The first problem she encountered during her internship was Wen Shaoqing.

The red rope of fate tied them tighter and tighter, and Wen Shaoqing was not only Cong Rong’s landlord, but also the neighbor door to door.

When the truth came out, Cong Rong realized that she had already fallen in love with Wen Shaoqing.

My Little Happiness Recap

Episode 1 Recap

The international flight from Melbourne, Australia to Shenzhen was about to take off. Cong Rong was on a video call with her mother. To keep her return a secret, Cong Rong pretended to be sunbathing on an Australian beach, hiding the fact that she had returned to China to report for her internship. Her mother had always hoped she would stay and develop her career in Australia.

Cong Rong's cousin Zhong Zhen couldn’t pick her up at the airport due to work, so he entrusted his “boss” to do it for him. While waiting at the airport, Cong Rong saw an elderly man suddenly collapse. She rushed over to help. Wen Shaoqing appeared, took swift action, contacted the emergency center, and professionally deduced that the man had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage due to a stroke. Cong Rong was impressed by Wen Shaoqing.

The two didn’t interact much, and just as Wen Shaoqing hurriedly left, Cong Rong picked up the pen he had accidentally dropped. As the time for her internship check-in drew near and Zhong Zhen’s friend still hadn’t shown up, Cong Rong had no choice but to scan a shared car code herself and rushed to Da Ren Law Firm just in time. She was received by the HR representative, Lucy.

Lucy emphasized that the requirements for working at Da Ren were very strict—only one of the five interns would be retained. Cong Rong drew an envelope and was assigned to Yunji Hospital. The other four interns were relieved not to be assigned there, as the in-hospital lawyer at Yunji often dealt with medical disputes, which was no different from doing menial tasks.

Cong Rong was very satisfied with the apartment Zhong Zhen found for her and immediately told him she was going to be his colleague, leaving Zhong Zhen stunned. Zhou Chengcheng drove a luxury car to Cong Rong’s residence and even brought her many household items, warmly welcoming her back to China. Wen Shaoqing prepared a whole table of appetizing dishes—only to make it up to his dog, Let-Yi.

Zhou Chengcheng took Cong Rong for a carefree drive and even got her a rose quartz crystal to attract romance, hoping she’d find love. When she asked Cong Rong if she liked anyone, the first image that flashed through Cong Rong’s mind was Wen Shaoqing from the airport. Seeing her hesitation, Zhou Chengcheng asked more, but Cong Rong just said he was someone she’d never meet again. Unexpectedly, at the supermarket entrance, she ran into Wen Shaoqing again.

Zhou Chengcheng was struck by his stunning appearance and tried to help Cong Rong add him on WeChat, but was coldly rejected by Wen Shaoqing. Director Yan of the hospital gave Cong Rong a brief introduction to Yunji Hospital and assigned her tasks including legal publicity, assisting with contract review, and coordinating medical disputes.

At that moment, a tricky case came up—a patient surnamed Lin believed Wen Shaoqing had misdiagnosed him and had been causing a scene in the hospital every day. Director Yan sent Cong Rong to the neurosurgery department to speak with Wen Shaoqing about the dispute. To her surprise, it was the same man from the airport. Wen Shaoqing avoided her, not wanting to waste work time.

He believed he had done nothing wrong and refused to cooperate with her mediation efforts. Cong Rong faked an illness to register at his clinic just to keep pestering him. Wen Shaoqing got angry and prescribed her placebo pills, unwilling to use his clinic time to discuss private matters. A nurse, seeing Cong Rong’s medical record, told her more about Wen Shaoqing.

Only then did Cong Rong realize that it was taboo to seek him out during clinic hours—he was extremely responsible with patients and wouldn’t waste a single minute. Wen Rang brought beer to drink with Wen Shaoqing, who reminisced about childhood. Under a big banyan tree, little Wen Shaoqing had cried sadly upon hearing little Cong Rong was leaving. They had promised to see each other again when school started, but years passed and he never saw her again.

Just then, it began to rain, and he saw a girl sheltering under a tree. To his shock, it was Cong Rong. She apologized, and although Wen Shaoqing initially ignored her, after hearing her introduce herself, he couldn’t help brushing aside her hair and pulling her into an embrace.

Episode 2 Recap

Wen Shaoqing thought Cong Rong had come to meet him as promised, but she didn’t recognize him from their childhood and insisted she was only there for work. He felt disappointed, and she didn’t understand his behavior. After finishing a meeting, Zhong Zhen called Wen Shaoqing, who dragged him to a boxing gym. Zhong Zhen didn’t dare to defy him. Cong Rong vented to Zhou Chengcheng, only to discover Zhou Chengcheng had opened a Western restaurant that was booming.

Cong Rong told her about seeing Wen Shaoqing at the hospital. Zhou Chengcheng believed it was fate and encouraged her to seize the opportunity and pursue the job she loved. Even though she thought Cong Rong, with her high degree and capabilities, would stay abroad, she admired her decision to return and switch fields.

That night, Cong Rong soaked in a bath and looked at the encouragement duck Zhou Chengcheng gave her, reminiscing about herself as a child chasing her father to ask about litigation law. After boxing, Wen Shaoqing handed Zhong Zhen a drink. Zhong Zhen found his sudden kindness suspicious.

Wen Shaoqing hinted that he knew Zhong Zhen had rented his own place out for Cong Rong and had also confirmed she didn’t have a boyfriend—she had always been surrounded by female friends. Zhong Zhen complained that if she had a boyfriend, he wouldn’t be suffering so much. Just then, a call came in—there was a power outage at Cong Rong’s apartment, and Zhong Zhen rushed over.

When Cong Rong opened the door in total darkness, she thought it was Zhong Zhen and hugged the person without hesitation—only to realize it was Wen Shaoqing. They sat down in the living room for a “negotiation. ” Zhong Zhen felt the atmosphere was weird and made an excuse to go buy snacks. Wen Shaoqing asked Cong Rong to add him on WeChat for work convenience. She was petty about it, saying she didn’t want to waste his precious time.

So he tempted her with the medical dispute summary about Grandpa Lin. For work’s sake, she reluctantly agreed to add him—only to find his WeChat name bizarre: Febuxostat. Back in her room, Cong Rong felt embarrassed about hugging Wen Shaoqing earlier, especially after openly commenting on how sexy his body was. Wen Shaoqing successfully added her and labeled her as “Heroine,” remembering how she once helped him as a child.

He messaged her, asking her to show up at 5 a. m. so he could give her the summary. Cong Rong replied that she wanted to see what tricks he was playing. She showed up as asked, and Wen Shaoqing had bought her sports gear to go jogging with him. Cong Rong agreed to do whatever it took for work, but made clear she wouldn’t casually give her heart or body. She urged him to hand over the report quickly.

Wen Shaoqing kept Cong Rong by his side while working. Chen Cu thought she was a new junior doctor, only to learn she was from the admin office. Zhong Zhen answered a question wrong and was punished to copy something 50 times, but still had to continue working. During a ward check, Qin Chu came over to work with Wen Shaoqing. Zhong Zhen told Cong Rong that Qin Chu and Wen Shaoqing were top-tier at the hospital.

Observing Wen Shaoqing’s rounds, Cong Rong quickly learned how to respond to patients—it was the same lines over and over, so she quickly memorized them. Zhou Chengcheng’s business was booming, and a staff member suggested adding more tables. She noticed the bookstore next door, Let-Yi Bookstore, and wanted to negotiate, but Wen Rang wouldn’t give her a chance. Still, she decided to place tables at the entrance.

After a day of rounds with Wen Shaoqing, Cong Rong gained new respect for how busy he was but still pressed him for the summary. During dinner, he received an emergency call and left for surgery. Cong Rong gave him her daytime hours, knowing her role in the hospital wasn’t something she could flaunt. Director Yan comforted her. Wen Rang didn’t want Zhou Chengcheng placing tables at the entrance and brought out Let-Yi to scare away customers.

Zhou Chengcheng ranted to Cong Rong and noticed her limited-edition sneakers. Cong Rong admitted they were from Wen Shaoqing but insisted it was to scare her off. Zhou Chengcheng didn’t believe her and said that was a clear sign of interest. After spending a day with him, Cong Rong saw a different side of Wen Shaoqing. When he came out of surgery and saw her asleep in a chair, he sat beside her and let her lean on his shoulder, just like when they were kids.

Episode 3 Recap

Zhong Zhen arrived outside the operating room and saw a girl resting on Wen Shaoqing’s shoulder. He quickly took a picture, zoomed in, and to his shock, it was Cong Rong. Zhou Chengcheng was still basking in the love of her boyfriend Xiao Lu when Cong Rong brought Wen Shaoqing to her restaurant for a meal.

Zhou Chengcheng introduced Xiao Lu as the VP of Tesnack and was very curious about Cong Rong and Wen Shaoqing’s relationship, thinking they were already involved. Cong Rong quickly clarified that she only brought him there after a surgery and not to overthink it. Zhou Chengcheng, starstruck, said if not for Xiao Lu, she would totally hit on Wen Shaoqing. Cong Rong chose a table outside. Wen Shaoqing explained how to perform a craniotomy using steak as a demo.

Cong Rong joked that it didn’t affect her appetite and casually ate a piece—only to find it super spicy. Wen Shaoqing recalled being bullied as a chubby kid and how little Cong Rong had helped him. She thought he was traumatized and was surprised when he covered her with his coat and took her to see Grandpa Lin. To her surprise, Grandpa Lin hadn’t been starving himself. Wen Shaoqing had secretly arranged for Zhong Zhen to deliver food at night.

Lin’s tantrums were due to his serious condition—better to keep him in the hospital under observation. Cong Rong’s impression of Wen Shaoqing changed again. Back home, she finished the summary and Wen Shaoqing helped her polish it. Full of joy, Cong Rong went to the hospital to submit her report, only to be gossiped about all along the way. Director Yan had heard the rumors too.

Doctors and nurses were speculating whether the girl in the photo was Cong Rong or Qin Chu. She found out Zhong Zhen had sent the photo and tugged his ear in anger. He pleaded for mercy, saying it was accidental and caused all the gossip. Cong Rong discussed with Wen Shaoqing whether to clarify things and avoid more contact. Wen Shaoqing proposed a playful rumor-busting strategy to make the nurses believe it wasn’t true.

Qin Chu witnessed this and later bragged in the break room that she had known Wen Shaoqing since university. Cong Rong wasn’t fazed. Zhong Zhen tried to help them clarify the rumor, thinking Wen Shaoqing seemed extra happy lately, and asked for an extension on his paper—only to backfire. Cong Rong wanted to talk to Grandpa Lin, but he was still pretending to starve. Then someone called and led him out.

She secretly followed and saw a man speak to Lin before taking him to a medical device company called Joyous Youth. Cong Rong took photos, was discovered, but cleverly escaped. Zhou Chengcheng was crushed after overhearing at a supermarket that her restaurant’s success was due to family money and that the food wasn’t even good. Her family told her not to take it too seriously and to treat it as a hobby.

Furious, she kicked out all the customers and sent her staff home. She drank alone, called Xiao Lu for comfort, but he pretended not to hear and hung up. Feeling ignored, Zhou Chengcheng drunkenly barged into the bookstore next door, disturbing Wen Rang’s business. Seeing her pitiful state, he didn’t drive her out. She collapsed on his bed, dropped her rose quartz bracelet, and even bit Wen Rang’s arm hard.

Cong Rong told Wen Shaoqing about Grandpa Lin being taken away and suspected he had ulterior motives for demanding a refund. Wen Shaoqing was furious—mainly out of concern for her safety. Just then, Cong Rong received a call from Wen Rang. She and Wen Shaoqing went to his bookstore and discovered that he and Wen Shaoqing knew each other. Wen Rang asked when Wen Shaoqing would tell Cong Rong.

Wen Shaoqing said not yet—as long as she stayed by his side. Wen Shaoqing helped bring the drunk Zhou Chengcheng home, but she threw up on him. Cong Rong, embarrassed, handed him her bathrobe to wear. Wen Shaoqing found her medical notes and praised her work, which surprised her deeply.

Episode 4 Recap

Zhou Chengcheng rolled off the bed and accidentally answered a video call from Cong Rong’s mother. Cong Rong’s mother spotted a man near the wardrobe and urged Cong Rong to open it. Thinking quickly, Wen Shaoqing covered his head with clothes, and Cong Rong lied that it was Zhou Chengcheng.

Cong Rong’s mother was curious why the room didn’t look like Cong Rong’s, so Cong Rong explained that they were staying at a rental because Zhou Chengcheng had come to visit. Wanting to join Cong Rong in Australia as soon as possible, her mother quickly enrolled in an English class. They chatted for hours. Wen Shaoqing, sitting cramped in the wardrobe, complained that his legs had gone numb and asked Cong Rong for help.

When she reached over to pull him, he yanked her onto himself and held her. Startled, Cong Rong thought he was going to do something inappropriate, but Wen Shaoqing said he just wanted her to experience the feeling of numb legs. Zhong Zhen came to deliver clothes for Wen Shaoqing. Cong Rong told Wen Shaoqing not to come out to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, but he ignored her and deliberately appeared in pajamas in front of Zhong Zhen.

Zhong Zhen instantly felt like he’d seen something he shouldn’t have. On the drive back, Zhong Zhen mentioned Cong Rong’s past: her mother had firmly opposed her becoming a lawyer and didn’t believe she would like someone like Wen Shaoqing. Wen Shaoqing was confused. Zhong Zhen read out the type of man Cong Rong once described in school as her ideal and teased him for not being gentle or considerate enough.

Wen Shaoqing snatched the notebook, tore out the page, and dropped Zhong Zhen off on the roadside before they reached their destination. Early in the morning, Cong Rong got up, determined to handle Grandpa Lin’s case and prepare breakfast for Zhou Chengcheng before heading to work. Grandpa Lin showed up at the admin office to discuss getting a refund for his hospital admission.

Wen Shaoqing made time to come over and explained that they hadn’t scheduled his surgery yet because of a shortage of hospital beds and because they hadn’t finalized a diagnosis. This time, Wen brought a treatment plan developed with international doctors. Grandpa Lin refused to even look at the plan, saying Wen Shaoqing was too young and inexperienced. He showed a foreign medical report stating he was not ill and demanded a refund and compensation.

Although Grandpa Lin’s words were harsh, Wen Shaoqing still gave a professional response: if Grandpa Lin didn’t undergo surgery soon, his brain tumor might rupture and threaten his life. An elderly man who had vomited at the airport previously came to the hospital with his grandson to deliver a banner in praise of Wen Shaoqing’s excellent medical skills and ethics. Wen quickly took a photo to share with Cong Rong and arranged to meet her in the cafeteria for lunch.

Cong Rong tried to persuade Grandpa Lin not to act impulsively and warned him that the company Xihuantong might be a scam. Grandpa Lin didn’t believe her. He said the man involved was his own son and that being deceived didn’t matter to him. When Zhou Chengcheng woke up, she was worried about the restaurant and rushed over, only to find that the furniture had been sold off and her credit card had been used.

Furious, she went to the hotel and saw Xiao Lu being intimate with another woman—shockingly, the woman was her own receptionist. Xiao Lu didn’t apologize; instead, he publicly belittled Zhou Chengcheng, saying he only pursued her because of her wealth. Angered, Zhou Chengcheng threw a cup of water, but Xiao Lu blocked it and it splashed on her own face. Wen Rang, who was nearby discussing a business deal, couldn't stand it anymore.

He gave Xiao Lu a poetic scolding and then comforted Zhou Chengcheng. Wen Shaoqing realized that Cong Rong hadn’t shown up for lunch and guessed she had gone to Xihuantong Medical Equipment Company. Cong Rong quietly entered the company, saw a group of elderly people being deceived, and snuck into the payment room to cut the POS terminal cable and smudge the payment QR code.

Hiding under a desk, she warned everyone not to pay, revealing that it was a scam company targeting retirees’ pensions. The scammers were furious and dragged her into a small room, intending to harm her—just in time, Wen Shaoqing arrived and took the blow for her. Wen Shaoqing was furious and told Cong Rong to stop putting herself in danger. He was clearly worried but couldn’t express it directly.

Cong Rong felt like he was criticizing her, but she simply couldn’t stand to watch people being scammed. When Wen Shaoqing got injured, Cong Rong helped clean his wound, and the moment made her reflect on the complexity of human relationships. Wen Rang, feeling down because his poetry collection wasn’t popular, went to the riverside to clear his head and coincidentally ran into Zhou Chengcheng. He returned the pink crystal to her. Zhou Chengcheng wanted to throw it away but couldn’t bring herself to do it.

Episode 5 Recap

Grandpa Lin was rushed to the ER with a brain hemorrhage, and Wen Shaoqing quickly arranged surgery. Seeing the operating room brought back memories for Cong Rong of watching her father being wheeled in when she was a child. The bleeding was serious, and Wen Shaoqing asked Zhong Zhen to quickly locate and stop the source. Worried, Cong Rong was told by Wen Shaoqing to go home and rest, and not to blame herself.

Zhong Zhen wanted to sleep, but doctors don’t have that privilege. Wen asked him to help with one task before he could rest. Wen Shaoqing asked Zhong Zhen to find Zhou Chengcheng to comfort Cong Rong, who was likely feeling guilty. Zhou Chengcheng compared the tumor to a scumbag, saying Grandpa Lin’s condition would have happened sooner or later and told Cong Rong not to blame herself. Seeing a photo of Cong Rong sleeping put Wen Shaoqing at ease.

Zhong Zhen realized Wen Shaoqing had feelings for Cong Rong, but kept quiet. Cong Rong went out for a run in the morning, and Wen Shaoqing followed her. He wanted to ask her something but didn’t know how to begin, so instead asked why she wasn’t wearing his clothes. Cong Rong dodged the question, saying she was going shopping. Wen Shaoqing, having a day off, offered to accompany her.

At the supermarket, he picked out an XXL men’s pajama set and asked her to take it home—just in case he needed it someday. Zhou Chengcheng insisted on independence in front of her parents. Her mother thought she was too troublesome, and her father just wanted her to be happy and spend money. When they challenged her to return everything if she was serious, she really brought everything back—the car keys and all the credit cards—showing her determination.

While Wen Rang was rock climbing, a publisher called, saying his poetry book wasn’t profitable and asking him to cover the publishing costs himself, which frustrated him. Zhou Chengcheng, now without a sports car, struggled with walking and happened to see Wen Rang on a bicycle. It felt like a prince riding in to save her. She shamelessly asked for a ride but ended up getting fined by a traffic officer and didn’t even have 50 yuan.

Wen Rang paid the fine, left her the bicycle, and took a taxi. Cong Rong bought daily necessities for Grandpa Lin and visited him in the hospital. She told him the good news that the money had been recovered and left her phone number with him. Wen Shaoqing saw this heartwarming moment. He followed her all the way home and silently watched her enter the apartment safely, without her noticing.

Zhou Chengcheng, who couldn’t ride a bicycle, had to push it home. When she saw Wen Rang eating barbecue, she wanted to scold him for being ungentlemanly but gave in immediately when she saw the food and declared she wanted to open a BBQ restaurant. Cong Rong received a message—Lucy had called for a gathering to hear everyone’s reflections on their internship. She praised Jingjing for her capability and winning a film contract for the law firm.

That night during karaoke, Jingjing talked to Cong Rong, saying she didn’t belong in the law firm because she wasn’t a law major and questioned her relationship with Lawyer Shangguan. Cong Rong replied that her background wasn’t a problem and that she trusted Shangguan Yi’s judgment—she just wanted to stay at the law firm. Grandpa Lin woke up, making Cong Rong ecstatic. She ran over and hugged Wen Shaoqing, finally feeling relieved.

She lamented that if her father had met Wen Shaoqing back then, maybe he could have been saved. Wen Shaoqing took Cong Rong home and stayed until she fell asleep before leaving. The next day, as Cong Rong went to work, she received sweet reminders from Wen Shaoqing. All the stores along her route had their tabs paid, which she thought Zhou Chengcheng had done, only to run into Wen Shaoqing again—reminding her of last night’s hug.

Grandpa Lin made a banner for Cong Rong and Wen Shaoqing, and Cong Rong stopped having nightmares. When Cong Rong got home, she found a pile of boxes at her door. Opening one, she discovered a bunch of human bones and was so terrified that she immediately called Zhou Chengcheng for help and stood at the door with an umbrella. Suddenly, someone tapped her on the shoulder—it was Wen Shaoqing, and she screamed in fright.

Episode 6 Recap

Terrified, Cong Rong turned around, trying to hit the person with her umbrella—only to be hugged. Looking up, she saw it was Wen Shaoqing. Zhou Chengcheng arrived too and, seeing them embrace, assumed Wen Shaoqing had feelings for Cong Rong. That’s when Cong Rong realized the person who had been following her and paying her tabs was Wen Shaoqing.

His homemade food even tempted Zhou Chengcheng, who urged Cong Rong to think carefully about how their relationship had developed, believing all of Wen Shaoqing’s actions spoke of love. Now that Wen Shaoqing had become her neighbor, he pretended to bump into her in the morning and delivered loving breakfasts—enough to make Cong Rong question reality. When Cong Rong asked about the symbol on his sticky notes, Wen Shaoqing explained it was the formula for dopamine, leaving her puzzled.

Zhou Chengcheng praised his soup and was surprised to learn that Wen Shaoqing wanted to become the ideal stay-at-home man, which shocked Cong Rong. Zhou Chengcheng kept pressing him, making Cong Rong feel awkward and deep in thought at night. Wen Shaoqing followed Cong Rong onto the bus. A sudden stop caused them to fall into each other’s arms again, making Cong Rong shy. She quickly said goodbye after getting off.

Zhong Zhen brought her good news—he was entering a competition, thanks to Wen Shaoqing’s encouragement. When Cong Rong asked why he always praised Wen Shaoqing, Zhong Zhen said he admired him deeply ever since their third year in college, when Wen Shaoqing performed multiple surgeries and still took the time to patiently explain to patients’ families. That moment inspired Zhong Zhen to pursue medicine seriously.

Director Yan asked Wen Shaoqing to bring Zhong Zhen and Chen Cu to the upcoming medical knowledge competition. Wen Shaoqing was about to ask a question about medical disputes when Cong Rong walked in. Director Yan quickly left them alone. Cong Rong told Wen Shaoqing not to participate in the competition since he already worked so hard. Wen Shaoqing leaned in, saying she could guide him on medical disputes and that, since they lived close, they could meet at night.

Cong Rong thought Zhou Chengcheng’s analysis was spot-on—Wen Shaoqing was intentionally using work to get close to her. Zhou Chengcheng returned money to Wen Rang and took the opportunity to ask if Wen Shaoqing liked anyone. Wen Rang replied with poetic phrases that Zhou Chengcheng didn’t quite understand. While Wen Shaoqing was demonstrating surgical knots at the school, he got a call from Wen Rang, who told him what Zhou Chengcheng had asked.

Wen Shaoqing was overjoyed but pretended to stay calm. Wen Shaoqing brought Rangrang to meet Cong Rong, startling her so much she fell and hit her head on a flowerpot. His concerned reaction left Cong Rong flustered. He insisted she get checked at the hospital. Qin Chu saw him needing registration and helped out, only to discover the patient was Cong Rong. Wen Shaoqing arranged for a scan and asked her to be observed overnight—at his place.

Embarrassed, Cong Rong refused, but Wen Shaoqing said he only wanted to take responsibility, since Rangrang had caused her fall. Zhou Chengcheng apologized to Wen Rang for the noise from her renovation, and Wen Rang offered her a yogurt. Zhou Chengcheng opened up about feeling neglected by her parents, and Wen Rang said he felt the same—elders are all alike. When Cong Rong returned home, she found the electronic lock was out of power and couldn’t open the door.

Wen Shaoqing invited her to stay at his place and punished Rangrang by denying her cookies, making Rangrang feel out of favor. Cong Rong secretly took pictures of Wen Shaoqing cooking and thought of posting them to the hospital forum to make the nurses go crazy. Wen Shaoqing deliberately asked her to help him wear an apron; when their bodies brushed, Cong Rong was flustered. Wen Shaoqing’s cooking skills were indeed impressive.

Cong Rong even thought about recommending him a disciple. After dinner, she was forced to wash the dishes. Wen Shaoqing gave her his bedroom, and Cong Rong, lying in his bed, couldn’t sleep. She asked if he liked her. Wen Shaoqing replied, “Yes, I like you.”

Episode 7 Recap

Cong Rong felt herself losing control, unable to resist Wen Shaoqing’s allure. When she saw Wen Shaoqing leaning in for a kiss, she completely surrendered. But when the alarm went off, Cong Rong realized it had all been a dream—and a rather indecent one at that—leaving her feeling deeply embarrassed. After leaving her room and seeing that Wen Shaoqing wasn’t home, Cong Rong hurried back to her own place.

Just then, Wen Shaoqing returned from walking the dog and helped her open the door. The close proximity made Cong Rong feel flustered and awkward. She splashed her face with cold water to remind herself not to think too much about Wen Shaoqing. Before she could fully collect herself, Wen Shaoqing came in again to help her make breakfast and even suggested they eat together.

Cong Rong insisted on contributing to the living expenses, saying she didn’t want it to seem like she was taking advantage of him, and Wen Shaoqing agreed. While they were eating, Wen Shaoqing tried to pat her head, but Cong Rong instinctively blocked his hand. Seeing Wen Shaoqing lean closer, she became visibly nervous—something Wen Shaoqing immediately noticed. Cong Rong pretended to deny her nervousness, but her racing heart betrayed her, which Wen Shaoqing could clearly see.

After he left, Cong Rong was puzzled—normally she could talk circles around anyone, but around Wen Shaoqing, she stammered. Zhou Chengcheng invited Cong Rong out to eat and shared how rewarding it was to run her own shop. She then brought up Cong Rong’s relationship with Wen Shaoqing. To change the subject, Cong Rong asked to borrow some concealer and mentioned her childhood “Little Chubby.”

Zhou Chengcheng said she had heard about Little Chubby since college and wondered why Cong Rong hadn’t looked for him after returning to China. She speculated that he might’ve transformed into a handsome guy like Eddie Peng. Cong Rong began crushing on Wen Shaoqing. When Director Yan mentioned that the thermos wasn't hot, Cong Rong misheard it as Wen Shaoqing’s name and kept following him during hospital rounds.

Wen Shaoqing studied her brain CT scan, puzzled that she still didn’t realize his feelings—he thought he had made it quite obvious. Zhou Chengcheng asked Wen Rang to help her shop for hotpot ingredients at the market, but she didn’t understand a thing and was nearly overcharged by the vendors. Luckily, Wen Rang remained calm and pretended to know what he was doing, impressing Zhou Chengcheng.

She asked him to teach her, and the two ended up playfully teasing each other. When Wen Rang carried her groceries, he complained she didn’t call a cab—was she getting back at him for ditching her on a bike last time? Zhou Chengcheng ran off laughing. When Cong Rong didn’t see Wen Shaoqing arrive on time, she assumed he was late, but he had actually arrived early. She quickly took out her phone to touch up her makeup.

While discussing legal topics, Wen Shaoqing fluently answered all of her questions without a single mistake, surprising Cong Rong—she joked he must’ve eaten memory bread. Wen Shaoqing leaned in close and asked if getting everything right earned him a reward. Flustered again, Cong Rong’s heart pounded. She jumped up, told him to think about what reward he wanted, and ran off—feeling even more smitten.

At the hospital, Cong Rong looked for a chance to visit Wen Shaoqing’s office but couldn’t find him. Zhong Zhen came in and handed her a letter, saying Wen Shaoqing had asked him to give it to her before going on a business trip. Zhong Zhen assumed Wen Shaoqing wanted Cong Rong to look after him, but in reality, the instructions were for her to take care of Rang Yi Rang.

Zhou Chengcheng invited Cong Rong to taste her homemade barbecue, and it was unexpectedly delicious. Cong Rong checked her phone and complained that Wen Shaoqing hadn’t contacted her all day. When she got home, she went to check on Rang Yi Rang and even took pictures for Wen Shaoqing, describing the details. While walking Rang Yi Rang, the dog dashed off too quickly and tired her out—Wen Shaoqing watched quietly from nearby.

While lying on the sofa, Cong Rong planned to look through a photo album but was startled by Wen Shaoqing coming in. She dropped the album and missed the photo of Little Chubby—still unaware that Wen Shaoqing was him.

Episode 8 Recap

Chen Cu had to withdraw from a medical knowledge competition due to a family emergency. Wen Shaoqing couldn’t reschedule, and Zhong Zhen, who had been diligently preparing, didn’t want to miss the contest. Wen Shaoqing suggested Cong Rong take Chen Cu’s place. Director Yan agreed and told Cong Rong to cram with Wen Shaoqing for one night—no need to win, just keep the score stable. Zhong Zhen suggested cramming at Zhou Chengcheng’s barbecue shop, where they could study while eating.

Cong Rong found the medical knowledge too complicated and didn’t understand many of the concepts. After Zhou Chengcheng finished work, she wanted to go next door to read at Wen Rang’s bookstore and asked Cong Rong to help close up. During their group discussion, Qin Chu noticed how considerate Wen Shaoqing was toward Cong Rong and felt a twinge of jealousy. At the competition, teams from different hospitals were fiercely competing.

Zhong Zhen was extremely nervous, and Cong Rong worried about messing up. Wen Shaoqing held her hand to calm her, promising to take her somewhere afterward. When the host announced the winning team—Yunji Medical—everyone took a group photo. However, the photographer asked Wen Shaoqing and Qin Chu to stand closer together. Seeing this, Cong Rong felt jealous and left before the others.

At the supermarket, Cong Rong was distracted, replaying the comments she’d overheard at the competition—people said Wen Shaoqing and Qin Chu looked like a perfect match and would surely have beautiful children. On the way home, Cong Rong spotted two dog traffickers and mistook the dog they had for Rang Yi Rang. She quickly took photos as evidence, leaving the men speechless. After bringing the dog home, she scolded Wen Shaoqing for being an irresponsible owner.

Wen Shaoqing, utterly confused, pointed out that Rang Yi Rang was right at home. Only then did Cong Rong realize she had brought back the wrong dog—just the same breed. Feeling embarrassed, she rushed back to her place. Wen Shaoqing later texted her saying the real dog's owner had been found and thanked “his girlfriend,” making Cong Rong secretly happy. But she also realized she shouldn’t continue being ambiguous with Wen Shaoqing. The next morning, Cong Rong left early.

When Wen Shaoqing came out, he saw her note and headed to the hospital alone. At the hospital, Qin Chu told him that, due to winning the competition, the hospital had issued a bonus and she wanted to discuss how to use it. Chen Cu overheard and wanted to join in the fun. Cong Rong saw the three walking together, and Zhong Zhen added fuel to the fire by commenting that the trio looked perfect together.

Chen Cu suggested camping, which Qin Chu agreed to, but Wen Shaoqing only cared about Cong Rong’s opinion. Wen Shaoqing pulled Cong Rong aside on the rooftop to ask why she had been ignoring him and refusing to eat the breakfast he made. Cong Rong suppressed her jealousy without saying anything, leaving Wen Shaoqing confused. Qin Chu saw them close together and became distracted in the break room, lamenting how passive she’d become.

Chen Cu noticed and said that Wen Shaoqing and Qin Chu had always been a perfect pair, respectful and well-matched, and urged her to seize the chance. Zhou Chengcheng's barbecue shop had its grand opening, but there was barely any business despite her handing out flyers. She turned to Wen Rang next door for help. She brought him a heap of barbecue to taste and asked for feedback. After eating, Wen Rang jokingly charged her thirty yuan for “consulting.”

He teased her for being too practical and advised her to think more like a marketer—then slyly sold her several books. Zhou Chengcheng realized too late that she’d been brainwashed and fumed. Wen Shaoqing visited the barbecue shop and asked Zhou Chengcheng to help bring Cong Rong on the camping trip. In return, he promised her a big order for catering the trip.

Zhou Chengcheng immediately signed the contract, which had an extra clause stating that Cong Rong must attend. Cong Rong had no choice but to agree. Zhou Chengcheng also got insider info from Wen Shaoqing and used it to blackmail Wen Rang into cooperating. At the campsite, Wen Shaoqing suggested pitching the tents first, then enjoying the beach. San Bao talked about college memories in front of Cong Rong, making her jealous.

She teamed up with Zhou Chengcheng and pretended she was going on a blind date. Wen Shaoqing looked visibly nervous. San Bao noticed Wen Shaoqing liked Cong Rong and sided with them, though Chen Cu didn’t believe it. Zhong Zhen and Cong Rong teamed up to fly kites, but after seeing Wen Shaoqing and Qin Chu behind them, Zhong Zhen gave up and went back to nap, leaving Cong Rong alone.

Wen Shaoqing came over to ask if she was really going on a blind date. Cong Rong told him not to meddle and said her ideal guy must have fewer admirers. Wen Shaoqing then realized she was jealous and taught her to fly a kite, hand over hand.

Cong Rong’s heart fluttered wildly. Qin Chu noticed and quietly walked away. Wen Shaoqing later asked Cong Rong to meet him that night, saying he had something important to tell her. Everyone was busy preparing the venue. Wen Rang was helping Zhou Chengcheng with the barbecue. After tasting it, Zhou Chengcheng said it was amazing and asked him to work at her shop. Wen Rang refused. In the tent, Cong Rong realized two pillows were missing.

Wen Shaoqing immediately brought some over. When their eyes met, Cong Rong quickly looked away and left to eat barbecue. That night, they played a game where everyone wrote anonymous questions on slips of paper. The rule: whoever’s name was drawn had to answer truthfully. The first question went to Zhong Zhen—clearly written by himself. Then someone asked Wen Rang if he’d ever had a heartbreakingly deep love—obviously Zhou Chengcheng’s question.

Finally, two questions for Wen Shaoqing were drawn: whether he had someone he liked present, and if he had known that person for a long time. He answered yes to both. Cong Rong assumed he meant Qin Chu, unaware that Wen Shaoqing’s eyes were on her the entire time. Cong Rong and Qin Chu shared a tent. Cong Rong remembered that Wen Shaoqing had asked to meet her that night, but before she could leave, Qin Chu stopped her.

She asked to take a walk. At the beach, Qin Chu twisted her ankle and took the opportunity to confess: Wen Shaoqing had once saved her life during a university medical outreach in a remote mountain village. She begged Cong Rong not to come between her and Wen Shaoqing. Cong Rong knew she had already fallen for him, but when Wen Shaoqing reached out, she let Qin Chu take his hand instead.

Seeing Cong Rong walk off alone, Wen Shaoqing quickly followed and invited her to see a moon model he made as a child. Cong Rong pulled away and calmly stated that they were just neighbors and colleagues, and asked him not to misunderstand. Though hurt, she would only be with someone she truly liked. After finishing surgery, Wen Shaoqing left breakfast outside Cong Rong’s door, but she didn’t take it.

Qin Chu dressed up and invited Wen Shaoqing to dinner, but he declined. When she mentioned it was about Cong Rong, he finally agreed—otherwise, no one could have persuaded him. Hearing from Zhong Zhen that Wen Shaoqing had gone to dinner, Cong Rong was upset. He had been cold and distant since the camping trip, and the only person who could get him to eat was Qin Chu.

She dragged Zhong Zhen to eat steak and watched from the window like a stalker. Qin Chu was about to confess when Wen Shaoqing interrupted her. When Wen Shaoqing returned to the apartment, he knocked hard on the door. Cong Rong, thinking it was food delivery, was startled. He asked why she kept avoiding him. Cong Rong finally snapped, accusing him of liking Qin Chu while still flirting with her.

Wen Shaoqing firmly told her he didn’t like Qin Chu and that the one he had feelings for might still be clueless. Cong Rong couldn’t figure out who he meant. Cong Rong’s mother and younger sister visited Yunji Hospital, intending to get a cosmetic procedure. Zhong Zhen immediately texted Cong Rong to warn her, but they still ran into each other. Her mother fainted from shock upon seeing Cong Rong had returned to work.

After waking up, her mother was furious to learn that Cong Rong had resumed her legal career and strongly disapproved. To ease her worries, Cong Rong lied and said she was working in medical finance at the hospital. Her mother didn’t believe her and insisted on staying at the hospital for a few days. Sensing trouble, Wen Shaoqing told her mother the hospital fees were expensive. Alarmed, her mother quickly decided to go home. Wen Shaoqing drove them back.

Hearing the rent was only 2,000 yuan, her mother assumed the neighborhood must be terrible. At the door, Cong Rong suddenly remembered her law books were on the table and rushed inside to hide them, stuffing her hospital internship contract into the closet.

Episode 10 Recap

Cong Rong's mother and aunt came to her home. Seeing how exquisite her house was—definitely not the kind you could rent for just two thousand yuan—they suspected the landlord must be a generous philanthropist. Zhong Zhen immediately blurted out that the house was rented out by Wen Shaoqing. Wen Shaoqing explained that his own house was right next door and that he was Cong Rong’s neighbor. Cong Rong’s mother beamed with delight and curiously asked whether Wen Shaoqing was single.

Everyone knew what she was implying but didn’t point it out. Her attitude shifted instantly; upon seeing such an outstanding man living next to her daughter, she agreed to let Cong Rong stay in the country. Zhong Zhen’s expression changed immediately. He even called Wen Shaoqing outside to talk in private, asking whether he truly liked Cong Rong, and saying he couldn’t let her get hurt—even though Wen Shaoqing was his boss.

Wen Shaoqing was touched but still thought Zhong Zhen lacked common sense. Zhou Chengcheng’s BBQ restaurant was gradually gaining popularity. She bought a lot of ingredients and discussed storing them in Wen Rang’s room. But she accidentally broke Wen Rang’s guitar. Seeing the broken guitar reminded Wen Rang of his ex-girlfriend Xiao Jiang, and he impulsively lashed out at Zhou Chengcheng. Zhou Chengcheng was very hurt and said she wouldn’t come back until the guitar was repaired.

Wen Shaoqing invited Cong Rong and her mother to his home for dinner and personally cooked a variety of dishes. Cong Rong’s mother was very satisfied with him. From details like his book collection and shoe rack, she could tell Wen Shaoqing was a decent man. During the meal, she asked about his family and learned that he came from a family of doctors and had never been in a relationship.

She then deliberately asked what kind of girls he liked, and Wen Shaoqing answered that he liked the type just like Cong Rong. Embarrassed, Cong Rong took her bowl and headed to the kitchen to wash dishes, only to accidentally use an entire bottle of dish soap. Cong Rong’s mother quietly told Wen Shaoqing that if he truly liked her daughter, she hoped he would treat her well.

Wen Shaoqing went to the kitchen and helped wash her hands, guiding her hand-in-hand. If her mother hadn’t interrupted, Cong Rong would have stayed in that moment a while longer. Zhou Chengcheng finally repaired the guitar and returned to her BBQ restaurant, where she saw that Wen Rang had brought some friends to support her. Wen Rang apologized for his earlier harsh words and hoped Zhou Chengcheng didn’t take them to heart.

Encouraged by her, Wen Rang picked up the guitar and played. Looking at him, Zhou Chengcheng felt even more drawn to him. She recalled how they met, realizing they were practically fated frenemies. Cong Rong’s mother stayed at her home. Wen Shaoqing texted Cong Rong good night. Just then, the person she had been looking for—Little Chubby—finally replied. Overjoyed, she made plans to meet him. Wen Shaoqing wasn’t too happy when he heard she had a date.

Cong Rong asked Zhou Chengcheng to help her prepare an outfit—she was determined to look perfect for her meeting with Little Chubby. Dressed in a beautiful dress, Cong Rong received a photo from Little Chubby—it was of a very handsome man. Wen Rang noticed Wen Shaoqing’s expression and urged him to tell Cong Rong the truth before it was too late, but she had already gotten into a taxi.

Wen Shaoqing returned gloomily to the BBQ restaurant and admitted he liked Cong Rong. Zhou Chengcheng quickly revealed that Cong Rong’s date was with none other than the Little Chubby from her childhood. Alarmed, Wen Shaoqing rushed out to catch her. Cong Rong arrived and discovered that Little Chubby was actually an ugly, overweight old man. During their conversation, she quickly saw through his lies and tried to leave. The man chased after her, trying to take advantage of her.

But Cong Rong was fierce—she took off her high heels and gave him a solid beating. Wen Shaoqing arrived in time to witness this and smiled in relief at how strong she was. Cong Rong was unhappy. Wen Shaoqing kept asking about Little Chubby, but she didn’t want to answer. He took her under a tree and revealed that he was the real Little Chubby from her childhood.

Cong Rong was doubtful until he recalled shared childhood memories and confessed he had been waiting for her for twenty years. He knew it was her the moment they met again at the hospital. Overwhelmed, Cong Rong’s eyes filled with tears. Wen Shaoqing asked her to be his girlfriend and embraced her.

Episode 11 Recap

Back home, Cong Rong laughed and warned Wen Shaoqing not to talk nonsense at the hospital again or she’d seal his mouth with tape. She felt like she was in an idol drama—who would have thought Little Chubby had become such a handsome and charming man? Her mother kept asking questions. On the mirror was a sticky note from Cong Rong saying, “Today is the most important day.”

Cong Rong casually said she had just met an old childhood friend and urged her mom to go to bed early or the skincare treatments would be wasted. Her mother’s breakfast was a mess, but she told Cong Rong not to mind—she had already bought a train ticket to leave. With such a considerate man like Wen Shaoqing by her side, she felt reassured.

At the supermarket, Cong Rong ran into Wen Shaoqing, who asked if she had decided to be his girlfriend. She shyly walked away. Zhou Chengcheng had become a fan of Wen Rang. She hoped to see him every day, thinking he was talented and mysterious. She even found a book he wrote and pretended to seek his advice just to have a chance to talk to him.

Wen Rang told her the book wasn’t suitable for her and that he had to rush to go rock climbing. Zhou Chengcheng followed him and saw that he was a skilled climber, deepening her admiration. She even recorded a video of him climbing. Cong Rong felt a bit dizzy at the hospital, so Wen Shaoqing massaged her head. Their faces got very close.

Zhong Zhen suddenly entered, saw the scene, and quickly covered his face, asking if something was going on between them. He was worried Cong Rong would get hurt, but also jokingly gave them a couple name: “Green Onion Couple. ” Cong Rong told him to stop talking nonsense and get back to work. Before leaving, Cong Rong’s mother helped clean her house and accidentally found Cong Rong’s internship contract in the closet. It was with Darun Law Firm.

Furious, she stormed to the firm to resign on her daughter’s behalf. Hearing that Shangguan was returning, she remembered his signature was on the contract. Cong Rong received a call and, learning her mother wanted to resign for her, she panicked. Cong Rong’s mother spoke with Shangguan and insisted that Cong Rong shouldn’t be a lawyer, saying they could pay any penalties.

Shangguan didn’t quite understand, saying he had met Cong Rong before and thought she was a hardworking girl who had spent more time and effort than most to become a lawyer through self-study. Cong Rong arrived, apologized to Shangguan, and quickly took her mother away. Her mother didn’t want her to follow in her father’s footsteps, but Cong Rong firmly insisted on being a lawyer, leading to a heated argument.

Shangguan then drove Cong Rong home and encouraged her, saying everyone thought highly of her. His words lifted her spirits. Wen Shaoqing saw Shangguan drop her off, and the two men formally introduced themselves. Cong Rong couldn’t eat. Despite Wen Shaoqing’s delicious food, she was worried about her mother, who still hadn’t returned home or answered her calls. Her mother had gone to Zhou Chengcheng’s place. Zhou secretly let Cong Rong know, putting her at ease.

Wen Shaoqing personally drove her mother home. On the way, she shared that Cong Rong’s father had died because he had insisted on upholding justice as a lawyer. Wen Shaoqing said he couldn’t change the past but promised to take good care of Cong Rong. When her mother returned home and saw Cong Rong cooking, her anger faded. She only hoped her daughter would live a safe and peaceful life.

Her mother said she wouldn’t leave until Cong Rong got a boyfriend. So Cong Rong claimed she was already with Wen Shaoqing. Her mother was overjoyed. Wen Shaoqing even held Cong Rong’s hand at work and recorded sweet videos of them eating to send to her mother, who giggled and told Cong Rong not to be shy. Everyone around them smiled awkwardly.

Episode 12 Recap

Cong Rong’s mother visited her at the hospital and even bought movie tickets, asking Wen Shaoqing to take Cong Rong—hoping to bring the two closer. Unexpectedly, it was a horror movie, and Cong Rong got so scared that she instinctively clung to Wen Shaoqing. Her mother thought her plan had worked, unaware they were only pretending to be a couple and Cong Rong’s actions were just for show.

Before the movie ended, Wen Shaoqing took Cong Rong to climb some stairs, reminiscing about how they used to do it as kids. He carried her in his arms, and they gazed at each other affectionately. Wen Shaoqing wanted to turn their pretend relationship into a real one. Cong Rong said the most important thing to her now was passing the law firm’s presentation, and she wanted to wait until after that to consider being his girlfriend.

Wen Shaoqing said that if she didn’t pass, he’d give himself to her and be her boyfriend. Cong Rong gave silent approval. Back home, Cong Rong’s mother kept asking about her and Wen Shaoqing’s relationship. Cong Rong discovered her computer wasn’t working. Her mother admitted she broke it but suggested borrowing one from Wen Shaoqing. Cong Rong went to Wen Shaoqing’s house and saw him fresh out of the shower, hair still wet, and was mesmerized.

While writing her report, she kept sneaking glances at him. Wen Shaoqing was focused on work and looked incredibly charming, making her steal more looks. He suddenly looked up and caught her staring, and she quickly looked down in embarrassment. Wen Shaoqing came over and deliberately sat next to her. Cong Rong was already bracing herself for a kiss when Zhong Zhen’s QQ message came through, sending her two photos of Wen Shaoqing.

Wen Shaoqing asked if she was following him and even had Zhong Zhen reporting to her. She called Zhong Zhen to scold him, and he realized he had sent the photos to the wrong person—they were meant for Wen Shaoqing’s fan group. The next morning, Cong Rong woke to see Wen Shaoqing making breakfast at her house. He played it up in front of her mother, creating the impression of an intimate relationship. Even Let-Yi came to join the fun.

Her mother snapped a photo and wanted to send it to the family chat so everyone would envy her handsome son-in-law. Xiong Jingjing wanted to invite Shangguan to dinner. He was about to decline but saw Cong Rong approaching and agreed, saying he’d treat all the interns. Wen Shaoqing learned Zhong Zhen had secretly taken his photos. Zhong Zhen offered to help him win over Cong Rong—if Wen Shaoqing let him off the hook for his thesis.

Wen Shaoqing agreed, and Zhong Zhen immediately became his informant, tracking Cong Rong’s whereabouts. Following Jingjing’s plan, Cong Rong booked Zhou Chengcheng’s BBQ restaurant for the dinner. Zhou asked Wen Rang to help cook. At the same time, Wen Jiang’s mother was at the bookstore. Zhou helped Wen Jiang dodge her, and his mother reminded Wen Rang to visit home more and not to stay mad at his father, saying there’s no overnight grudge between father and son.

She advised him to seize any chance with a suitable girl, then glanced at Zhou Chengcheng. Seeing Wen Rang’s handsome figure, Zhou Chengcheng was so starry-eyed she nearly forgot her reason for asking him to help. Wen Rang agreed to help in the kitchen. When Jingjing arrived, she didn’t realize it was a buffet and casually took some raw oysters. Shangguan gave everyone a pep talk, hoping they’d perform well in the next day’s presentation.

During the meal, Wen Shaoqing secretly came to pick up Cong Rong and passed her a note. Jingjing noticed and warned her not to “eat from one bowl while thinking of another pot. ” Suddenly, Jingjing had a stomachache, and other interns had the same symptoms. Cong Rong rushed them to the hospital. Tests revealed food poisoning from bacteria. Jingjing’s condition was more severe, and she accused Cong Rong of doing it on purpose.

Shangguan stepped in to defuse the tension. Wen Shaoqing privately asked Shangguan not to let this incident affect Cong Rong’s performance review. Zhou Chengcheng felt very guilty for involving her best friend in the food poisoning incident. She accidentally broke a wine glass and cut her finger. Wen Rang bandaged her up, comforted her, and carried her to bed to rest. Cong Rong and Wen Shaoqing came to help clean up the restaurant.

When Zhou Chengcheng woke up and saw them, she was very touched. She tried to hug Wen Rang, but he was so startled that he dodged, and she ended up hugging Cong Rong instead.

Episode 13 Recap

After a whole night of hard work, Cong Rong was exhausted. She was rushing to finish her internship report for the law firm, and Wen Shaoqing had been taking care of her attentively the whole time. Cong Rong went to the law firm to find Shangguan Yi and proposed a plan: if the internship report deadline couldn’t be postponed, she would assist other interns at the hospital.

Seeing that Cong Rong always considered others, Shangguan Yi shared good news with her—Mr. Tan had agreed to adjust the schedule, and the internship report could be postponed. Cong Rong was thrilled and said she would go back right away to work on the report. The BBQ shop was shut down by the Bureau for Industry and Commerce. Zhou Chengcheng sat outside feeling down and complained about her bad luck. Wen Rang couldn’t bear to watch her like that.

He patted her head and told her that during the shop’s renovation period, she could help out at the bookstore. Encouraged by Wen Rang’s head pat, Zhou Chengcheng regained her fighting spirit and said she would find out the source of the BBQ shop’s problems. She snuck into the shop and discovered that the scallops smelled bad. Wen Rang helped her find the purchase ledger, which showed the buying price of the scallops was only three yuan—far too cheap.

Wen Shaoqing drove Cong Rong to the law firm. Seeing how nervous she was, he took out a comic he drew to encourage her to relax. Cong Rong took a deep breath and remained composed during the internship report presentation, delivering a solid performance. Zhou Chengcheng found the unscrupulous supplier and, as instructed by Wen Rang, pretended to buy seafood.

The supplier didn’t want to sell to her at first, but when she said she needed a large quantity, he thought he could make a lot of money and agreed to show her the supply channel. While he wasn’t paying attention, Zhou Chengcheng started recording a video on her phone. She followed him to a container and smelled a disgusting stench. The supplier showed no concern for food safety, which made Zhou Chengcheng furious.

She told him she had recorded the video and would expose him. When the man tried to attack her, Wen Rang heard the noise and rushed in to pull her away. Zhou Chengcheng felt like the whole thing was straight out of a Hong Kong crime thriller. She handed the video to the Bureau, and the food safety issue was finally resolved.

Cong Rong chatted with Zhou Chengcheng and was surprised to hear she had a crush on Wen Rang—after all, Wen Rang was very different from her previous boyfriends. Zhou Chengcheng regretted falling for superficial men in the past and said she now wanted to pursue someone talented like Wen Rang. At the law firm, the internship presentations were evaluated.

Both Cong Rong and Jingjing performed excellently, but Shangguan Yi specifically said he wanted to keep Cong Rong on, expressing his appreciation for her abilities. Cong Rong eagerly shared the news with Wen Shaoqing and, overwhelmed with excitement, kissed him—right in front of her mother, who couldn’t stop smiling. Wen Shaoqing suggested they take the stairs, and the two flirted as they walked. Cong Rong told him that kiss had been her first, which made Wen Shaoqing very happy.

Seeing how well they got along, Cong Rong’s mother decided to head back home. She told Wen Shaoqing to take good care of Cong Rong and handed him Cong Rong’s father’s legal notebook, asking him to pass it to Cong Rong and let her know that her passion for justice was something to be proud of. After reading the notebook, Cong Rong said she wanted to become a good lawyer.

With her successful entry into the law firm, Wen Shaoqing and Cong Rong officially became a couple. On her first day of work, Wen Shaoqing accompanied Cong Rong to the office door. He even helped her apply foot pads and gave her slippers to rest her feet since it was her first time wearing high heels. Cong Rong kissed him and asked him to have dinner together that evening to celebrate their first official date.

Seeing how adorable Cong Rong was, Shangguan Yi was a little moved and asked her to accompany him on a business trip to handle a trademark case. Cong Rong quickly called Wen Shaoqing to cancel dinner and told him not to be mad. Zhong Zhen saw the girlfriend note in Wen Shaoqing’s phone and assumed he had another woman. He scolded Wen Shaoqing for being unfaithful and betraying Cong Rong. Wen Shaoqing teased him and didn’t reveal the truth.

On the plane, Shangguan Yi’s stomach started acting up. Cong Rong had already noticed this earlier and had bought him stomach medicine before they left. Shangguan Yi was touched and asked her to handle the explanation work. After arriving at Hongqiao Airport, Cong Rong excitedly opened her phone and told Wen Shaoqing that she had landed.

Episode 14 Recap

After the trademark negotiation case, Shangguan Yi praised Cong Rong’s outstanding performance and invited her somewhere—unexpectedly, it was a pet shop. Cong Rong saw that Shangguan Yi liked cats, which was a stark contrast to his usual serious demeanor. Shangguan Yi said he liked it when cats clung to him because it made the day’s stress disappear. When he asked if Cong Rong liked cats, she instinctively replied that she liked dogs, immediately thinking of Let Let.

Back at the hotel, Cong Rong finished washing up, but still hadn’t received a message from Wen Shaoqing. She took the initiative to call and video him. Wen Shaoqing sounded cold on the phone and said he was exhausted from surgery and needed to rest, then hung up. Cong Rong was angry and called him a “pig trotter. ” Just then, there was a knock at the hotel door—she opened it to find Wen Shaoqing himself. He hugged her tightly.

Cong Rong was thrilled, and the two cuddled sweetly. Wen Shaoqing kissed her the moment he stepped in. They went out to eat at a food stall owned by someone with history with Wen Shaoqing. He told Cong Rong the owner had been the first patient he ever operated on and that he had saved the man from the brink of death.

Seeing Wen Shaoqing speak so seriously made Cong Rong feel he looked very handsome, and she snapped a photo of him. Wen Shaoqing said watching his patients recover always reminded him of his original aspiration as a doctor. Cong Rong shared a childhood story when they passed by a staircase. Wen Shaoqing asked her to close her eyes and trust him, then held her hand and guided her down the stairs step by step.

At a key moment, he suddenly embraced her and kissed her passionately on the stairs. Curious about how he stayed so slim, Cong Rong asked, and Wen Shaoqing shared his secret—joking that he turned down many temptations for her, since he was tall and handsome and pursued by many women. The two fell asleep in each other’s arms. When Cong Rong woke up, Wen Shaoqing had already taken the early flight.

He had drawn a comic of her sleeping, which made her laugh with joy. Zhong Zhen went to gossip with Xiao Xia, asking if there were any single male doctors available because he wanted to set up Cong Rong. Xiao Xia refused and was shocked to hear Cong Rong had turned Wen Shaoqing down. Zhong Zhen complained that he had hoped to stay in Wen Shaoqing’s good graces through Cong Rong.

Just then, Wen Shaoqing appeared behind him, and Zhong Zhen quickly ran away, realizing he’d said the wrong thing. Wen Shaoqing invited his hospital colleagues to his home for dinner, saying he would introduce a mystery guest. Shangguan Yi and Cong Rong had just landed, and Cong Rong couldn’t wait to see Wen Shaoqing. When he opened the door, she rushed into his arms. Wen Shaoqing tried to say something, but she didn’t give him a chance.

Then she noticed a bunch of people staring—it turned out the hospital colleagues were already there. Cong Rong was a little embarrassed. Zhong Zhen showed up late and in a bad mood. He complained to Cong Rong that he clashed with Wen Shaoqing’s girlfriend and missed Wen Shaoqing’s care. Wen Shaoqing dissected the chicken Zhong Zhen brought as a live demo. Zhong Zhen was distracted and awkward, so Wen Shaoqing made him pluck all the feathers to prepare soup.

Zhou Chengcheng helped Wen Rang organize books and find receipts. Wen Rang learned that his poetry book sales had increased thanks to Zhou Chengcheng. She had uploaded his lifestyle videos to Weishi and gained hundreds of thousands of followers. Suddenly, a book almost fell from the shelf, and Wen Rang rushed to shield her. Both of them blushed. Feeling embarrassed, Wen Rang said he was going out to buy lunch.

Zhou Chengcheng was excited and continued looking for receipts—only to discover a CD. Curiosity got the better of her, and she played the video, which turned out to be of Wen Rang and his ex-girlfriend Xiao Jiang. Wen Rang returned without his phone, unable to pay, and saw the scene. He didn’t get angry but said he wanted some time to himself.

Wen Shaoqing kissed Cong Rong in front of everyone, and while the others pretended not to see it, clueless Zhong Zhen finally realized Cong Rong was Wen Shaoqing’s girlfriend. Everyone raised their glasses to congratulate the couple. Meanwhile, Zhou Chengcheng secretly followed Wen Rang. When he noticed, they drank and chatted. Zhou Chengcheng praised Wen Rang for being interesting and talented, then hugged him—stirring Wen Rang’s heart.

Episode 15 Recap

Zhou Chengcheng hugged Wen Rang and said she was cold, catching him off guard. He took off his jacket and threw it to her to wear. Zhou Chengcheng put it on, then hugged him again, saying she was worried he would get cold. Cong Rong and Wen Shaoqing saw this on the bus and made a bet. Wen Shaoqing reminded Cong Rong that Wen Rang had always been emotionally reserved and unlikely to fall in love.

Cong Rong countered, believing that Zhou Chengcheng’s warmth would melt Wen Rang’s cold heart. Cong Rong compiled her weekly report, which earned recognition from everyone. Wen Shaoqing sent her a string of numbers meaning “I miss you. ” After work, Cong Rong went to the hospital, and they planned to have dinner together. But Chen Cu received an emergency surgery call and specifically requested Wen Shaoqing. Unexpectedly, Qin Chu was also in the operating room, making Chen Cu feel awkward.

Qin Chu said it was fine. After the surgery, she confessed to Wen Shaoqing that she had once liked him, but it was all in the past. She just hoped he wouldn’t feel burdened. Wen Shaoqing thanked her and said it was great that they could still be colleagues and friends. Wen Shaoqing went to the break room and found Cong Rong asleep.

He leaned in to look at her, and when she woke up startled, she thought he was going to kiss her—only for Wen Shaoqing to comment that her face looked swollen. He took her to the dental department, where the doctor said it was just inflamed wisdom teeth, nothing serious, and advised her to watch her diet.

Cong Rong was embarrassed and asked Wen Shaoqing to stop staring at her tooth extraction—everyone in the hospital already knew he was in love and had successfully left the singles' group ranking. Zhou Chengcheng brought a bunch of tools to the bookstore and also bought Wen Rang a shirt. He coldly transferred her the money, pitying her financial situation. Zhou Chengcheng, feeling wronged, apologized for watching the CD and hoped he wouldn’t be mad at her for it.

Wen Shaoqing took Cong Rong home and teased her on the sofa. Let Let watched them and got a dose of “dog food. ” Zhou Chengcheng ran into Zhong Zhen in the elevator. Zhong Zhen came to deliver medicine to Cong Rong, and Zhou Chengcheng was there to ask Wen Shaoqing for help. During their chat, Zhong Zhen realized he was the last to know about Cong Rong’s relationship and that Zhou Chengcheng had come because of Wen Rang.

He sighed that both of them were like wandering souls. When they got out of the elevator and were about to knock, they heard Cong Rong’s cries and Wen Shaoqing’s voice from inside, assuming the couple was having an intimate moment. Zhong Zhen confidently told Zhou Chengcheng, in his professional tone, that such things take a while and not to interrupt.

The two squatted at the door waiting—only to find out later that Cong Rong just had a toothache, and Wen Shaoqing was about to go buy her medicine when he saw them outside. Zhong Zhen quickly left the scene. Zhou Chengcheng asked Wen Shaoqing for Wen Rang’s home address and for some advice. Cong Rong’s work at the law firm was going well, and she was picking things up quickly—so much so that she almost forgot to eat.

Shangguan Yi personally guided her in the break room. A male colleague saw them and gossiped, thinking there might be something between them. Chen Cu carried several bags of rice, but Wen Shaoqing refused to give him a ride, so he had to order Zhong Zhen around. Wen Shaoqing picked up Cong Rong after her overtime shift, hoping to surprise her.

But she was having takeout with Shangguan Yi, who was so focused on work he picked up the wrong dish. Cong Rong snatched the file from his hand and told him to eat properly. When she left the firm, she just missed Wen Shaoqing. It wasn’t until he messaged her again that he learned she had already gone home in Shangguan Yi’s car.

Episode 16 Recap

Wen Shaoqing found out that Cong Rong had already returned home and that it was Shangguan Yi who had driven her back. He rushed home and told Cong Rong not to trouble her superior to drive her in the future. Cong Rong was feeling down, thinking she wasn't familiar enough with the work and was causing trouble for her colleagues. Wen Shaoqing took her for a walk by the river to cheer her up.

He comforted her emotionally and even teased her with "mouth-to-mouth resuscitation," then forcefully kissed her by the river. After returning home, Cong Rong reorganized the case evidence based on Shangguan Yi’s instructions. Shangguan, lying on his bed, recalled working with Cong Rong earlier that evening. It was the first time someone had snatched documents from him, and it stirred feelings in him. Zhou Chengcheng, following the address Wen Shaoqing had given her, arrived at Wen Rang’s house.

Seeing Wen’s mother tending flowers in the yard, she went in to introduce herself and brought many gifts. Wen’s mother found Zhou Chengcheng quite agreeable and remembered seeing her in the bookstore. Zhou Chengcheng was very eloquent. In order to win over Wen Rang, she first tried to win over his mother, saying she could help with anything. Wen’s mother suggested going grocery shopping.

At the market, Zhou Chengcheng was very good at picking vegetables and budgeting, which made a great impression on her. While organizing his book sales list, Wen Rang noticed that someone with the initials "wj" frequently bought books. He contacted the bookseller and received a letter. Upon opening it, he found an address and an invitation to meet on New Year's Eve on a rooftop. He guessed the letter might be from his ex-girlfriend.

Wen’s mother, seeing Zhou Chengcheng's interest in Wen Rang, warned her that Wen Rang was difficult to deal with and hoped she wouldn't mind too much. Zhou Chengcheng made her feelings obvious and asked Wen’s mother to help her win him over quickly. Wen’s mother immediately called Wen Shaoqing, asking him to support her and acknowledged that Zhou Chengcheng was a good girl.

Wen Shaoqing relayed everything to Wen Rang and, as a friend, advised him to be clear with Zhou Chengcheng—if he liked her, accept her; if not, be honest and don't waste her time. Following Wen’s mother's instructions, Zhou Chengcheng prepared many delicious dishes and brought them to the bookstore. However, Wen Rang remained cold and told her he no longer wanted to fall in love or consider any future relationships, and kicked her out of the bookstore.

Zhou Chengcheng was heartbroken. Cong Rong's foot was hurting, and Wen Shaoqing directly lifted her in a princess carry, making her feel incredibly happy. As they walked sweetly together, they spotted Zhou Chengcheng sitting downstairs with red, swollen eyes. Zhou Chengcheng said she had just experienced heartbreak and couldn’t even control her eating. Spurred on by Cong Rong and Wen Shaoqing's affection, she decided to confess to Wen Rang again.

She couldn't give up such a great guy and planned to throw a New Year’s Eve party to get closer to him. With no better ideas, she clung to Cong Rong. Seeing this, Wen Shaoqing quickly called Wen Rang, urging him to attend a New Year’s Eve gathering with him; otherwise, he’d have to go home and eat with their father. On New Year’s Eve, Wen Shaoqing drove Cong Rong to work.

She asked if he had ever had anyone by his side before. Wen Shaoqing teasingly said yes, but he was just trying to make her jealous. While driving, they were distracted and nearly hit a girl. She seemed upset, as if something bad had happened. Cong Rong gave her a business card, offering to help if needed, but the girl quickly left, saying she couldn’t afford legal fees.

Cong Rong told Wen Shaoqing she wanted to go cycling with him that night after work. Cong Rong rushed to finish her work so she could leave early and spend New Year’s Eve with Wen Shaoqing. Just then, she got a call from the girl asking to meet. Meanwhile, Wen Shaoqing borrowed Zhong Zhen’s new bike but didn’t know how to ride or brake and crashed it.

Although Zhong Zhen was upset, Wen Shaoqing immediately transferred him 3,000 yuan via WeChat, which made Zhong Zhen very happy. Cong Rong told Shangguan Yi about the girl’s case. The girl had fallen into a predatory loan trap. Shangguan said the firm wouldn’t take the case as it wasn’t worth the effort, so Cong Rong had to research similar online lending cases by herself.

Episode 17 Recap

Zhou Chengcheng prepared a full table of dishes but didn’t see any sign of Wen Rang, whose bookstore was still closed. Wen Shaoqing arrived early but didn’t see Cong Rong either. Zhou Chengcheng asked him to call Wen Rang because she feared he wouldn’t pick up if she called. Wen Shaoqing got through, and Wen Rang said he needed to think about it. Cong Rong called to say she had to work overtime and would be late.

Cong Rong was working on the student loan case for the girl, Xiao Zhang, when Shangguan Yi saw her. He reminded her that she wasn’t qualified to handle cases independently. Cong Rong explained that even if she wasn’t qualified, she wanted to help Xiao Zhang by finding similar cases to increase the chance of success. Suddenly, Shangguan had a stomach attack, and Cong Rong rushed him to the hospital.

Wen Shaoqing learned about it and immediately took a taxi to the hospital. Xiong Jingjing arrived at the hospital with a fruit basket and saw Cong Rong at the payment counter. She made a comment, then realized Shangguan Yi was the patient. She always saw Cong Rong as a rival and tried her best to impress Shangguan, but he found her too noisy.

Cong Rong took Jingjing out under the pretense of buying porridge and advised her to stay calm when liking someone, or she’d scare them off. Jingjing was skeptical about Cong Rong’s kindness. Cong Rong clarified that she already had someone she liked and saw Shangguan only as a respected mentor, not a romantic interest. She even said her boyfriend was on the way to the hospital. Jingjing realized Cong Rong had a point and quietly stayed by Shangguan’s side.

But Shangguan still had Cong Rong on his mind and kept the chocolate she gave him on him. Cong Rong waited outside the hospital for Wen Shaoqing, who was stuck in traffic. As the countdown to New Year began, fireworks lit up the sky. Wen Rang hesitated for too long, and by the time he went to the address in the letter, his ex-girlfriend Xiao Jiang was gone.

Zhou Chengcheng was upset—she had prepared a feast only to eat it alone. Wen Shaoqing suddenly appeared in front of Cong Rong, hugged her tightly, and took her to dinner. Cong Rong told him she was working on something important and would tell him once it succeeded. She apologized for not spending the evening with him. Wen Shaoqing accepted her apology and kissed her in public, saying that was her punishment.

Xiao Jiang came to Zhou Chengcheng’s barbecue shop, saying she wanted hot pot and didn’t mind eating her leftovers. Zhou Chengcheng thought she had found a kindred spirit, and they drank and ate hot pot together. When Wen Rang returned and opened the bookstore, Xiao Jiang left 200 yuan and walked away. Zhou Chengcheng chased after her with the money and overheard Xiao Jiang telling Wen Rang she wanted to win him back.

Wen Rang told her not to bother and acted indifferent, saying he never intended to meet her. Cong Rong met with Xiao Zhang and gave her lots of materials, saying she could take her to a lawyer who had won similar cases. Xiao Zhang suddenly lost hope, saying she couldn’t afford a lawyer and knew she wouldn’t win.

Just as Cong Rong was about to offer to help, Shangguan Yi appeared and subtly offered support, asking Xiao Zhang to clearly explain how she was scammed and to gather others who had been deceived. Wen’s parents went to his bookstore, but he wasn’t there, so they waited next door at Zhou Chengcheng’s shop. Wen Rang rode back and exchanged words with his father, who nearly hit him with his cane out of frustration.

Zhou Chengcheng quickly stepped in, claiming she was dating Wen Rang to reassure his father. Cong Rong, driven by a sense of justice for every client, convinced Shangguan to accept the loan case. Shangguan asked her to gather more information. At the bus stop, Wen Shaoqing waited for Cong Rong. It started to rain, and he rushed to a nearby store to buy an umbrella so she’d have cover when she got off the bus. They went grocery shopping together.

Wen Shaoqing wanted to cook for her, but she had to work late with Shangguan. He was a little jealous but still drove her to the law firm. As Cong Rong turned and saw Wen Shaoqing, she felt incredibly happy.

Episode 18 Recap

Wen Shaoqing caught a bit of a cold from the rain. Chen Cu called him for help at the hospital. Wen Shaoqing had just finished a surgery and wanted to rest, but Xiao Xia came and told him there was another operation. Chen Cu noticed something was off and suggested he rest, but back-to-back emergencies left Wen Shaoqing exhausted. Cong Rong, ready for work, saw Wen Shaoqing leaning weakly at the elevator.

She was worried and wanted to take him to the hospital. He said it was just low blood sugar and asked her to get the medicine from his pocket. Cong Rong was embarrassed and asked him to do it himself, but he said he had no strength. So she had to reach into his pocket, take out the pill, and feed it to him, then brought him back to rest.

Wen Shaoqing touched her forehead with his and hugged her, saying this was a more accurate way to measure temperature. Cong Rong still went to the bookstore to get a thermometer and found he had a high fever. She told him to rest and asked Wen Rang to help take care of him. Wen Shaoqing understood—it was Cong Rong’s first case. Zhou Chengcheng was waiting for Wen Rang at the barbecue shop.

When she saw him finally go out, she thought he was meeting Xiao Jiang and stopped him. Wen Rang told her he was just going to look after his nephew, Wen Shaoqing. Zhou Chengcheng was relieved but then received a large takeout order. When she delivered it, she was surprised it was from Xiao Jiang. Xiao Jiang asked her about Wen Rang and wanted her to invite him out.

Zhou Chengcheng didn’t want Wen Rang to get hurt again and claimed to be his girlfriend, but Xiao Jiang quickly exposed the lie. While taking care of Wen Shaoqing, Wen Rang was asked whom he would choose. He gave a vague answer, then got a call from Zhou Chengcheng claiming she had a car accident. He rushed to her location, running red lights in panic. When he arrived, Xiao Jiang stopped him—it was a trap.

She provoked him, saying he still cared about her, otherwise he wouldn’t be avoiding relationships. Zhou Chengcheng couldn’t take it anymore and apologized to Xiao Jiang, asking her not to hurt Wen Rang. She urged Wen Rang to be honest and stop giving false hope. Wen Rang, emotionally overwhelmed, shouted at Zhou Chengcheng and left her heartbroken. Wen Rang regretted his harsh words but couldn’t swallow his pride. He called Cong Rong, hoping she could comfort Zhou Chengcheng.

Cong Rong and Shangguan had been waiting at a restaurant for a client who didn’t show. Shangguan wanted to leave, thinking some victims avoid the spotlight. But Cong Rong insisted on waiting. Finally, the client and others arrived and recounted their experiences. Cong Rong took detailed notes. After the overtime shift, Xiong Jingjing called Cong Rong and begged her to buy porridge for Shangguan, or she’d start calling Wen Shaoqing nonstop.

Cong Rong agreed but stained her scarf in the process. Back home, Cong Rong remembered her promise and made chicken soup overnight, bringing it to Wen Shaoqing the next morning. But Wen Shaoqing was upset after receiving a gift box from Shangguan Yi—it contained a scarf. He refused to drink the soup, which upset Cong Rong. She asked if it was the scarf, the soup, or her time spent working with Shangguan that bothered him. Wen Shaoqing felt wronged—he cared too much about her and felt emotionally vulnerable because of it.

Episode 19 Recap

Cong Rong stormed out of Wen Shaoqing’s house in anger. Zhong Zhen kindly reminded Wen Shaoqing that the thesis competition had started, but Wen Shaoqing kicked him out and threw the scarf gift box from Shangguan at him. Cong Rong felt she had overestimated her place in his life and shouldn’t have taken time off to make soup for him. She immediately canceled her leave with Shangguan, who then invited her out to dinner.

During the meal, Wen Shaoqing kept calling Cong Rong, but out of spite, she refused to answer and even hung up directly. After dinner and finishing work, she noticed Wen Shaoqing still hadn’t sent her any messages, so she deliberately bought two meals, took a photo, and posted it on her Moments. Wen Shaoqing responded by posting a photo of him walking his dog.

Cong Rong just wanted Wen Shaoqing to coax her, so she posted another complaining post on Moments, but accidentally forgot to set privacy restrictions, and everyone saw it. Thankfully, Zhong Zhen called to remind her. Zhong Zhen hoped the two would make up quickly and encouraged Wen Shaoqing to find a way to appease Cong Rong. However, Wen Shaoqing had no experience and didn’t know how to comfort someone.

He asked Zhong Zhen to call Cong Rong and trick her into coming out for a birthday celebration. Cong Rong had a gut feeling that Wen Shaoqing was next to Zhong Zhen. Zhong Zhen glanced at Wen Shaoqing and immediately denied it. Cong Rong bought a birthday cake for Zhong Zhen, who foolishly said it was Wen Shaoqing’s favorite hazelnut flavor. Cong Rong pretended not to hear. While ordering food, Zhong Zhen chose sautéed liver slices, which Cong Rong liked.

Wen Shaoqing snatched the menu and directly ordered ten portions of sautéed liver slices, saying it was good for the eyes and looking directly at Cong Rong, he added it would help brighten her vision. Unwilling to back down, Cong Rong ordered ten spicy heart and lung dishes, saying heartless people needed nourishment. Zhong Zhen felt caught in the middle of their fight, while others nearby watched like bystanders, clueless about what was going on.

When Shangguan called, Cong Rong answered loudly and crisply in front of Wen Shaoqing, then left a card with Zhong Zhen to cover the meal. Later, Wen Shaoqing went to knock on Cong Rong’s door, but no one answered. He had to call Zhong Zhen to find out that Cong Rong had dragged Zhou Chengcheng to stay at a hotel for the night.

Wen Shaoqing called Zhou Chengcheng, intending to apologize to Cong Rong, but the words never came out, leaving Cong Rong excited for nothing. Though Cong Rong had been looking forward to the call, she pretended to be indifferent and impatiently listened. Zhou Chengcheng listened to Cong Rong’s story and concluded that both she and Wen Shaoqing were childish—love makes people irrational. She comforted Cong Rong, saying maybe Wen Shaoqing wasn’t being jealous on purpose.

After all, a man giving a woman a scarf implied he wanted to cling to her. Hearing Zhou Chengcheng’s analysis, Cong Rong felt it made sense and said she would find a time to explain everything to Shangguan and return the scarf. Xiong Jingjing saw that Cong Rong looked troubled and immediately knew she was still upset with Wen Shaoqing. Jingjing offered to give her advice.

Shangguan overheard their conversation, and Jingjing, afraid of leaving a bad impression, took the initiative to explain in his office, also revealing that Cong Rong already had a boyfriend—Wen Shaoqing. Shangguan was furious but suppressed his emotions, merely clenching his fists tightly. When Cong Rong returned home, she stood at the door trying to hear any sounds from Wen Shaoqing, only to run into Wen Rang returning with Letlet.

Wen Rang asked Cong Rong to help take care of Letlet and told her about Wen Shaoqing injuring himself during surgery. Cong Rong became nervous and showed concern, calling Zhong Zhen to ask about Wen Shaoqing’s condition. She was touched when she saw a drawing of her on Wen Shaoqing’s desk. Zhou Chengcheng was organizing an outdoor singles’ night party for a friend and unexpectedly ran into Wen Rang and saw Xiao Jiang.

Wen Rang’s classmates deliberately tried to match him with Xiao Jiang, having them sing and play music together. Zhou Chengcheng watched from the side, thinking of what Wen Rang had said before, feeling heartbroken and tearful. Wen Rang was distracted and kept watching Zhou Chengcheng, but Xiao Jiang called out to him in front of her, saying she wanted to get back together and even tried to kiss him in front of Zhou Chengcheng.

Wen Rang pushed Xiao Jiang away, but Zhou Chengcheng didn’t see it as it was blocked by the fireworks. When Wen Rang looked back at her, Zhou Chengcheng had already gotten herself drunk. He rushed over and held her in his arms.

Episode 20 Recap

Wen Rang took a taxi to send Zhou Chengcheng home. Drunk, she kissed him, and he didn’t resist. When Zhou Chengcheng woke up, she found herself lying on Cong Rong’s lap. Cong Rong asked why she drank so much, saying she had never seen her like this. Zhou Chengcheng’s eyes were red as she told Cong Rong she had dreamed of kissing Wen Rang, but Xiao Jiang came back and she realized there was no hope for them.

Zhou Chengcheng admired Cong Rong and Wen Shaoqing, saying not everyone could find someone who truly loved them. The more she talked, the sadder she got, and then fell asleep. What Zhou Chengcheng said touched Cong Rong. She immediately called Wen Shaoqing, but Zhong Zhen answered. Zhong Zhen told her Wen Shaoqing had developed complications from his wound and was now on a ventilator, in serious condition. Cong Rong panicked and rushed to the hospital, extremely worried.

When she arrived, Qin Chu and Zhong Zhen exaggerated Wen Shaoqing’s condition. Seeing Wen Shaoqing lying in bed, Cong Rong tightly held his hand and regretted being petty. Hearing her cry, Wen Shaoqing quickly sat up, revealing it was a trick. He explained he had no other choice since she wasn’t answering his calls. As he comforted her, he pulled her onto himself and kissed her.

After making up, Zhong Zhen returned the bank card from last time to Cong Rong. She asked if he had secretly used it, and Zhong Zhen readily admitted. Cong Rong then learned that Wen Shaoqing had fallen several times while biking with her on New Year's Eve just to accompany her. She was delighted and invited him out to ride again, loudly expressing her love as they laughed together. They agreed to have a meal together.

Cong Rong made the food and knocked on the door, but Wen Shaoqing didn’t answer. She opened the door herself and saw Wen Shaoqing had just showered, his hair still damp, and he was shirtless. He deliberately teased her, and as he grabbed clothes, hugged her from behind, asking if she wanted him. Cong Rong jumped in shock, thinking he was going to make a move. Wen Shaoqing said he never wanted them to stay mad overnight.

He hoped that whenever she got angry, she’d just barge in and ask him directly, so he could coax her and wouldn’t change the door code. They embraced again. Zhou Chengcheng accidentally made a noise, and seeing her forced smile, Cong Rong and Wen Shaoqing felt concerned. Cong Rong hoped Wen Rang would stop appearing in front of Zhou Chengcheng, and Wen Shaoqing promised to talk to him.

Wen Shaoqing and Chen Cu had several surgeries in a row, treating four critical patients. Chen Cu said he was exhausted. Zhong Zhen was terrified of the patient in bed 3 because their family was so aggressive, accusing them of scamming with unnecessary nutrition injections. Chen Cu knew the families were hard to deal with, but said the injections were essential to prevent postoperative infections.

Cong Rong returned the scarf gift box to Shangguan and handed him the preliminary documents for the online loan case. Shangguan felt regret—it was just a scarf, after all. Together, they met with the victim Xiao Zhang to prepare for the upcoming trial. Xiao Zhang was nervous, afraid they’d lose. Cong Rong encouraged her to trust Shangguan, who had a wealth of experience. Xiao Zhang hoped Cong Rong could attend the trial.

Though interns typically weren’t allowed, Shangguan still planned to let Cong Rong speak in court. She was thrilled. Shangguan developed feelings for Cong Rong, but her rejection left him unsure whether to persist or let go. Wen Shaoqing wanted to celebrate with Cong Rong. Zhong Zhen and the other interns joked about tagging along. On the way, they encountered the aggressive family of patient 3, who immediately started attacking, accusing Zhong Zhen and the others of being scammers.

Wen Shaoqing rushed over and saw Zhong Zhen bleeding from the head. He confronted the family, but the violence continued, eventually involving the police. Wen Shaoqing’s hand was also injured. Cong Rong hurried to the station and paid the fine to get them released. Wen Shaoqing valued Zhong Zhen greatly. He had once told Wen Shaoqing he chose medicine because Cong Rong’s grandmother passed away.

Wen Shaoqing shared that he studied medicine because his parents were abroad for research, and he was raised by his grandfather. Though his grandfather practiced traditional Chinese medicine, Wen Shaoqing had read many medical books since childhood and knew how tough the path was. If given a choice, he probably wouldn’t have pursued it.

Episode 21 Recap

After attending a friend’s wedding, Wen Rang was about to leave when Xiao Jiang stopped him, trying to use a book deal to get close to him, but he treated her coldly. Seeing couples on the street reminded him of the short video Zhou Chengcheng had once posted for him. He looked through the videos on his phone, recalling all their moments together. Before he realized it, he had walked to the building where she had hosted the party.

Going upstairs, he saw her playing cheerfully with kids and felt at ease, then quietly left. A small emotional trigger brought Zhou Chengcheng to tears as she remembered flying kites with Wen Rang. Due to his hand injury, Wen Shaoqing couldn’t drive, so Cong Rong took him to the hospital. As soon as they entered, a crowd of reporters swarmed the lobby trying to interview him.

Wen Shaoqing wanted to confront them, but Zhong Zhen stopped him, saying the director needed to speak with him. The director was furious and scolded him for fighting with a patient’s family, saying training a doctor isn’t easy. Wen Shaoqing asked the director not to punish Zhong Zhen and the interns, so the director suspended him for a month. The interns were heartbroken and promised to wait for his return.

Before leaving, Wen Shaoqing wrote down patient notes to remind them what to watch out for. At home, Wen Shaoqing cooked a feast for Cong Rong and pretended nothing had happened to avoid worrying her. Zhou Chengcheng settled the party bill and, while packing up, had a hallucination—she heard Wen Rang singing. To her, Wen Rang was like a distant star—visible but unreachable. She realized that even without Xiao Jiang, they had no future.

She decided to walk away and silently hoped he wouldn’t write such sad poetry anymore. Wen Rang had a change of heart and rushed to find her, but just missed her at the entrance. Zhou Chengcheng decided to return home. Her father pitied her, knowing she had suffered outside and told her some things just weren’t meant for her.

With time on his hands, Wen Shaoqing made three meals a day for Cong Rong, saying he wanted to take care of her well. They were sweet and clingy, and he even followed her to the bus stop, reluctant to say goodbye. Wen Rang couldn’t stop thinking about Zhou Chengcheng. Someone called to say Xiao Jiang had arranged a book event for The Pavilion in the Clouds and asked him to confirm the time.

Back at the bookstore, he took out a guitar, remembering the second anniversary with Xiao Jiang. She had worked hard to buy him the best guitar, which touched him deeply. But later, she left to pursue her own future. Wen Rang packed the guitar and returned it to her, saying there was no future between them. After getting things off his chest, he felt relieved—his heart had already chosen. Xiao Jiang cried in regret as he left.

Cong Rong kept watching the trial video, determined to perform well in the courtroom. Her colleagues praised her for maturing. Shangguan was pleased with her report, though some revisions were needed. When she leaned in to look more closely, he accidentally felt a spark again. He ate one of the chocolates she had given him and felt very satisfied. Zhou Chengcheng packed up the BBQ restaurant to transfer it, reminiscing about meeting Wen Rang.

She realized that even without Xiao Jiang, she and Wen Rang wouldn’t have worked out. Wen Rang bought a crystal fish to give to her but hesitated to speak when he saw her. Zhou Chengcheng returned The Pavilion in the Clouds to him and said her boyfriend was picking her up, then left in a car driven by her father.

Episode 22 Recap

Wen Shaoqing was suspended from work for a month and had to stay home. Every morning, he busied himself with housework, but something felt missing. He picked up the phone to call Wen Rang, hoping to chat, but Wen Rang wasn't in the mood and hung up on him. Wen Shaoqing then took out his handmade knives and tinkered around the house until nightfall.

Suddenly remembering Zhong Zhen and the others, he called Zhong Zhen to ask about medical knowledge, but Zhong Zhen was busy with surgery and had no time for him. Cong Rong returned home and got a call from Zhong Zhen, who asked her to pay more attention to Wen Shaoqing, saying he seemed a bit too idle and was acting strange. Cong Rong became worried and saw Wen Shaoqing resting on the sofa.

She said she wanted to take a trip with him. It was only when they were on the plane that Wen Shaoqing realized Cong Rong was taking him home with her. Cong Rong said her “Dad Jiang” wanted to meet him. Although he wasn’t her biological father, he had treated both her and her mother very well. She shared many unforgettable childhood memories.

Wen Shaoqing discovered that Cong Rong's home was on a school campus and learned that Dad Jiang was a philosophy professor, which explained why she grew up there. Along the way, Wen Shaoqing tried to get information from Cong Rong, who deliberately shared stories of her school life and many admirers. Wen Shaoqing wouldn’t be outdone and said he had similar experiences. The two teased each other and acted jealous.

When Cong Rong saw Dad Jiang digging in the lawn, he was pleased with Wen Shaoqing’s impressive appearance and said he would dig up the nu’er hong (a type of wine) he had buried when marrying Cong Rong's mother to serve Wen Shaoqing. Wen Shaoqing felt proud to be so well regarded as the future son-in-law. At Cong Rong’s house, Wen Shaoqing cooked himself, impressing Dad Jiang.

Seeing how outstanding Wen Shaoqing was, Dad Jiang said he felt at ease knowing someone like him would be protecting Cong Rong. Cong Rong’s mother handed Wen Shaoqing a pair of chopsticks to welcome him into the family. Dad Jiang kept pouring him wine, saying that a person’s drinking behavior reflects their character. Cong Rong tried to stop him, but her mother fully supported Dad Jiang.

After dinner, Dad Jiang talked candidly with Wen Shaoqing, telling him not to bully Cong Rong and that he had always seen her as his own daughter. Wen Shaoqing promised that being with Cong Rong made him very happy and that their relationship felt special. He vowed to always love her, hold her hand, and never let go, assuring Dad Jiang he would protect her well. After the chat, Dad Jiang went out for a walk.

Having had too much wine, Wen Shaoqing ended up drunk. Cong Rong took care of him and tried to get him into the guest room to sleep, but he insisted on going into her room instead. They fell onto the bed together. Cong Rong told him to go sleep in the guest room, saying it wouldn't look good if her parents saw.

Wen Shaoqing deliberately leaned over her and explained the medical theory behind drunkenness, claiming it was a test of a son-in-law’s drinking capacity and had to be done. Riding the wave of alcohol but staying clear-headed, he held Cong Rong and kissed her. She responded to his affection. Just then, Dad Jiang and Mom Jiang suddenly opened the door, startling them into sitting up. Wen Shaoqing whispered to Cong Rong to cooperate with him.

Mom Jiang, who had already sensed something, just smiled knowingly. Wen Shaoqing and Cong Rong were deeply in love, visiting scenic spots and enjoying good food together, which brought them even closer. Then Zhong Zhen called to inform him that the family of the patient in Bed No. 3 had sued both Wen Shaoqing and the hospital, demanding a huge settlement. Wen Shaoqing was summoned home by his grandfather. Wen’s father spoke with him via video call from overseas.

He didn’t scold him but advised him to stay mindful of his role, saying that from a doctor’s perspective, he hadn’t done anything wrong. Grandma Wen was very understanding and told Wen Shaoqing not to suppress himself. She gave him money for a trip and encouraged him to go out and relax with Cong Rong. While eating Grandma Wen’s porridge, Cong Rong said she wanted to represent Wen Shaoqing in the case.

The hospital leadership held a meeting and decided to have Wen Shaoqing return briefly, but there was no mention of reinstatement. Seeing Wen Shaoqing's back, Cong Rong hugged him and told him she would never let anything happen to him.

Episode 23 Recap

Cong Rong asked Shangguan Yi to take over the Yunjin medical dispute case, believing he had plenty of experience. But she also had personal reasons—this case concerned Wen Shaoqing’s future. Shangguan Yi wasn’t pleased and refused, saying he wasn’t good at handling intentional injury lawsuits. Xiong Jingjing comforted Cong Rong, who realized she’d been a bit impulsive.

Later, Shangguan Yi thought it over and called Cong Rong to his office, telling her to prepare well for the online loan case and agreeing to take Wen Shaoqing’s case. Wen Shaoqing received the court summons but acted indifferent. Director Yan told him not to worry—the hospital would handle it and was planning to hire a lawyer for him. Wen Shaoqing said Cong Rong was already by his side, but he still itched to get back to surgery.

Zhong Zhen and others brought breakfast for him, hoping he could return to the hospital soon. Cong Rong texted Wen Shaoqing to come to Daren Law Firm and sign the authorization contract. When Shangguan Yi met Wen Shaoqing, he asked about the fight, and Wen Shaoqing explained everything in detail. Shangguan Yi sent Cong Rong away and got straight to the point with Wen Shaoqing. As love rivals, they didn’t see eye to eye and were both competitive.

Shangguan Yi quickly clarified the facts and left the rest of the time to Wen Shaoqing and Cong Rong, though he wasn’t happy about it. Cong Rong gave Wen Shaoqing the contract to sign and reminded him to use his fingerprint. Wen Shaoqing wanted to save his first fingerprint for something more important, but before he could say it, Cong Rong blurted out that people don’t need fingerprints to get married.

Realizing she had spoken too quickly, her face turned red. Wen Shaoqing was worried—what if he could never be a doctor again? Cong Rong encouraged him. Just as Wen Shaoqing was about to kiss her, Wen Rang called. Zhou Chengcheng asked Cong Rong out. She wanted to start a new life and forget about Wen Rang, but Cong Rong could tell she didn’t mean it.

Wen Rang sought comfort from Wen Shaoqing, who laughed and said he was reaping what he sowed. Wen Rang felt awkward and left before dinner. Zhou Chengcheng drove Cong Rong home and ran into Wen Rang downstairs—his bike had broken. Zhou Chengcheng offered him a ride. Wen Rang wanted to express his feelings in the car, but Zhou Chengcheng didn’t give him a chance. She called him "Little Uncle Wen," which made Wen Rang uncomfortable.

She mentioned Xiao Jiang, and Wen Rang got upset and asked to get out. Back at the bookstore, Wen Rang was disturbed by the noisy renovation next door. The shop owner wanted to block off the door connecting their space. The two argued and fought. Zhou Chengcheng, drinking alone, got a call from the shop owner. When she arrived, she saw Wen Rang injured and felt heartache but still spoke harshly.

Wen Rang couldn’t bring himself to ask her to stay. He almost told her to break up with her "boyfriend," but swallowed his words halfway. Cong Rong took Shangguan Yi to meet the patient’s family, who demanded 600,000 yuan in compensation. She lost her temper hearing the amount. On their way out, the family accidentally knocked her down. She instinctively caught herself with her hand, and her face turned pale.

Qin Chu took her to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with a fracture and immediately called Wen Shaoqing. The hospital was too crowded, so Wen Shaoqing brought Cong Rong inside and said he would cast her arm himself. Cong Rong was worried since he wasn’t an orthopedic doctor, but he reassured her, saying he had learned how to do it. Zhong Zhen gathered colleagues to watch the demonstration.

Cong Rong felt embarrassed, saying both times she came to the hospital she became a spectacle—once for a tooth extraction and once for a cast. Zhong Zhen scolded Wen Shaoqing for letting her get hurt, saying a boyfriend should always protect his girlfriend. Wen Shaoqing was deeply touched, realizing she got hurt for his sake.

Episode 24 Recap

Zhong Zhen came to Wen Shaoqing’s house for a meal and to check on Cong Rong. Wen Shaoqing had cooked a lot, but Cong Rong had trouble using her injured hand. Wen Shaoqing wanted her to stay at his place, but Cong Rong said Zhong Zhen could take care of her. Wen Shaoqing insisted that she shouldn’t disrupt Zhong Zhen’s studies and told him to go back and revise. Zhong Zhen understood and immediately sided with Wen Shaoqing.

Cong Rong knew she had been betrayed but still wanted to return home, saying she could take care of herself. But Wen Shaoqing wouldn’t give her the chance and kept her there. With her arm in a cast, Cong Rong found everything difficult. After finally finishing her nighttime routine, she ran into Wen Shaoqing. He told her it was better she stayed at his place for easier care.

When he saw she couldn’t tie her robe belt, he offered to help. At first, she resisted, saying she was about to sleep, but Wen Shaoqing insisted. He carefully helped her and deliberately got close, tying a tight knot and saying she could come to him if she needed help taking it off. Embarrassed, Cong Rong hurried back to her room, while Wen Shaoqing laughed secretly.

Watching Cong Rong dry her hair one-handed, Wen Shaoqing flirted with her until she asked him to help. At night, he offered her the bedroom and slept on the couch, saying he’d hear her if she needed anything. As he read a book on judicial compensation, he heard a noise from her room. Rushing in, he found her in pain and unable to sleep. He prepared water and helped her take her medicine.

Seeing his focused look, Cong Rong thought of her father. Wen Shaoqing hugged her as they slept and asked whether to take legal action. Cong Rong thought it unnecessary, as the patient’s intent—whether deliberate or accidental—couldn’t be proven. Wen Shaoqing admitted he had been extremely anxious and heartbroken when he heard she was hurt. The next morning, Zhou Chengcheng called Cong Rong, and Wen Shaoqing answered.

Zhou Chengcheng came over, saw Cong Rong dressed up and ready for work, and helped her change her cast. She noticed markings on the cast made by Wen Shaoqing. Cong Rong saw them and couldn’t stop smiling. Wen Shaoqing was summoned to the hospital by Director Yan to consult on a complex case. On his way out, he met the patient’s family and invited them to a coffee shop.

He handed them Cong Rong’s fracture report and asked them to come at him directly but not to hurt Cong Rong because she meant a lot to him. Despite her fracture, Cong Rong insisted on working. Shangguan Yi, feeling sorry for her, told her to focus on the online loan case and handed Wen Shaoqing’s case over to Jingjing. Cong Rong worried and asked Jingjing to keep her updated on any progress.

Jingjing, excited to work with Shangguan Yi, readily agreed. Wen Rang, lost in thought over Zhou Chengcheng, stared blankly at his phone and even sent her a message by “accident. ” Seeing her social media post, he thought she was really getting married. He called Wen Shaoqing in a panic. Wen Shaoqing teased him—it turned out the “groom” was just a Korean celebrity. Wen Rang got flustered, acted crazy, and scared the renovation boss away from doing business there.

Zhou Chengcheng came at the boss’s request. Wen Rang seized the chance to confess, hugged her, and kissed her. They happily got back together. Zhou Chengcheng brought Cong Rong a set of sexy lingerie, which Wen Shaoqing saw. Embarrassed, Cong Rong quickly went home. Zhou Chengcheng was clearly excited, and Cong Rong suspected something good had happened. Zhou Chengcheng kept it secret, planning to tell her next time. Wen Shaoqing prepared a late-night snack for Cong Rong.

She said she wasn’t hungry, but her stomach betrayed her with a loud rumble, which Wen Shaoqing heard. Cong Rong discovered the passwords Wen Shaoqing used were all related to her, and she was so happy that she couldn’t help but kiss him.

Episode 25 Recap

The two were entangled on the sofa, with Wen Shaoqing pressing down on Cong Rong without restraint. Zhong Zhen banged on the door hard, disrupting their mood. Wen Shaoqing impatiently opened the door. Zhong Zhen said he was delivering nutritional supplements to Cong Rong and also wanted to ask Wen Shaoqing for some exam materials. Wen Shaoqing told him to find them in the room himself since he already knew the password.

Realizing he had interrupted something, Zhong Zhen quickly put the supplements down and left. Cong Rong told Wen Shaoqing that the term "wife" wasn’t legally protected. Wen Shaoqing replied that he would protect his wife himself. Jingjing called Cong Rong with good news: a car was parked outside the restaurant, and the dashcam might have captured Wen Shaoqing arguing with the patient’s family.

Cong Rong was delighted, but the car was from out of town, and Jingjing only managed to get the license plate. The next morning, Cong Rong went to the vehicle administration office with a letter of authorization and her lawyer's license to request the owner's information. After navigating some red tape, she finally obtained the owner's phone number and quickly contacted them, hoping to retrieve the footage.

However, the owner sounded unfriendly and suspected it was a scam, saying they wouldn’t help unless Cong Rong came to Shanghai in person. Cong Rong grew anxious. She needed the video evidence, but the online loan case was about to go to court, and she didn’t know what to do. So she turned to Jingjing. Jingjing offered a solution: if Cong Rong had to choose between Wen Shaoqing and the court case, she could handle the court appearance for her.

With the online loan case about to be heard, Shangguan Yi called a meeting, but Cong Rong didn’t show up. Jingjing had to explain the situation, saying she had already communicated with the client and would be handling the case because Cong Rong had something urgent. Shangguan Yi was furious, thinking it was nonsense, and immediately called Cong Rong.

As soon as she answered, he scolded her, calling her method foolish and pointing out that it was a rare opportunity for a junior lawyer to take the lead in court. Cong Rong apologized, saying she had followed the online loan case from the beginning and didn’t regret missing the court appearance. But Wen Shaoqing was someone she had to protect, even if it meant disappointing Shangguan Yi.

Shangguan Yi then went to Wen Shaoqing and blamed him for not protecting Cong Rong, causing her to miss a major milestone in her career. Wen Shaoqing rushed to the airport and told Cong Rong he would drop the lawsuit and accept compensation. Cong Rong didn’t understand, thinking Wen Shaoqing was trying to run away.

She reminded him the lawsuit was about earning respect for doctors and told him not to abandon his principles—she would stand up for justice even for a stranger. Before court, Jingjing was nervous—it was her first time litigating. Shangguan Yi offered her chocolate for comfort. Jingjing calmed herself and clearly presented the facts to the judge and everyone present, performing excellently and winning the case.

Wen Shaoqing watched from the sidelines and seemed to see Cong Rong arguing in court through Jingjing. Wen Shaoqing was the first to share the result with Cong Rong. She was thrilled and had also obtained the dashcam footage, which she showed to the patient's family while sincerely explaining her intentions. The family began to reconsider their stance. Cong Rong's hand fracture had healed, and Wen Shaoqing helped remove her cast.

Zhong Zhen wanted to auction off the cast with Wen Shaoqing's signature, saying there were too many fangirls at the hospital. Wen Shaoqing teased him for being silly. Later, he took Cong Rong shopping and bought her several business suits, looking forward to her next court appearance. He said he wanted to spoil her, and they cuddled in front of the law firm.

Shangguan Yi and Jingjing drove by and saw the scene—Jingjing sighed, saying she wanted a love like that too. Cong Rong wrote in her diary that although she missed the chance to appear in court, she didn’t regret it. Shangguan Yi told her some good news—the patient’s family had officially dropped the lawsuit. The hospital also informed Wen Shaoqing that he could return to work.

To celebrate, Cong Rong and Wen Shaoqing invited everyone to dinner, where they saw Wen Rang and Zhou Chengcheng together. Zhou Chengcheng insisted she hadn’t agreed to Wen Rang’s pursuit but was clearly happy. Zhong Zhen, sitting alone beside the four of them, got a double dose of dog food. Zhou Chengcheng was unsure of Wen Rang’s feelings, so he pretended to be a clueless straight man, teasing her to the point of no return.

Episode 26 Recap

Wen Shaoqing explained to Cong Rong that romantic relationships between men and women were like fighting monsters—if it’s too easy to win, it’s not interesting. He praised the strong and excellent genes of the Wen family, emphasizing their consistency from start to finish. During his suspension, he was deeply moved by how Cong Rong stood by him without hesitation. He expressed his desire to hold her hand and grow old together.

Lying in bed, Cong Rong savored Wen Shaoqing’s words and received a sweet goodnight text from him. He said he would take her to work the next day and suggested they meet in seven hours. Seeing it was only eleven o’clock, Cong Rong didn’t even change clothes before heading to knock on his door. Wen Shaoqing opened the door to find her in pink pajamas and jokingly threatened to sue her for harassment.

Embarrassed, Cong Rong said she had insomnia and came for his help. Wen Shaoqing gave her a massage and said he’d do it every day once they got married. Cong Rong woke up to find herself in Wen Shaoqing’s bed and rushed to sneak back to her room. But the moment she opened the door, she was shocked to see Zhong Zhen with a group of interns at the door celebrating. Extremely embarrassed, she quickly ran back to her room.

They were there to celebrate Wen Shaoqing’s reinstatement, and seeing her in pajamas at his place was utterly mortifying. Early in the morning, Wen Rang called Zhou Chengcheng to the bookstore and, following her list, brought roses and breakfast. Zhou Chengcheng was delighted, thinking he finally got the hint. Wen Rang, with his backpack ready, said he wanted to take her on a trip. Zhou Chengcheng was thrilled—until she found out it was a mountain hike.

Exhausted and out of breath, she sat down and questioned whether their personalities were too different—one energetic, the other calm. She still wasn’t sure if Wen Rang truly wanted to be with her. Wen Rang admitted their personalities were different but told her that in his eyes, she was one of a kind. Then he kissed her. After celebrating with her colleagues, Cong Rong was picked up by Wen Shaoqing, who could clearly tell she had been drinking.

She showed him a love letter written by Xiao Zhang, which made Wen Shaoqing feel a sense of crisis—someone else had written Cong Rong a love letter. Cong Rong said receiving one from someone you like would be incredibly romantic. Wen Shaoqing kept that in mind. She said she wanted to go see a movie and relive what couples do on dates. Suddenly, Wen Shaoqing received an emergency call.

Aftershocks continued in Dijing, and the road to the epicenter in Jinghe County was blocked by a landslide, with casualties rising. Director Yan of Yunjing Hospital said that as a key provincial hospital, they needed to send a medical team. Wen Shaoqing volunteered, saying he had just returned and, as a young person, should step up. Chen Cu and Zhong Zhen also volunteered.

While drying her hair, Cong Rong was watching the earthquake news on her phone when Zhong Zhen called and told her that Wen Shaoqing was going to the frontlines as team leader. She immediately went to his place to help him pack, then rushed to the hospital. Worried, she reminded him to stay safe and message her every day. Wen Shaoqing reassured her, and Cong Rong watched as the vehicle drove away.

Wen Rang was startled awake by the tremors and found Zhou Chengcheng missing from the hotel room. He rushed out and found her collecting dew, scaring her. Seeing her adorable expression, Wen Rang said he wanted to take her on a trip. Zhou Chengcheng made him sign on her phone to record it, afraid he’d back out later. Wen Rang couldn’t resist kissing her.

While they were being lovey-dovey, Cong Rong called Zhou Chengcheng and told her that Wen Shaoqing had gone to the earthquake zone to help. When Wen Shaoqing didn’t reply to her WeChat messages, and with the news and texts showing how severe the quake zone was, Cong Rong became increasingly anxious. She prepared her resume and applied to join the frontlines as a volunteer, but the center responded that due to unclear conditions, they had to wait for leadership’s arrangements.

Cong Rong followed the news daily. At the law firm, Lawyer Tang mentioned that the earthquake situation was extremely serious and that a medical team had been injured. Wen Shaoqing’s messages were brief, but each one brought her comfort. Then she received confirmation from the volunteer center that her application had been approved. She immediately asked Shangguan Yi for a week off. Shangguan Yi realized she was doing it for Wen Shaoqing and thought she was being reckless.

Cong Rong said she just wanted to be closer to him. Shangguan Yi approved the leave and hoped they would both return safely. Zhou Chengcheng kept worrying about the situation in the earthquake zone, concerned for Wen Shaoqing on Cong Rong’s behalf. Wen Rang comforted her, saying Wen Shaoqing was a good man and would be fine. Cong Rong called to tell Zhou Chengcheng she was going to the frontlines as a volunteer. Zhou Chengcheng prepared a whole bunch of protective gear for her and told her to take good care of herself. The two best friends hugged each other.

Episode 27 Recap

Cong Rong left a note for Zhou Chengcheng, then followed the volunteer convoy to the quake zone, telling her to remember to lock the door. On the bus, the volunteer instructor assigned tasks: the goal this time was to distribute relief supplies to disaster victims. After arriving, Cong Rong unloaded the supplies by herself and distributed water and food to the victims in an orderly manner.

That evening, she took out her phone and saw that Wen Shaoqing still hadn’t replied. She could only silently pray in her heart. Wen Shaoqing, Chen Cu, and others were performing surgery on the injured inside a tent they had set up. Aftershocks kept coming, and Zhong Zhen suggested they retreat for now, but Wen Shaoqing insisted that the patient was hemorrhaging and needed immediate stitching. After an exhausting night, the surgery was finally completed.

Wen Shaoqing stepped out of the tent for some fresh air. Cong Rong continued on to the next location with the volunteer bus and happened to miss Wen Shaoqing, who was resting with his head down, while she didn’t look out the window. After she got off the bus, another aftershock struck. Someone shouted for help, and without hesitation, Cong Rong ran over to a house that had partially collapsed.

She called out repeatedly, checking for anyone inside, and found a five-year-old boy pinned under a wardrobe. Just as she got up to find someone to help, she saw a familiar face—it was Wen Shaoqing. Without exchanging words, the two rushed to the wardrobe and pulled the boy out. As they were about to leave, a slab from the ceiling came crashing down. Cong Rong yelled, “Watch out! ” and shielded the boy with her own body.

Wen Shaoqing also covered the two of them with his body, and the slab struck his back. Cong Rong was frightened. After they got out of the building, Wen Shaoqing immediately went back to perform another surgery. Before leaving, he said he hoped to see Cong Rong when he came out. Due to a landslide, the road ahead was blocked, so Cong Rong’s bus had to wait in place, which gave her a chance to wait for Wen Shaoqing.

At night, Cong Rong waited under a tree as heavy snow began to fall. Wen Shaoqing appeared in front of her, and the two embraced warmly. He brought her into the car and handed her three love letters, reminding her of how she used to look forward to receiving them. When she saw that the letters appeared blank, Wen Shaoqing shone a flashlight over them, revealing messages written in fluorescent ink. Each one expressed his longing and heartfelt confession.

Moved to tears, Cong Rong cried. As the road cleared, her bus had to continue on. Wen Shaoqing reluctantly kissed her goodbye and watched her leave. After the earthquake relief effort ended, the first group of volunteers, including Wen Shaoqing, received provincial honors and stood on the podium to be welcomed. Zhong Zhen immediately found Cong Rong and gave her a commemorative desk calendar with Wen Shaoqing's award photo.

Wen Shaoqing couldn’t wait to kiss Cong Rong, but Wen Rang appeared with “Rang Yi Rang” and interrupted them. Wen Shaoqing had no choice but to go with Cong Rong back to her room—only to be surprised by Zhou Chengcheng arriving with a cake, creating an awkward moment. Zhou Chengcheng admired Cong Rong and Wen Shaoqing, thinking they had been tested through life and death.

Wen Rang teased Zhou Chengcheng, and the two decided to travel to all the places they had once written down. Wen Rang reminded Wen Shaoqing that their grandparents wanted him to bring Cong Rong to meet the family and not to forget Grandma Wen’s favorite blue orchid. Feeling shy, Cong Rong quickly video-called her mother to tell her she would be spending the New Year at Wen Shaoqing’s house. Her mother was fully supportive.

They bought the blue orchid that Grandma Wen liked and prepared a pile of gift boxes. Happily, they visited Wen Shaoqing’s home. Grandma Wen liked Cong Rong very much. She noticed Zhou Chengcheng had arrived early and was happily chatting with Grandpa Wen. Zhou Chengcheng cheerfully introduced Cong Rong to Grandpa Wen. When she called him “Uncle,” Cong Rong nearly made a slip, forgetting that Wen Rang and Wen Shaoqing are uncle and nephew.

Grandpa Wen said he usually didn’t interfere with the younger generation and gave Cong Rong a meeting gift to show his approval of their relationship. The gift was a valuable carving of a mythical beast called Bi’an, symbolizing justice—Cong Rong loved it. The whole family gathered joyfully to make dumplings together. That evening, Wen’s parents returned by plane. The whole family was very pleased with Cong Rong.

Wen’s parents said they planned to stay longer after the New Year and work at Yunjing Hospital with Wen Shaoqing. Wen Rang, gloating, remarked that now Wen Shaoqing would have parental supervision too, which made him feel more balanced. The family watched fireworks together, happily celebrating the New Year.

Episode 28 (Ending) Recap

On the morning of the Spring Festival, Cong Rong woke to find Wen Shaoqing gone, with a set of clothes hanging at the door. When she checked the pocket, she found her shirt—the one she had gotten oil on. Wen Shaoqing had cleaned it for her and embroidered an osmanthus flower over the stain, symbolizing a happy union and the hope for children. Cong Rong knew Wen Shaoqing could be cheeky, but she was too shy to say anything.

Zhou Chengcheng chased after Wen Rang, who had been teasing her. Wen Rang quickly mentioned a big red envelope and reminded her to say nice things. The Wen family had a tradition of giving New Year greetings to elders. Grandma and Grandpa Wen laughed happily and handed out big red envelopes to everyone. Feeling very blessed, Cong Rong asked Wen Shaoqing if there were any other traditional customs.

Wen Shaoqing took Cong Rong to the study, which was full of traditional herbs with funny names—many related to feces. Cong Rong was displeased. She noticed one herb called “Rou Cong Rong” that sounded like her name and was curious what it was. Wen Shaoqing replied it was a tonic for the kidneys, purposely teasing her. Wen Rang brought out the family genealogy and showed everyone, joking that Wen Shaoqing was a scoundrel.

Wen Shaoqing realized he had been caught—he had written Cong Rong’s name into the family registry. He quickly took her outside and announced in front of everyone that he wanted to marry her and have children. He even revealed two names already written in the book: Wen Qing and Wen Gu—names he had picked for their future kids. Grandma Wen was delighted, thinking things were progressing quickly. Cong Rong bowed her head in embarrassment.

Grandpa Wen added that it was a good thing—soon the Wen family would have four generations under one roof. Wen’s parents had already made the guest list and were actively planning the wedding. At the hospital, Wen Shaoqing’s colleagues congratulated him and Cong Rong on their upcoming wedding. Zhong Zhen was worried about his thesis but was reassured when he saw Wen Shaoqing’s positive feedback, realizing he was recognized as a doctor with both skill and integrity.

Zhong Zhen was so happy he gave Wen Shaoqing a wedding gift: Assessment of Human Injury Severity, implying he wished the couple a long and loving life filled with “loving battles. ” Everyone helped at Wen Shaoqing’s home to prepare for the wedding. Cong Rong didn’t have to do anything; Wen Shaoqing told her just to relax and wait to get married.

She saw the wedding invitation with the name “Sui Yi Couple” and remembered how the bride had cried at her own wedding. Wen Shaoqing teased her, and Cong Rong insisted she definitely wouldn’t cry. When he smelled something sweet in her mouth, he kissed her, trying to get the candy from her lips. On the wedding day, Wen Shaoqing’s groomsmen came to pick up the bride. Cong Rong, dressed in traditional wedding attire, got into the car with him.

They took photos around various locations and stopped under the banyan tree where they had first met to commemorate the moment. The wedding was packed with guests. Shangguan Yi saw how happy the couple was and sincerely wished them well—he was ready to let go. Ten minutes before the wedding began, the emcee arrived to explain the process and took Wen Shaoqing away. Cong Rong stayed behind the door alone, getting ready.

Zhou Chengcheng opened the door and told her that Wen Shaoqing had rushed off backstage and wasn’t answering his phone. Cong Rong saw Zhong Zhen and called him over to ask what happened. She learned that Wen Shaoqing might have gone to the hospital for an emergency. Cong Rong wasn’t angry at all. She stepped out from backstage alone. Everyone turned to look at her. Her mother looked anxious—Wen Shaoqing was not by her side.

Taking the mic, Cong Rong took a deep breath and thanked everyone for coming. She gave a heartfelt speech expressing her support for Wen Shaoqing’s work and her pride in him. She recalled how they nearly missed each other once and said that no matter what—even at their wedding—she was willing to wait for him because he had waited for her so long. She pledged to always be his support and to never break her word.

Wen Shaoqing heard everything from backstage. He had wanted to surprise Cong Rong but hadn’t expected to hear her most sincere thoughts. He had written her a song, turned it into a video, and played it at the wedding, showcasing their sweet moments together. Wen Shaoqing walked out, embraced and kissed her, saying the greatest happiness was that the person you’re waiting for is also waiting for you.

That night in their wedding chamber, Wen Shaoqing eagerly pressed Cong Rong onto the bed, and the two fulfilled their duties as husband and wife. When Cong Rong woke up and saw his back, she immediately changed her tone and called him “husband. ” Cong Rong became a professional lawyer and could take cases on her own. Jingjing still quietly stayed by Shangguan Yi’s side. He knew she liked him and invited her to dinner that evening.

Zhong Zhen became the new-generation doctor at the hospital, looking just as dashing as Wen Shaoqing did back then. Cong Rong got pregnant—with twins, a boy and a girl. Wen Shaoqing was so happy he lifted her up in joy. Wen Rang and Zhou Chengcheng had been traveling for the past two years. When they heard the news, Wen Rang knelt down and proposed, saying his future child could be an uncle right from birth. Zhou Chengcheng thought it was a great reason. Everyone was full of joy, basking in their own sweet times.
