Shao Pengcheng returned home dejected to find his father, Mr. Shao, waiting for him. Mr. Shao, disappointed, informed Shao Pengcheng that he had received the withdrawal notice from the university, ending his academic career. Starting tomorrow, Yun Ping would arrange for him to work at a real estate agency. Mr. Shao then somberly asked if Shao Pengcheng was angry with him because of his mother. Shao Pengcheng angrily retorted that Mr. Shao had no right to mention his mother.
Mr. Shao hoped the father and son could sit down and have a calm conversation, but Shao Pengcheng remained defiant, his words revealing self-abandonment. Mr. Shao sighed, saying he wouldn't watch his son fall, and reaffirmed that Yun Ping would arrange work for him the next day. Alone later, Shao Pengcheng visited an aquarium, watching dolphins and reflecting on his mother, tears welling in his eyes. That evening, Cheng Zhenzhen returned home to a bank bill, leaving her distraught.
Her spirits lifted when she received a message from Jing Ran, who sincerely thanked her for her design suggestions. He ended his message by expressing a desire for future interactions, making Cheng Zhenzhen's spirits lift even more. Realizing she couldn't stay dispirited, Cheng Zhenzhen resolved to find a job, and immediately opened a job hunting app to try her luck. The following morning, Yun Ping arrived at Shao Pengcheng's home with a detailed ledger.
He informed Shao Pengcheng that his father, Mr. Shao, would no longer provide direct financial support and had given him two options: either repay the sum, which covered all of Shao Pengcheng’s expenses since childhood excluding tuition—totaling over 8 million RMB—and break free from his father's control, or obey his father's wishes and accept a job at Love & Family real estate. Yun Ping had specifically chosen the Love & Family Hua Yuan Agency for him.
Shao Pengcheng, seeing no other choice, reluctantly accepted. Yun Ping then went to the Love & Family Hua Yuan Agency and formally announced Zeng Huimin as the new agency manager. Hao Meili was visibly displeased, as she believed the position should have been hers, finding the sudden appointment of someone else unacceptable. Meanwhile, Cheng Zhenzhen received an interview notification from the Hua Yuan Agency, the same office.
Shao Pengcheng arrived at the Hua Yuan Agency, where employees were performing a fitness dance. He mistakenly thought it was a welcoming gesture for him, only to realize he was mistaken. Zeng Huimin quickly disabused him of this notion, immediately penalizing him 100 RMB for being half an hour late on his first day. Shao Pengcheng was very unconvinced. Just then, Shao Pengcheng received a message from a friend.
His friend explained that he wanted to sell an apartment he had given his girlfriend because their relationship had soured. He asked Shao Pengcheng to pose as a representative sent by his father to buy the house. Shao Pengcheng quickly refused, deeming the plan unacceptable. Cheng Zhenzhen arrived for her interview with Zeng Huimin. She articulated her passion for helping every customer find a warm and suitable home. Zeng Huimin, however, was critical.
She pressed Cheng Zhenzhen on why she left her previous job, and after hearing her explanation, concluded that her "overly upright" nature made her unsuitable for the job. Just then, Shao Pengcheng and Yun Ping entered the agency. Seeing Shao Pengcheng, Cheng Zhenzhen quickly ran off angrily. Shao Pengcheng, seeing this, privately told Yun Ping that if he was expected to stay at the agency, Yun Ping needed to ensure Cheng Zhenzhen was hired.
Yun Ping then approached Zeng Huimin, hoping she would give Cheng Zhenzhen a chance. Yun Ping also mistakenly thought Shao Pengcheng and Cheng Zhenzhen had an ambiguous relationship. Soon after, Cheng Zhenzhen received a notification that she had passed the interview and was officially hired. She was dismayed upon discovering her assigned workstation was next to Shao Pengcheng. Cheng Zhenzhen had just sat down when Shao Pengcheng immediately started rambling.
Zeng Huimin then instructed them that they were partners and must distribute all the promotional flyers. After distributing flyers for a day, Shao Pengcheng complained bitterly, giving all the laborious tasks to Cheng Zhenzhen and keeping the easier office work for himself. Cheng Zhenzhen, fed up, lashed out on the spot. To prove his ability, Shao Pengcheng attempted to flirt with a woman at a nearby coffee shop to sell her a house.
However, as soon as he mentioned being a real estate agent, she abruptly left, leaving Shao Pengcheng hanging and Cheng Zhenzhen laughing at his failed attempt. Back at the agency, Zeng Huimin announced that all employees would have a knowledge assessment tomorrow. Cheng Zhenzhen carefully prepared and reviewed, while Shao Pengcheng appeared as cynical as ever, but was actually working hard in secret. The next morning, during the assessment, Zeng Huimin paired Shao Pengcheng and Cheng Zhenzhen.
Cheng Zhenzhen initially protested, fearing Shao Pengcheng would be a liability. However, to her surprise, Shao Pengcheng answered the questions articulately and with detailed knowledge about property information, virtual reality house viewing, property taxes, and policies, leaving Cheng Zhenzhen impressed by his unexpected competence.
