My Dear GuardianĀ Episode 32 Recap
> My Dear GuardianĀ Recap
During her lunch break, Xia Chu received an anxious call from her mother, who was worried about Xia Guangyuan. He had traveled to Isaia to attend Tang Lin's wedding, but for two days, there had been no news from him, and both his and Tang Lin's phones were unreachable. Xia Chu, having been to Isaia before and knowing the signal could be poor, asked for her father's flight number and hotel details to try contacting him.
However, the hotel's number was disconnected, and there was no information about it online. Panicked, Xia Chu called the Chinese Embassy in Isaia and was informed by local police that her father, Xia Guangyuan, had been arrested on the 23rd for drug possession upon entering the country and was detained in a suburban police station. Xia Chu immediately decided to go to Isaia to bring him back safely.
Meanwhile, in Isaia, a lawyer met Xia Guangyuan, presenting him with bail papers to sign. The lawyer claimed a friend had sent him and that everything was arranged. Frightened and desperate, Xia Guangyuan signed the document. Once in a car, he questioned the lawyer about his travel companion and his missing phone, and pleaded to go home, but the lawyer remained silent. Xia Guangyuan soon realized they were not heading to the airport.
After drinking water offered by the lawyer, he felt drowsy. The lawyer told him to calm down and that everything would be clear when he awoke, just before Xia Guangyuan lost consciousness from the drugged water. Elsewhere, Liang Shaoxue regained consciousness in the hospital, with her mother by her side. As she awoke, she recalled Liang Muze sending her a song and telling her that no matter what, she must always come home.
Overcome with emotion, Liang Shaoxue began to cry, revealing that she realized Tian Yong was on a mission when she fell into the sea. She feared he was angry and was upset she might have inadvertently ruined his plans. Her mother was confused, and Liang Muze, also present, told her not to press for details.
Later, Liang Muze reviewed Zhuo Ran's confession, noting that while Zhuo Ran spoke at length, he revealed nothing concrete about Old Master's identity, suggesting he was either protecting Old Master or himself. Zhuo Ran, using a voice changer, called Mi Gu with a supposed news tip: Professor Xia Guangyuan had been kidnapped in Isaia, and T4 was claiming responsibility. When Xia Chu returned home, she found police questioning her mother about her father's trip.
Her mother insisted that her husband, deeply dedicated to his work, colleagues, and students, would never abandon them to join a foreign institution. Xia Chu affirmed her belief in her father and announced her plan to leave for Isaia the next afternoon after a quick trip to Ningjiang to pack. She persuaded her mother to stay home in case the university or police needed to contact them.
Before Xia Chu left, Mi Gu told her about the anonymous tip regarding her father's kidnapping and urged her to inform Liang Muze. Xia Chu refused, explaining that as a soldier, Liang Muze could not leave the country to help and she didn't want him to feel torn or guilty. She asked Mi Gu to keep her trip a secret, but a concerned Mi Gu informed Liang Muze anyway.
Meanwhile, Zhuo Ran instructed Long Yi to take Tian Yong to Isaia to meet Old Master, explaining that with Xia Guangyuan's arrival, they needed Tian Yong to help them penetrate the Chinese market. Zhuo Ran stressed the urgency, citing his mother's declining health. Rao Feng learned that Old Master had agreed to the meeting, but only on his own turf, likely seeking alternative distribution channels through Tian Yong to avoid being controlled by Zhuo Ran.
Before departing, Tian Yong asked Rao Feng if Long Yi was the man who had harmed Liang Shaoxue years ago, a fact Liang Shaoxue had recognized immediately. Rao Feng confirmed it. He then assigned Tian Yong two missions in Isaia: locate T4's headquarters and find a way to meet Old Master, obtain a clear photo to identify him, and gather any criminal evidence against him and T4. Tian Yong accepted, vowing to succeed.
Upon hearing the news, Liang Muze impulsively requested leave from Brigade Commander Dong Zhigang to go to Isaia, but was sternly denied due to his duties as an active military officer during an imminent redeployment. Despite his refusal, Dong Zhigang assisted by providing the contact information for Military AttachƩ Chen at the Isaia embassy. Unable to get leave, Liang Muze snuck out of the military base to see Xia Chu off at the airport.
He gave her the contact for his friend, Mahadi, a local police officer in Isaia who could provide assistance. Upon Xia Chu's arrival in Isaia, Mahadi met her and shared the investigation's initial findings. He showed her airport surveillance footage revealing her father's luggage had been tampered with, evidenced by a neatly torn sticker along the zipper.
Mahadi also explained that the student, Tang Lin, had suspiciously changed clothes and slipped away after witnessing Xia Guangyuan's arrest, leaving no official record of departure. Later, in a call, Xia Chu updated Liang Muze on the case's progress. The lawyer who bailed out her father had been identified as Francis. Through his financial records, police confirmed he was laundering money for the T4 organization, headquartered in Willick.
Mahadi had tailed Francis to a secluded factory, where he also spotted Tang Lin. Based on waste materials, the site was being used for drug manufacturing. They believed Xia Guangyuan was held there, as two meals of Chinese food were delivered daily to a small building on the premises. However, a rescue was on hold, as Isaia police lacked intel on the building's layout and feared a high-casualty raid.
Mi Gu was shocked to discover an article about Xia Guangyuan's kidnapping published on her public account, which quickly garnered over 100,000 views. Xia Chu grew worried the article would endanger her father. Mi Gu, who immediately deleted the post, assured Xia Chu she would never compromise her father's safety for clicks. Mi Gu then recalled giving Zhuo Ran administrator permissions to her account. Her suspicions grew, but Zhuo Ran's phone was unreachable.
She went to his office and discovered a hidden room. She correctly guessed the password, a combination of Zhuo Ran's birthday, February 19, 1991, and a significant date, December 25, 2009, which corresponded to a joint police-military operation where a drug dealer kidnapped the son of an accomplice. Inside the room, Mi Gu found a handgun and, upon inspection, was horrified to discover it was real. Startled, she fled the office.
