Baihe was overjoyed that Lu Qingqing had returned safely, believing that Lu Qingqing and Nangong Yixin were a perfect match. She hoped they could be together after Lu Qingqing broke off her engagement with the Crown Prince. Lu Qingqing, however, was troubled by Nangong Yixin's words, questioning why Lu Hongzhu, with his powerful spiritual energy, would knowingly present a fake fusang fruit to the Empress, causing trouble.

Baihe also found it hard to believe Lu Hongzhu was a bad person but couldn't understand his actions. Lu Yunxi arrived, expressing her happiness that Lu Qingqing was safe. Lu Qingqing voiced her concerns about the fusang fruit, wondering who wanted to harm them. Lu Yunxi, flustered, dropped the teacup Baihe offered.

After Lu Yunxi left, Lu Qingqing remembered Lu Yunxi’s trembling hand and recalled that Lu Yunxi claimed to have searched for her in the Manghuang forest but hadn't found her. The Crown Prince pleaded with the Empress not to harm Lu Qingqing. The Empress questioned why he repeatedly defied her for an unknown girl. The Crown Prince declared his love for Lu Qingqing, saying she brought him joy and sorrow, and her happiness was more important than anything.

The Empress conceded, promising not to harm Lu Qingqing if he obtained the magic power stone. However, the Empress's true goal was to secure the magic power stone for her son's future throne, and Lu Qingqing's fate would depend on her own fortune. Lu Qingqing thanked the Crown Prince, explaining that she couldn't reciprocate his feelings. The Crown Prince remained silent, saddened. At Lord Jin's Mansion, Sikong Ying visited Nangong Yixin.

They deduced that Lu Hongzhu was certain Lu Qingqing possessed the magic power stone, which was formed from the essence of the first Spirit Girl and first Emperor of the Qiyuan continent. Lu Hongzhu intended to use the Crown Prince's royal blood to unseal it, using aphrodisiacs on Lu Qingqing and the Crown Prince. Nangong Yixin worried about Lu Hongzhu's potential methods and suggested Lu Qingqing return to Youhuang Hall for training.

Xiaowu reported that Lu Qingqing had gone to see the Crown Prince that morning, angering Nangong Yixin. He declared he wouldn't attend their afternoon appointment, but his jealousy led him to Muxin garden. At Muxin garden, Lu Qingqing teased Nangong Yixin for being jealous and kissed his cheek. He experienced a sharp chest pain, but dismissed it. He gifted her the mended porcelain fox, asking her to protect it.

Lu Hongzhu learned that Lu Qingqing was with Nangong Yixin and worried their plan might be exposed. He consulted the Empress, who revealed that twenty years ago, she had poisoned Nangong Yixin with "glacial poison," triggered by strong emotions and love, weakening his spiritual energy and eventually killing him. Lu Hongzhu proposed informing Lu Qingqing about Nangong Yixin's condition, hoping she would distance herself from him. Nangong Yixin and Lu Qingqing watched shooting stars.

He reminisced about their first meeting and "picked" a star for her, asking her to marry him. She agreed. He then experienced a severe chest pain during a kiss. He reassured her that it was not her fault but urged her to return to Youhuang Hall for her safety. Lu Qingqing returned home, where Lu Hongzhu waited. He scolded her for seeing Nangong Yixin and told her to stay away from him.

Lu Qingqing questioned his decision regarding the fusang fruit. Lu Hongzhu explained that admitting "oversight" would be a lesser crime than being exposed for "deceit." He then revealed that Nangong Yixin’s chest pain stemmed from an incurable illness worsened by her presence. He said that if she truly loved Nangong Yixin, she must leave him. Lu Qingqing tearfully decided to avoid Nangong Yixin, which brought a triumphant smile to Lu Hongzhu's face.

Lu Qingqing and Baihe searched ancient texts for a cure but found nothing. Lu Qingqing pretended to be ill and summoned the imperial physician, describing Nangong Yixin’s symptoms. She resisted a pulse reading, trying to convey symptoms through a drawing. The physician insisted on a pulse check and realized she was lying. Lu Qingqing confessed the symptoms belonged to a friend, explaining the worsening chest pain, chills, and weakening spiritual energy whenever she was near.

The physician advised her to stay away from him, confirming that his illness was extremely rare and incurable. The Crown Prince, hearing of Lu Qingqing's illness, rushed to her side. She revealed her friend's symptoms, and the Crown Prince, recognizing it as Nangong Yixin's condition, pledged to search for remedies in the royal library, even though the library was restricted to royalty, and promised to sneak her in.

The Crown Prince, suspecting poisoning, urged Nangong Yixin to stay away from Lu Qingqing. Nangong Yixin learned that Lu Qingqing knew of his condition. The Crown Prince cautioned Nangong Yixin that she would probably not see him, even if he went to her.
