Wen Shaoqing was suspended from work for a month and had to stay home. Every morning, he busied himself with housework, but something felt missing. He picked up the phone to call Wen Rang, hoping to chat, but Wen Rang wasn't in the mood and hung up on him. Wen Shaoqing then took out his handmade knives and tinkered around the house until nightfall.
Suddenly remembering Zhong Zhen and the others, he called Zhong Zhen to ask about medical knowledge, but Zhong Zhen was busy with surgery and had no time for him. Cong Rong returned home and got a call from Zhong Zhen, who asked her to pay more attention to Wen Shaoqing, saying he seemed a bit too idle and was acting strange. Cong Rong became worried and saw Wen Shaoqing resting on the sofa.
She said she wanted to take a trip with him. It was only when they were on the plane that Wen Shaoqing realized Cong Rong was taking him home with her. Cong Rong said her “Dad Jiang” wanted to meet him. Although he wasn’t her biological father, he had treated both her and her mother very well. She shared many unforgettable childhood memories.
Wen Shaoqing discovered that Cong Rong's home was on a school campus and learned that Dad Jiang was a philosophy professor, which explained why she grew up there. Along the way, Wen Shaoqing tried to get information from Cong Rong, who deliberately shared stories of her school life and many admirers. When Cong Rong saw Dad Jiang digging in the lawn, he was pleased with Wen Shaoqing’s impressive appearance and said he would dig up the nu’er hong (a type of wine) he had buried when marrying Cong Rong's mother to serve Wen Shaoqing. Wen Shaoqing felt proud to be so well regarded as the future son-in-law. At Cong Rong’s house, Wen Shaoqing cooked himself, impressing Dad Jiang.
Seeing how outstanding Wen Shaoqing was, Dad Jiang said he felt at ease knowing someone like him would be protecting Cong Rong. Cong Rong’s mother handed Wen Shaoqing a pair of chopsticks to welcome him into the family. Dad Jiang kept pouring him wine, saying that a person’s drinking behavior reflects their character. Cong Rong tried to stop him, but her mother fully supported Dad Jiang.
After dinner, Dad Jiang talked candidly with Wen Shaoqing, telling him not to bully Cong Rong and that he had always seen her as his own daughter. Wen Shaoqing promised that being with Cong Rong made him very happy and that their relationship felt special. He vowed to always love her, hold her hand, and never let go, assuring Dad Jiang he would protect her well. After the chat, Dad Jiang went out for a walk.
Having had too much wine, Wen Shaoqing ended up drunk. Cong Rong took care of him and tried to get him into the guest room to sleep, but he insisted on going into her room instead. They fell onto the bed together. Cong Rong told him to go sleep in the guest room, saying it wouldn't look good if her parents saw.
Wen Shaoqing deliberately leaned over her and explained the medical theory behind drunkenness, claiming it was a test of a son-in-law’s drinking capacity and had to be done. Riding the wave of alcohol but staying clear-headed, he held Cong Rong and kissed her. She responded to his affection. Just then, Dad Jiang and Mom Jiang suddenly opened the door, startling them into sitting up. Wen Shaoqing whispered to Cong Rong to cooperate with him.
Mom Jiang, who had already sensed something, just smiled knowingly. Wen Shaoqing and Cong Rong were deeply in love, visiting scenic spots and enjoying good food together, which brought them even closer. Then Zhong Zhen called to inform him that the family of the patient in Bed No. 3 had sued both Wen Shaoqing and the hospital, demanding a huge settlement. Wen Shaoqing was summoned home by his grandfather. Wen’s father spoke with him via video call from overseas.
He didn’t scold him but advised him to stay mindful of his role, saying that from a doctor’s perspective, he hadn’t done anything wrong. Grandma Wen was very understanding and told Wen Shaoqing not to suppress himself. She gave him money for a trip and encouraged him to go out and relax with Cong Rong. While eating Grandma Wen’s porridge, Cong Rong said she wanted to represent Wen Shaoqing in the case.
The hospital leadership held a meeting and decided to have Wen Shaoqing return briefly, but there was no mention of reinstatement. Seeing Wen Shaoqing's back, Cong Rong hugged him and told him she would never let anything happen to him.
