She reminded him of their bond, like soldiers always having each other's back, and Li Zhicheng affirmed he took their relationship just as seriously. Meanwhile, at Xinbaorui, Zhu Hanchong scoffed at Ning Weikai's success in the designer competition, dismissing it as inconsequential.
Believing Ning Weikai was always full of tricks, he instructed his assistant to summon reporter Ms. Cai. Unbeknownst to Zhu Hanchong, Ning Weikai was already meeting Ms. Cai for tea. Ning Weikai subtly suggested his desire to return to Xinbaorui and offered her a more lucrative deal than Zhu Hanchong. However, Ms. Cai politely declined, asserting her role as a journalist who pursues facts, not business transactions, and left.
Gao Lang then approached Ning Weikai, who grimly admitted Ms. Cai wasn't interested in their offer. Ning Weikai fell silent when Gao Lang asked about their next steps, a scene observed by Grace, who surmised Ning Weikai was likely plotting something. As Zhu Hanchong prepared for a night out, his sister, Zhu Hanjing, called, urging him to return immediately as their father, Chairman Zhu, was furious.
Upon his arrival, Chairman Zhu angrily confronted Zhu Hanchong, presenting photos that exposed Zhu Hanchong's previous attempt to bribe Ms. Cai. He also brandished a personnel termination list and furiously questioned Zhu Hanchong about firing company veterans, who had helped build the family business. Zhu Hanchong defended his actions, claiming he didn't want outsiders interfering with Xinbaorui.
Chairman Zhu, however, declared that Ning Weikai was not an outsider and stripped his ungrateful son of all authority, forbidding him from interfering in any of Xinbaorui's operations. Chairman Zhu then personally met with Ning Weikai, imploring him to return to Xinbaorui. He acknowledged the company's recent troubles and his own advancing age, expressing his unwavering faith in Ning Weikai and promising him maximum freedom, assuring him that Zhu Hanchong would no longer interfere.
Recalling Chairman Zhu's past support, Ning Weikai agreed to return. Ning Weikai then arranged a meeting with Li Zhicheng. He brought up their previous bet, acknowledging he had honored his word by withdrawing from the fashion industry after losing. However, he argued that Aida's victory was aided by a "natural intervention"—the rainstorm that flooded Xinbaorui's warehouse—making the competition unfair. Li Zhicheng retorted that for winners, only results matter, not excuses.
Ning Weikai then subtly questioned the "odd" circumstances of Xinbaorui's warehouse flooding, implying Li Zhicheng knew more. Li Zhicheng asked if he was being threatened. Ning Weikai clarified it was merely a discussion about their bet and explained his obligation to return to Xinbaorui given the Chairman's trust and the company's current state. He offered to drop the warehouse incident if Li Zhicheng would temporarily retract their bet.
Li Zhicheng considered this and agreed, and Ning Weikai promised to return the favor. Meanwhile, Gu Yanzhi invited Li Jinyuan to a formal dinner. He apologized for his previous boldness backstage and confessed his genuine feelings for her, offering to wait. Li Jinyuan, however, expressed her inability to make decisions and asked him to stop waiting for her, stating she was focused on her new job and feared a relationship would distract her.
Gu Yanzhi, accepting her decision, changed the topic to avoid further awkwardness. Later, Li Zhicheng called Gu Yanzhi about a celebration, but Gu Yanzhi declined, believing his presence would make Li Jinyuan uncomfortable since he felt he had "pushed it too hard." At the designer competition's awards ceremony, Ning Weikai was crowned champion.
In his acceptance speech, he emphasized the importance of remembering one's original aspirations, sharing a personal anecdote about how a stranger's praise for his design, unknowingly, served as a "wake-up call" to reconnect with his initial passion. Li Zhicheng remarked that Ning Weikai only won because Lin Qian had withdrawn. Lin Qian, unfazed, stated that she had gained something "more valuable" than first place.
The host then announced that due to its outstanding quality, Lin Qian's design would also be featured in the magazine alongside Ning Weikai's work. During the after-party, Ning Weikai approached Grace, not to thank her for the competition win, but for her discreet assistance with Ms. Cai.

Back at Aida, Chen Yayi urged Lin Qian to focus less on work and more on her relationship with Li Zhicheng, warning that he was cunning despite his innocent facade.
