My Dear GuardianĀ Episode 33 Recap
> My Dear GuardianĀ Recap
After meticulously working to secure crucial information, Liang Muze finally resolved the issue of the factory building documents that was vital for Xia Guang Yuan's rescue. He had painstakingly located incomplete blueprints from the vast archives of his unitās Corps of Engineers, who had constructed the factory during a peacekeeping mission years prior.
He then tracked down a veteran soldier who had been present during the original construction, and this individual helped Liang Muze accurately redraw the missing sections of the map. Military Attache Chen then took these plans to the Isaia police, personally submitting them to emphasize their importance and to expedite the rescue operation for Xia Guang Yuan.
He also assured Xia Chu that the embassy was closely monitoring the situation and would press for swift action to rescue her father and resolve the entire case, advising her to remain patient. That night, as T4 forces were attempting to transfer Xia Guang Yuan, the Isaia police intervened, storming the factory to carry out the rescue.
When T4 realized their plan was foiled, they tried to kill Xia Guang Yuan, but Tang Lin, Xia Guang Yuan's assistant, bravely stepped forward and took the bullet for him, sacrificing his life. Shortly after, Xia Chu received the news from Mahadi that her father had been saved. Overjoyed and grateful, she called Liang Muze, profusely thanking him for all he had done. She informed him that she would return home after attending to Tang Linās funeral arrangements.
She confirmed her father was safe and cooperating with the local police investigation, and she would be able to see him the following day. Liang Muze affectionately called her "Braised Egg" before hanging up. The next day, Mahadi personally escorted Xia Guang Yuan back to Xia Chu. Xia Guang Yuan thanked Mahadi, but Mahadi redirected the praise to Xia Chu, hinting that she had found a good son-in-law in Liang Muze, which Xia Chu shyly denied.
Later, Liang Muze submitted his relationship status report to Brigade Commander Dong Zhigang. Dong Zhigang acknowledged that he had come around to the idea, recognizing the difficulty of finding the right person despite the looming redeployment. However, he informed Liang Muze that the report could not be approved immediately. Xia Guang Yuan was still under investigation by the Institute of Chemistry regarding a data leak, which occurred because he had used his personal email to discuss work with his assistant.
The investigation had been initiated before Xia Guang Yuan even traveled to Isaia, and a final conclusion had not yet been reached. Liang Muze was clearly unsettled by this news. Observing Liang Muze's discomfort, Dong Zhigang, speaking not as a commander but as a brother and old soldier, granted him half a day of leave to visit Xia Chu at the hospital.
He also advised Liang Muze to submit his relationship report to the political department for pending approval, reminding him of a soldier's responsibility to prioritize national interests above all else. Liang Muze headed to the hospital, where he encountered Xia Guang Yuan, leading to an initially awkward meeting. Xia Guang Yuan, having just completed his medical check-up, announced he was going home to Dong'an. Liang Muze offered to see him off, but Xia Guang Yuan declined.
After walking a few steps, Xia Guang Yuan turned back to express his gratitude for Liang Muze's significant help in Isaia, which saved his life. However, he quickly added that this would not change his stance on Xia Chu's relationship with Liang Muze. Liang Muze firmly stated that his help was his duty, and it was separate from his personal feelings, reiterating his determination to be with Xia Chu regardless of Xia Guang Yuan's approval.
Just then, Xia Chu arrived, having finished with a patient, and realized her father had just left. She quickly chased after him, urging him not to always be so hard on Liang Muze. Xia Guang Yuan admitted to feeling uneasy around men in uniform, recalling a similar experience when he first met Xia Chu's maternal grandfather, who had strongly opposed his marriage to Xia Chuās mother because he wanted his daughter to marry a soldier.
Xia Guang Yuan recounted how her grandfather repeatedly tried to persuade his daughter to leave him. He reflected that no parent could truly win against their childās heart, a sentiment he now understood better from her grandfatherās perspective. He concluded that if her grandfather couldn't stop them, neither could he, implying his subtle acceptance. Xia Chu, realizing his unspoken approval, was overjoyed and expressed her love for him.
Watching Xia Chu, a heart surgeon from Hospital 109, shining like an angel while saving patients, Xia Guang Yuan proudly acknowledged that his daughter had grown up. Later, Liang Muze informed Xia Chu about the provisional delay in approving his relationship report due to her fatherās ongoing investigation. Xia Chu, displaying unwavering faith, expressed her willingness to wait, confident that her father would be cleared and their future together was secure, especially after overcoming the challenges in Isaia.
Liang Muze then declared his love for her, affirming that Xia Chu would be his girlfriend and that he wished to tell everyone. Meanwhile, Liang Shaoxue had recovered sufficiently for her mother to plan their return to the United States. However, Liang Shaoxue adamantly refused to leave, unable to abandon her feelings for Tian Yong. Her mother, frustrated, angrily insisted she leave, questioning if she had a death wish, given her recent accident.
Liang Muze intervened, reminding his aunt that Liang Shaoxueās injuries were still healing and that staying longer was advisable, assuring his aunt that he would look after her. Liang Shaoxueās mother expressed her lingering resentment towards Rao Feng, her ex-husband, for not being present when their daughter faced such a grave situation, lamenting that they both failed as parents, despite Liang Muze reminding her that Rao Feng was on a mission.
Liang Shaoxueās mother then questioned her daughter about Tian Yong, expressing strong disapproval upon learning he was a soldier and Liang Muze's lieutenant, deeming him unsuitable for her. Liang Shaoxue countered that it was her choice, describing how Tian Yong was unlike any other man. She recounted how he had shown genuine care and understanding, even when she bit his hand deeply, or when he worried about her loneliness if her parrot was lost.
She explained that he taught her that imperfections were acceptable and that she could live a wonderful life by being true to herself, a lesson she felt her parents had never taught her. She confessed that only Tian Yong could truly reassure her, contrasting him with past relationships where she felt exploited. She tearfully confronted her mother for avoiding the past and for constantly trying to arrange her life, making her feel trapped in the year of her accident.
She admitted hating her mother's pretense of happiness and boldly asked if she still loved Rao Feng. Liang Shaoxueās mother then spoke of her own painful past, revealing she married Rao Feng at 23, had Liang Shaoxue at 25, and divorced him at 40, taking Liang Shaoxue to the US. She deeply regretted that he chose his police duties over his family. Liang Shaoxue, in turn, blamed herself, believing their separation was due to her incident.
Seeing Liang Shaoxue's firm decision to stay for Tian Yong, Liang Muze instructed her to move into the military unit. There, she would be constantly monitored by dedicated personnel until the alert was lifted, as her public appearance could compromise Tian Yong's ongoing mission, given she was presumed dead after being thrown into the sea by him. Liang Shaoxue agreed, though she expressed frustration about the indefinite wait.
She spent her time in the unit copying and reciting "Three Hundred Tang Poems," using an hourglass Tian Yong had given her. Liang Muze later spoke with Brigade Commander Dong Zhigang about Tian Yong, hoping he could return to see Liang Shaoxue. However, the Brigade Commander revealed he had no knowledge of Tian Yong's whereabouts and emphasized the immediate priority of redeployment and upcoming joint military exercises, stating that a soldierās loyalty to their era takes precedence over personal choice.
The Brigade Commander also reflected on the challenges of military life, noting his wife's struggles with frequent relocations and their daughter Xiao Xiao's emotional distress about leaving her friends. Separately, after a successful surgery, Xia Chu received a package from Liang Muze containing a custom-made figure. She complimented it, but playfully added that it was "not as handsome as you," as she talked to Liang Muze on the phone.
Xia Chu later visited Zhang Yichi at the medical school to submit a thesis. She asked him if he had been in contact with Chen Mengzhen, mentioning that Chen Mengzhen had recently brought Xiao Jun for a medical check-up at their hospital and was planning to move to Beijing for her career. Zhang Yichi inquired about Xia Chu's return to the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, to which she admitted her hands felt a bit rusty from not performing stitches.
She then announced her intention to sign up for the military exercises, speculating that Liang Muze would likely participate as well. Before leaving, Xia Chu thanked Zhang Yichi again for his help in facilitating her return to the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, a gesture he humbly dismissed, asserting that she deserved the opportunity.
