for an exchange and instead demanded the complete Qingcheng business plan before he would return her items. He also hinted at additional advertising fees and personal gain for her. Zhu Hanjing visited Ning Weikai, expressing her concern about Gao Lang's incident and its negative impact on Xinbaorui. Ning Weikai assured her he would ensure Xinbaorui remained untainted by the scandal and denied instigating the incident.
Zhu Hanjing then criticized Ning Weikai for being distracted by Grace and neglecting Xinbaorui, suggesting he allowed Gao Lang to be jailed because of Grace’s injury. She urged him to focus entirely on the Qingcheng plan. Ning Weikai apologized and promised to handle all matters, including dealing with reporters.
He also instructed his assistant to send 300,000 yuan to Gao Lang's ailing mother, an offer Ning Weikai personally declined to be associated with, stating it was a matter between him and Gao Lang, not the company. Subsequently, Lisa visited Wenda, attempting to interview Li Zhicheng about the Qingcheng Plan. Li Zhicheng was dismissive, stating he had a meeting and refused to disclose any details or the project plan.
Lisa then shifted her questions to Gao Lang's arrest and rumors of him trying to steal DP's trade secrets. Li Zhicheng claimed unfamiliarity with Gao Lang and sternly warned Lisa against attacking Xinbaorui, reminding her that DP was also a shareholder. With no further information, Lisa left Wenda. Meanwhile, Gu Yanzhi was giving Li Jinyuan a piggyback ride as they strolled, but Li Jinyuan noticed his recent distraction.
She asked if he was hiding something or in conflict with her brother. Gu Yanzhi admitted he was preoccupied with finding a solution to the problem with DP. Li Jinyuan advised him not to overstress, suggesting it was fine to earn less profit as long as they avoided losses. Later that evening, Lin Qian called Li Zhicheng, asking him to come home because she was scared to be alone.
Li Zhicheng told her he would be very late, working on the joint venture details for Wenda, Xinbaorui, and Simeiqi, with the contract signing scheduled for the next day. Lin Qian expressed her disappointment about spending their first wedding night alone. Li Zhicheng advised her not to open the door to strangers. Shortly after, a knock came at the door.
Lin Qian, still on the phone with Li Zhicheng, hesitantly opened it to find him standing there, disguised in a large polar bear costume, much to her surprise and delight. He introduced himself as "Bao Bao from the North Pole," playfully calling her his loyal fan. The next day, Li Zhicheng was in a meeting with Ning Weikai and Chen Zheng, celebrating their successful collaboration.
Unexpectedly, Peter called Li Zhicheng, congratulating him on his marriage before delivering a "wedding gift": Gu Yanzhi had sold his shares in Wenda to DP, with the agreement already signed. Li Zhicheng was both shocked and angry. He later returned home to Lin Qian, who worried Peter was trying to alienate them and dismantle Wenda. She suggested asking Gu Yanzhi about it, and Li Zhicheng confirmed he had already invited Gu Yanzhi to their home.
When Gu Yanzhi arrived, Li Zhicheng immediately confronted him, demanding an explanation. Gu Yanzhi, however, was defiant, declaring the shares were his to sell to whomever he pleased. Li Zhicheng accused him of putting Wenda in a death trap, given DP's known ambition to take over Linhai's market and their current efforts to secretly acquire shares. Gu Yanzhi responded by throwing a resignation letter onto the table, stating he was no longer part of Wenda.
When Li Zhicheng asked if he was in need of money, Gu Yanzhi angrily rejected any "charity" and demanded to know if Li Zhicheng could give him what he truly wanted: the top job at Wenda. Lin Qian interjected, reminding Gu Yanzhi that Wenda was the Li family's enterprise and questioning how he could make such a statement given Li Zhicheng's brotherly treatment of him.
Gu Yanzhi reiterated that Li Zhicheng couldn't give him what he desired, and he needed to forge his own path. Lin Qian expressed her disappointment, accusing him of allying with the enemy and questioning if he had hidden troubles he wouldn't share. Gu Yanzhi simply replied that he didn't want to face it with them and abruptly left. Gu Yanzhi then went to the Li family home, where Li Jinyuan furiously confronted him.
Crying, she slapped him and demanded to know why he was betraying Wenda, her brother, and their family. Gu Yanzhi calmly stated, "I need the money." Despite her repeated pleas for an explanation, he remained silent. Overwhelmed, Li Jinyuan expressed her hurt and disbelief that there was no basic trust between them. She declared she could not love a traitor who might one day betray her too, and ended their relationship.
Gu Yanzhi was visibly heartbroken but still offered no defense. Later, in Gu Yanzhi's office, Li Zhicheng reflected on Lin Qian's suspicion that Gu Yanzhi had ulterior motives. He mused that Gu Yanzhi might be employing a "faking injury" tactic, pretending to sell his shares to gain Peter's trust while secretly going undercover. However, he also worried about Gu Yanzhi's recklessness and Peter's cunning nature. While contemplating, he discovered a bank loan business card in Gu Yanzhi's drawer.
He immediately called the number, posing as Gu Yanzhi's friend, to inquire about a mortgage, scheduling a meeting. He then called Monkey, instructing him to attend the meeting, pretending to be Gu Yanzhi's friend, and ascertain the loan amount. Meanwhile, Grace, having recuperated, resolved to return to H Group. She believed Peter was too ambitious, connecting his actions with Lisa, her own injury, and now Gu Yanzhi's situation.
Concerned that H Magazine had become Peter's propaganda tool, she decided to reclaim her position, stating her leave was not a resignation. Li Zhicheng then visited Li Jinyuan, who, still crying, confirmed her breakup with Gu Yanzhi. She reiterated her belief that he had hidden troubles but wouldn't confide in her.
Li Zhicheng acknowledged her understanding of Gu Yanzhi and asked her to maintain the facade of their breakup for a few days, allowing the outside world to believe it was real and thereby protecting Gu Yanzhi's true intentions. Peter and Gu Yanzhi met at a bar. As they talked, Monkey, Woodpecker, and Antelope, following Li Zhicheng's instructions, intentionally entered the bar, making their presence known. Gu Yanzhi angrily confronted them, loudly demanding to know if Li Zhicheng had sent them.
Though Monkey denied it, Gu Yanzhi, in a theatrical display, smashed his glass, declaring that after years of hard work at Wenda, he owed Li Zhicheng nothing and had earned whatever he was getting. He then angrily told them to leave. Back in their car, Monkey expressed his confusion over Gu Yanzhi's "crazy" reaction, but Wasp clarified that it was a strategic "showdown act" between Commander Li Zhicheng and Vice President Gu, with Peter as the intended audience.
Separately, Chen Zheng attempted to contact Chen Yayi, but his calls went unanswered. He sent her a message, expressing his desire to reconcile and how his previous words were born of frustration, only to find himself blocked by her. Grace, back at H Group, was welcomed by her colleagues, who complained about Lisa turning the magazine into DP's marketing department. Grace reassured them that these issues would soon be resolved. She then confronted Lisa, who was sitting in Grace's office.
Grace pointed out that the magazine was filled with praise for DP, resembling a promotional brochure. Lisa defended it by citing DP as their main advertiser, but Grace asserted that she was well aware of the company's happenings despite her leave.
