My True Friend Episode 36 Recap
> My True Friend Recap
Fu Xiao Ning and Xi Shan stand on a rooftop, playfully envisioning their future wedding. Xi Shan describes an idyllic scene with both their parents, relatives, and friends, where she, in the most beautiful wedding gown, would wait for Fu Xiao Ning to put a diamond ring on her finger. Fu Xiao Ning expresses concern about the expense of such a ring, but Xi Shan reassures him that she was only joking.
She clarifies that a ring is merely a symbol, and his presence alone would bring her happiness. She thanks him for being willing to be with a man like him, who currently "has nothing." Fu Xiao Ning then playfully asks if she would marry "the impoverished Mr. Fu Xiao Ning," who is "brilliant, confident, elegant, and unrestrained," and she readily agrees, proclaiming her willingness to do anything for him.
Meanwhile, at a bar, Mu Yunping concludes a business call with Director Jiang about a real estate project. He then meets with a headhunter who acknowledges his challenging position at Love & Family. The headhunter extends a sincere offer from Director Sun for Mu Yunping to join their company, Hong Shi, promising him opportunities to excel. Mu Yunping acknowledges the widespread knowledge of his situation and appreciates Director Sun's trust, especially at such a moment.
He requests a few days to consider the offer before providing his answer. Shao Pengcheng reassures Zhen Zhen that he has a solution to the ongoing rumors and slanders, urging her not to worry. He then records video testimonials from former clients. Several clients praise Zhen Zhen and Shao Pengcheng as exceptional and dedicated property agents. They recall how the duo provided practical advice, considered their needs, and even helped their son with psychological pressure during a move.
Another client expresses gratitude for their help in securing a house below market price and arranging a free interior design consultation, which allowed her mother to receive good medical treatment. Shao Pengcheng next approaches Mu Yunping, hoping to obtain a statement about Zhen Zhen rescuing his son, Mu Mu. However, Mu Yunping refuses, reasoning that as an involved party, his testimony would be counterproductive and only worsen the rumors. Shao Pengcheng is disheartened by this refusal.
Back at the Flower Garden branch, seeing Shao Pengcheng's low spirits, Fu Xiao Ning suggests interviewing Mu Mu instead, arguing that children are less utilitarian and their accounts more reliable. Shao Pengcheng agrees with the idea enthusiastically. He visits Mu Mu at his kindergarten, where the boy eagerly recounts how Sister Zhen Zhen saved him from an unknown woman at the market, noting that Zhen Zhen even sustained an injury during the incident.
Concurrently, Luo Zu'er frantically tries to contact Shao Pengcheng, sending numerous messages after her calls go unanswered. She had organized a KTV gathering with friends. Fu Xiao Ning, finding Shao Pengcheng’s phone at the office, is alarmed by Luo Zu'er’s messages, which include a threat of suicide. Xi Shan expresses her annoyance, questioning why Fu Xiao Ning always gets involved with Luo Zu'er.
Fu Xiao Ning explains Luo Zu'er's volatile temper and his concern that she might act impulsively, promising to return once he ensures her safety. At the KTV, Fu Xiao Ning finds Luo Zu'er arguing with friends who question Shao Pengcheng's absence and her dedication to him. When a friend insults Fu Xiao Ning for being an agent, he intervenes and escorts a tearful and intoxicated Luo Zu'er out.
Outside, she emotionally expresses her confusion and sadness over Shao Pengcheng's pursuit of Zhen Zhen, despite Zhen Zhen having a boyfriend, and repeatedly asserts her claim on Shao Pengcheng. Later, Xi Shan calls Fu Xiao Ning, urging him to return. Luo Zu'er, still with Fu Xiao Ning, snatches the phone and spitefully tells Xi Shan that only Xiao Ning is good to her, which greatly angers Xi Shan.
Back at the Flower Garden branch, Mei Li’s brother and sister-in-law storm in, creating a chaotic scene. They loudly accuse Mei Li of unethical behavior, claiming she sold them an undesirable house for her own commission and that she has lost her conscience. Mei Li defends herself, reminding them she worked hard to find them a house below market price and even paid the ¥50,000 agent fee herself.
Her sister-in-law dismisses her defense, attempting to throw hot water at Mei Li, which leads to a physical altercation. Mei Li sustains scratches, and the office is left in disarray. The relatives then reveal the core of their grievance: the house Mei Li sold them was "inauspicious" because a man had committed suicide there.
Mei Li is shocked, claiming she had no knowledge of this detail as the information was not disclosed when the house was listed, and it was outside her familiar work area. Her relatives demand a full refund for the house, for which they had made a ¥1,000,000 down payment, collected from friends and family.
Manager Zeng steps in, trying to pacify Mei Li's sister-in-law, who dramatically throws herself to the floor, threatening to expose the agency if her demands aren't met. Manager Zeng explains Love & Family's policy: in cases of serious undisclosed property issues, the company will buy back the house at the original price. Hearing this, Mei Li’s sister-in-law immediately stands up, demanding an immediate refund.
Manager Zeng clarifies that the process involves verifying the claims, signing an agreement, and a series of transfers, which cannot be completed in just a day or two. Frustrated by the delay, Mei Li's sister-in-law once again collapses to the floor, continuing her protest and demanding a swift refund. Shao Pengcheng arrives at the office to find it in ruins and Xi Shan cleaning up. He learns about Mei Li’s relatives’ outburst and her injuries.
Xi Shan also informs him that Fu Xiao Ning went to comfort Luo Zu'er after Shao Pengcheng left his phone behind. Later that evening, Shao Pengcheng visits Zhen Zhen, bringing her takeout. He recounts Mei Li's ordeal, and Zhen Zhen, sympathetic, remembers how Mei Li almost made an unauthorized "side deal" for that house but ultimately ensured the agent's fee was paid.
Zhen Zhen realizes that because Mei Li followed protocol, the company can now buy back the house at the original price, preventing Mei Li's relatives from suffering financial loss. Zhen Zhen then recalls a former client, Mr. Li, an embalmer at a funeral parlor, who had previously sought an inexpensive home and was not superstitious.
She immediately calls Mr. Li, candidly explaining the house's history and its significantly below-market price, noting that it was at least ¥300,000-¥400,000 less than market value. Mr. Li, unfazed by the details, expresses strong interest and requests to see the house as soon as possible. The following morning, Mei Li’s brother and sister-in-law are seen sitting outside the Flower Garden branch, continuing their protest.
