My Dear GuardianĀ Episode 26 Recap
> My Dear GuardianĀ Recap
Zhuo Ran and Mi Gu shared their innermost feelings, culminating in an embrace and kiss. Mi Gu then directly asked Zhuo Ran if he loved her, but Zhuo Ran responded evasively, stating he understood her restlessness and loneliness as he understood himself, and that love was not difficult for him, but he did not elaborate further. Zhang Yichi introduced Chen Mengzhen and her son, Luo Xiaojun, to his parents at dinner.
Zhang Yichi's parents appeared displeased, especially his mother, who was scornful of Chen Mengzhen's profession as a self-employed bookstore owner who also designed and sold clothes and stationery. She questioned Chen Mengzhenās university major in Dramatic Literature and her past as a screenwriter in an opera troupe. Chen Mengzhen explained her late husband, a military officer, had sacrificed eight years prior. Zhang Yichiās mother remarked that it must not have been easy.
Zhang Yichi defended Chen Mengzhen, praising her as talented and insightful about life. His mother, however, complained about the low earnings of doctors, sarcastically implying that Chen Mengzhen's self-employed business might even be more profitable than a doctor's. Zhang Yichi retorted, asking why his mother didn't change professions if hers was so bad, which she jokingly considered. He reiterated that there is neither lowliness nor nobleness in careers, as everyone can be a master in their own special field.
Sensing the tension, Luo Xiaojun asked Chen Mengzhen to take him to the washroom. While there, Luo Xiaojun confided that he felt Zhang Yichi's grandmother disliked him. Chen Mengzhen reassured him, explaining that the grandmother's comments were due to concern over his picky eating habits. She emphasized to Luo Xiaojun that he was the most important person to her and that she could lose everything but him.
Upon their return, Chen Mengzhen and Luo Xiaojun overheard Zhang Yichi arguing with his mother, who questioned his choice to be with a woman who had been married before and had a child, despite their efforts to introduce him to others with good backgrounds. Zhang Yichi firmly stated that he had chosen Chen Mengzhen because she was truly outstanding and that their connection was destiny.
His father then directly asked Zhang Yichi if he was truly prepared to take on the responsibilities of a stepfather to Luo Xiaojun, considering their lack of blood relation and the long-term commitment required. He further questioned if Zhang Yichi could treat both Luo Xiaojun and any future children of his own with fairness. Zhang Yichi remained silent, seemingly unsure. Chen Mengzhen, finding an excuse, announced that she and Luo Xiaojun needed to leave.
Zhang Yichi offered to escort them, but Chen Mengzhen declined, also returning the money he had spent on a gift for her. She advised him to seriously consider the questions his father had posed, noting that he also seemed to be hesitating, and asked him to think seriously about their relationship. Back home, Liang Muze, nursing a chin injury, asked Xia Chu to shave him, complaining that his stubble was prickly.
Xia Chu expertly shaved him, mentioning she had gained experience doing skin preparation for patients, including Zhuo Ran, during her general surgery rotation. As she shaved, Xia Chu thanked Liang Muze for carrying her back after she was injured, expressing regret for hitting him when she didn't realize he was hurt. Liang Muze confirmed it was painful. Xia Chu then informed him that Zhuo Ran had admitted to installing the tapping device.
Liang Muze revealed he had known all along, stating his understanding of Zhuo Ran surpassed her imagination and that he cared about people, not winning or losing. He then presented her with a handmade wool felt keychain, a creation of his own, which Xia Chu adored, promising to keep it safe. Liang Muze warned her that the person who attempted to kidnap her had been arrested, but she still needed to be careful, particularly by avoiding meeting Zhuo Ran alone.
Xia Chu agreed. Liang Muze also told her he had instructed his secretary to buy her new lingerie. Later, Xia Chu worked on setting up a public account, and Liang Muze, showing his trust, requested access and became a co-admin, stating he was completely unguarded with her. Meanwhile, at the police station, Rao Feng found Long Yi, who was being held in an interrogation room, eerily familiar.
When Long Yi's lawyer arrived demanding his immediate release, Rao Feng received news that the test results confirmed Long Yi was the wanted suspect Xiao Yang, who had undergone plastic surgery. Overcome with rage and grief, Rao Feng attempted to storm into the interrogation room, but his subordinates forcibly restrained him and locked the door to prevent him from confronting Xiao Yang. The director stepped in, dismissing everyone else, to speak with Rao Feng privately.
He explained that despite Xiao Yang's suspicious connectionsābeing the legal representative of a 3D Printing Company, the discovery of a broken 3D printed mask near a black maple forest, his attempt to kidnap Xia Chu, and his presence near the border where drug dealers meetāthe only current evidence was Zhuo Ran's testimony, whose credibility was uncertain, and no fingerprints were found on the mask.
Thus, these were only assumptions, not definitive evidence, and they needed Xiao Yang alive to catch the "real culprit." Rao Feng, in anguish, cried out that his family had been ruined since his daughter Liang Shaoxue was injured at thirteen. He described the daily nightmares, how he had given up alcohol because the sight of bottles reminded him of the ones that had pierced his daughter's body, and how his ex-wife had divorced him, regretting ever knowing him.
He expressed how his heart had died when Liang Shaoxue and her mother left, and his sole motivation for living was to bring the person who harmed his daughter to justice. He pleaded not to be asked to let Xiao Yang go, but the director, citing the expiration of Xiao Yang's detention period, ordered his release. Officer 052326 carried out the instruction.
Later, Liang Shaoxue was at the military base, wanting to observe Tian Yong's training, while being cold towards Rao Feng. She refused to tell him what happened in the tunnel and rejected his attempts to reach her by phone, suggesting that Liang Muze was a "traitor" for revealing her whereabouts to him, and thus Rao Feng was complicit. Rao Feng, concerned, advised her to avoid dangerous places and not reveal her presence there to others.
He also asked her to return to her mother after she had "had her fun," but Liang Shaoxue angrily refused, stating she wouldn't listen to him since he didn't acknowledge their relationship. Liang Muze later informed Rao Feng that Liang Shaoxue was at his home, located in Cambridge Bay, to pick up a package for Xia Chu. Rao Feng immediately went to intercept her.
He met Liang Shaoxue near the pickup point, where she was retrieving a package of fresh food. He tried to get his colleague, Li Lei, to help her, but Liang Shaoxue defiantly refused, frustrated that he always made decisions for her without considering her feelings. As the courier handed the package to Liang Shaoxue, Rao Feng noticed the courier taking out his phone.
Sensing immediate danger, Rao Feng instinctively snatched the package, threw it away from them, and shielded Liang Shaoxue with his body as it violently exploded. Following the explosion, Liang Shaoxue, protected by Rao Feng, sustained no serious injuries. However, Rao Feng was severely wounded and lost consciousness. The courier was also gravely injured. Liang Shaoxue, distraught, cried out, demanding that the courier be allowed to die, questioning why paramedics were saving a "murderer."
Medical personnel informed her that he was currently considered a witness. News reports quickly spread about the serious explosion at Cambridge Bay, prompting Liang Muze and Tian Yong to be dispatched to the hospital. Separately, Zhuo Ran met with Tang Lin, but Tang Lin had realized Zhuo Ran's true motive was not to build a factory in Dong'an, but to use him for commercial espionage, collecting project information for other companies.
Tang Lin refused to continue, despite Zhuo Ran confirming his salary had already been transferred. Shortly after, Zhuo Ran called Xia Guang Yuan, posing as if he was concerned. He mentioned seeing news of an explosion in Xia Chu's neighborhood and asked if she was alright and if she had contacted him.
When Xia Guang Yuan's assistant confirmed Xia Chu rented a place at Cambridge Bay, and that she was renting from Liang Muze, Zhuo Ran became visibly angry, demanding to know what else was being hidden from him.
