Always on the Move Episode 24 Recap
> Always on the Move Recap
Wu was suffering from severe eye problems that affected his work. His director visited him at home and urged him to see a doctor. Wu reluctantly went and was diagnosed with uveitis, with a possibility of an eye tumor needing further examination. Under immense pressure, Wu isolated himself at home, refusing to see neighbors who came to check on him. Jia Jinlong visited the railway courtyard and asked Yao Yuling for Wang Xin's address.
Jia Jinlong was visibly captivated by Yao Yuling's beauty. Wang Xin welcomed Jia Jinlong warmly. Jia asked Wang Xin to help him buy a sleeper train ticket back to Hacheng, explaining his mother was hospitalized. Wang Xin quickly secured the ticket and took Jia Jinlong to the train station. Ma Yan also came to the station to give Jia some local Ningyang specialties.
At the station, Jia asked Wang Xin if Yao Yuling was his girlfriend, which Wang Xin seemed to confirm jokingly, saying she was the second most beautiful person in the courtyard. Ma Kui surprised Ma Yan with a pair of high-heeled shoes she had long desired, even helping her put them on, which brought tears to her eyes.
Ma Kui emphasized that Uncle Peng had saved his life and that he couldn't neglect Lili, who had been entrusted to them by Uncle Peng. He hoped Ma Yan understood his position, which seemed to ease her mind slightly. Niu Dali returned from his hometown with a prescription from an old doctor known for treating eye conditions and immediately brought it to Wu. Wu was initially hesitant and felt ashamed, having previously suspected Niu Dali wanted his job.
After receiving the medicine and hearing Niu Dali's genuine concern, Wu apologized for his past thoughts. Wu then asked Cai to recommend Niu Dali to take over his position, which Niu Dali reluctantly accepted. Excited, Niu Dali invited Yao Yuling out to celebrate becoming an assistant driver. Yao Yuling was also happy for him. During the meal, Niu Dali confessed his feelings and asked Yao Yuling to be his girlfriend, to which she happily agreed.
The celebration was briefly interrupted when their table unexpectedly tilted, sending food everywhere. Niu Dali assured her they could order another table. Later, a passenger alighting from a train at Ninggang station carried a snake-skin bag from under his seat. Blood from the bag dripped onto a nearby passenger, for which he profusely apologized and offered compensation for the stained clothes. Hu, a railroad officer, arrived and inspected the bag, discovering human remains inside.
The passenger claimed he found the bag at the station and denied knowing its contents, but Hu didn't believe him and took him to the police station. The passenger insisted he thought the bag contained frozen pork and had just picked it up to take with him. Wang Xin pressed him for details about where he boarded the train, but the passenger was evasive.
To verify the passenger's story, Wang Xin conducted an experiment on a train with a bag of frozen pork. By analyzing the degree of thawing of the recovered human remains, Wang Xin concluded the passenger's initial account was false regarding the origin station. The passenger then confessed he had gone to Songlin to meet a lover and found the bag on the platform at Songlin station when returning, and he had indeed gotten off the train at Ninggang.
Captain Jiang assigned the case to Wang Xin and Ma Kui, instructing them to solve it quickly, and provided them with the forensic report confirming the remains belonged to an adult male with Type B blood. Wang Xin and Ma Kui began their investigation, reviewing missing persons reports.
They identified Ding Gui'an, a 24-year-old man with no stable job and a history of petty crime and fighting, who had been missing since the beginning of the year and had Type B blood. They visited Ding Gui'an's mother, who told them her son's older brother was named Dong Gang, and that both brothers had previously been incarcerated. They staked out the area near Dong Gang's small provision store.
From a distance, they observed him helping an older woman who had sprained her ankle by taking her home. Ma Kui and Wang Xin approached Dong Gang at his store, posing as relatives of Ding Gui'an to inquire about his whereabouts.
Dong Gang claimed to have no knowledge of Ding Gui'an's current location or recent activities, stating they hadn't been in close contact for years, especially after Dong Gang was released from prison two years prior and refused Ding Gui'an's attempts to pull him back into crime. Despite their questions, Dong Gang offered no useful information, and they eventually left.
As they were leaving, Wang Xin subtly noticed that Dong Gang's hands were sweaty despite the indoor warmth, which he interpreted as a sign of nervousness or deception, though he lacked concrete proof. They continued their stakeout near Dong Gang's store in shifts but observed nothing unusual. Niu Dali took Yao Yuling out on a bicycle to see a movie. Yao Yuling dressed up carefully for the occasion.
As they were leaving the courtyard, Jia Jinlong arrived looking for Wang Xin and Ma Kui, almost colliding with Niu Dali's bicycle. Jia Jinlong watched Yao Yuling leave, a hint of disappointment on his face. He noticed a button that had fallen from her clothes and picked it up. When he asked about Wang Xin and Ma Kui, he was told they were away working on a case and their return was uncertain.
Wang Xin and Ma Kui continued their stakeout outside Dong Gang's store for a full day and night without finding any leads. Late that night, Dong Gang looked around cautiously before closing his store and leaving. Finding his behavior suspicious, Wang Xin and Ma Kui quietly followed him.
