My True Friend Episode 6 Recap
> My True Friend Recap
Aunt Li expressed her strong liking for the house, admiring its layout, brightness, and spaciousness, believing it would help a child develop a good character. Cheng Zhenzhen agreed and offered her a seat. Aunt Li, after bragging about her son, declared her intention to buy the house, confirming the price of 25. 8 million RMB with Cheng Zhenzhen. She stated there was no need to think it over, fearing it might be taken by someone else.
Aunt Bai was pleased, feeling the house was going to the right person, and thanked Aunt Li. Aunt Li then asked Cheng Zhenzhen for the letter of intent to sign immediately. Aunt Bai excused herself to call her son, Jing Ran, as the house was under his name and required his signature. She asked Cheng Zhenzhen and Shao Pengcheng to follow up, eager for her son to return.
Cheng Zhenzhen informed Aunt Li about the standard 100,000 RMB deposit required with the letter of intent. Aunt Li, however, revealed she had left home in a hurry and hadn't brought that much money, nor her bank card. Aunt Bai generously dismissed the issue, suggesting the deposit could be paid at the same time as the contract signing the following day, as her son would be flying back.
Aunt Li promised to make the full payment then, concerned the house might disappear. Aunt Bai then invited Aunt Li to see her greenhouse, promising all the flowers would be hers. Shao Pengcheng teased Cheng Zhenzhen about her excitement to see her "idol" Jing Ran again, but she brushed it off. The next day, Aunt Bai and Jing Ran arrived early at the Flower Garden shop.
Cheng Zhenzhen greeted Aunt Bai warmly, while Shao Pengcheng, noticing her attentiveness towards Jing Ran, told her to be more "classy" and not act like she was selling herself. Jing Ran reviewed the contract and asked Cheng Zhenzhen if she was excited. Aunt Li arrived late, greeted by Aunt Bai who expressed relief she made it. Cheng Zhenzhen introduced Jing Ran to Aunt Li, and Jing Ran asked if the sale was concluded.
Hao Meili, recognizing Aunt Li, whispered to a colleague that everyone knew Aunt Li was "crazy," predicting a show. Aunt Li announced she had brought the money—one hundred thousand RMB she had withdrawn the previous night. However, when she opened her bag, revealing them to be hell bank notes that scattered across the floor.
Hao Meili further explained to her colleagues that Aunt Li's son had died in a car accident years ago while she was looking at school district housing, and she had been mentally stuck in that traumatic period. Hearing Hao Meili confirm her son's death, Aunt Li became enraged. She pushed Aunt Bai aside, who was quickly steadied by Jing Ran, and lunged at Hao Meili, scratching her face.
Cheng Zhenzhen rushed to intervene, getting bitten on the hand by Aunt Li. Shao Pengcheng, quick to react, calmed Aunt Li by telling her her son had just gotten out of school and needed to be picked up. He then escorted her away, assuring her he would handle the house. After Shao Pengcheng left with Aunt Li, Jing Ran, seeing his mother shaken, angrily confronted Manager Zeng.
He questioned the agency's professionalism and lack of proper client background checks, pointing out that this was the second failed transaction and his mother had nearly been harmed. Manager Zeng apologized profusely. Hao Meili, still complaining about her scratched face, argued that all experienced agents knew Aunt Li had mental problems, but Jing Ran countered, asking why they weren't informed.
Jing Ran declared that they no longer needed the Flower Garden Real Estate's services for their house and specifically asked Cheng Zhenzhen and Shao Pengcheng, whom he called "unprofessional agents," to stop harassing his mother. Aunt Bai, however, defended Cheng Zhenzhen and Shao Pengcheng, stating it wasn't their fault, as even she, with her life experience, hadn't detected Aunt Li's problem.
Manager Zeng offered full compensation, but Jing Ran dismissed the offer and left with his mother, who promised to contact Cheng Zhenzhen later. Manager Zeng then reminded Cheng Zhenzhen about the importance of being careful in their industry to avoid hurting clients. Cheng Zhenzhen admitted her mistake. Meanwhile, Shao Pengcheng followed Aunt Li home, where her husband, Li Shushu, was anxiously waiting, having searched for her all day.
Aunt Li explained she was out looking at school district houses for their son. Shao Pengcheng introduced himself and gave Aunt Li his business card, promising to help her find the best school district house whenever she needed. Li Shushu expressed deep gratitude, believing they could finally buy a house for their son's education. After the couple went inside, Cheng Zhenzhen, who had been observing from a distance, joined Shao Pengcheng for dinner at a barbecue restaurant.
Shao Pengcheng noticed Cheng Zhenzhen's injured hand and expressed his deep sympathy for Aunt Li's tragic situation. Suddenly, Cheng Zhenzhen received a text message from Jing Ran, coldly asking her not to harass him and his mother. Upset by the message, Cheng Zhenzhen showed it to Shao Pengcheng, who immediately called Jing Ran to confront him.
Shao Pengcheng argued that he and Cheng Zhenzhen had worked hard to sell Jing Ran's house and questioned why Jing Ran considered their efforts harassment. Jing Ran accused Shao Pengcheng of leaving his mother alone to go to another country and offered to pay Cheng Zhenzhen for her time spent with his mother, stating that a real estate agent should not "freeload on meals" at a client's house.
Jing Ran criticized Shao Pengcheng as unprofessional for relying on a relationship with his mother to sell the house. Shao Pengcheng admitted to being unprofessional but declared he understood "feelings" and "home" better than Jing Ran, whom he called "nothing" without emotions. Cheng Zhenzhen then defended herself, explaining that she visited Aunt Bai out of her own volition because she felt Aunt Bai was lonely and that she "loved her dearly."
Shao Pengcheng, however, questioned Cheng Zhenzhen's self-respect for continuing to "harass" Jing Ran and his mother after such accusations. Later that night, Cheng Zhenzhen recorded an audio message, expressing how terrible she felt about her "stupid mistake" at work and her concern that Jing Ran would never forgive her. Shao Pengcheng, trying to cheer her up, messaged her to play a game, but she said she was going to sleep.
However, Cheng Zhenzhen then received an anonymous text message, encouraging her by saying that everyone makes mistakes and sincerity is always felt if the initial intention is good. Jing Ran, reflecting on Shao Pengcheng's words, asked his mother what she did alone at home when he was away. Aunt Bai replied that she played the piano, sang, and watched TV, wondering what else there was to do. Jing Ran suggested they go shopping and eat out the next day.
Aunt Bai declined, stating she had plenty of unworn clothes and money from him, and offered to cook Chinese food for him, anticipating difficulty finding it abroad. Jing Ran apologized to his mother for being too busy over the years and not spending enough time with her. Aunt Bai reassured him, saying she could take care of herself and was happy to have him by her side now.
Mu Yunping reported the incident at the Flower Garden shop to Chairman Shao, who instructed him to personally handle the situation and apologize to Jing Ran. Chairman Shao expressed his frustration, noting that Shao Pengcheng had already ruined a previous meeting with Jing Ran and now caused a major issue with his house sale. He advised Mu Yunping to comfort Jing Ran, ensure Shao Pengcheng offered a heartfelt apology, and provide compensation if appropriate.
Chairman Shao also urged Mu Yunping to encourage Shao Pengcheng, reminding him not to be discouraged by obstacles and that failure is a part of becoming a businessman. The next day, Mu Yunping and Manager Zeng visited Jing Ran and Aunt Bai to apologize on behalf of Love & Family Realty.
Mu Yunping acknowledged their company's mistakes, the two problematic transactions, and the distress caused to Aunt Bai, offering full compensation and promising to find a reliable buyer within ten days. Jing Ran accepted the apology, waiving the compensation, but insisted on changing the salesperson, unwilling to waste more time with "unprofessional agents" or risk his mother's safety. Manager Zeng offered to personally handle the sale.
However, Aunt Bai interjected, insisting that Cheng Zhenzhen and Shao Pengcheng should remain in charge, stating they had done "quite a good job." She led Jing Ran into the garden, revealing that Cheng Zhenzhen and Shao Pengcheng had regularly visited to tend to the garden, clean the house, chat, and share meals, making her feel less lonely. She even mentioned Shao Pengcheng taught her to play a card game and gave her a blanket.
Aunt Bai praised their kindheartedness, acknowledging their business skills were "lacking a little" due to their youth, and reminded Jing Ran that everyone starts this way. Jing Ran then apologized to his mother. Back at the Flower Garden shop, Shao Pengcheng apologized to Cheng Zhenzhen for making her angry. Mu Yunping and Manager Zeng announced that Jing Ran had given them another chance, and that Cheng Zhenzhen and Shao Pengcheng would continue to be responsible for Aunt Bai's house.
Manager Zeng stressed the importance of selling the house within ten days and offered double commission to the successful agent. Cheng Zhenzhen, having made peace with Shao Pengcheng, presented a potential client, Mr. Yang. Shao Pengcheng called Mr. Yang, who expressed interest in a house near Huai Shu Li School District and agreed to meet them at his home the next morning for a presentation.
At home, Mr. Yang and his wife debated whether their son, Ivan, should learn calligraphy or English, while Ivan simply wanted to play basketball. Ivan's mother insisted on English due to his age and the need to excel for a "key school," while his father preferred calligraphy. Ivan, when asked, plainly stated his desire to play basketball, leading his mother to stress that basketball was not a stable career and education was paramount.
Later, Luo Zuer visited the Flower Garden shop looking for Shao Pengcheng, but he was out meeting Mr. Yang with Cheng Zhenzhen. A colleague explained that Shao Pengcheng might be embarrassed to face her after her previous house viewing. The colleague offered to show Luo Zuer other houses, which she accepted, finding the colleague more professional.
At Mr. Yang's home, the couple enthusiastically explained their desire for a top school district house for their "very smart" son, Ivan, who excelled at calligraphy, piano, and drawing. Cheng Zhenzhen summarized their extensive requirements: a quiet, safe house in Huai Shu Li District, within a 15-minute walk to both primary and middle schools, preferably on the first floor with a small garden, and a landlord from a scholarly family.
Shao Pengcheng noted that such a house would cost at least 15 million yuan, a price Mr. Yang confirmed they had been preparing for since Ivan's birth. Shao Pengcheng privately remarked that the Yangs exemplified "middle-class anxiety," wanting their child to be an "omnipotent genius," burdened with many activities forced upon them. He argued that true genius stemmed from self-taught passion. Cheng Zhenzhen disagreed, believing parents wanting the best for their children was natural.
Shao Pengcheng countered that such an environment might deprive the child of a happy childhood. He advised Cheng Zhenzhen that for such clients, showing them the most expensive houses would reassure them of a better future for their child. Cheng Zhenzhen rejected this, stating they should not make clients spend more than necessary. Shao Pengcheng called her stubborn, explaining that such clients "spend to make their hearts at ease."
Shortly after, Aunt Bai called Cheng Zhenzhen, expressing how much she missed them and inviting her and Shao Pengcheng for dinner. Cheng Zhenzhen joyfully accepted. After the call, Cheng Zhenzhen, delighted, asked Shao Pengcheng for fashion advice on what color dress or skirt she should wear, leaving him puzzled. Meanwhile, Luo Zuer tried street food for the first time with one of Shao Pengcheng's colleagues.
