Just as Nan Xing is about to give up hope, she sees a figure in the distance—Xiao Wudi appears and takes down the assailants. As police sirens wail, Xiao Wudi looks at Nan Xing and immediately vanishes from the scene. Lu Zichen prepares a birthday gift for Ye Qing but unexpectedly sees her at a restaurant with her boyfriend, Song Jiaming. Lu Zichen looks disappointed as he watches Song Jiaming put a necklace on Ye Qing.

He leaves the restaurant in silence. At the police station, Nan Xing gives her statement but intentionally leaves out Xiao Wudi’s identity. The police promise to help her find the man who saved her. Nan Xing is both helpless and curious about how Xiao Wudi managed to appear again. When she returns home, she finds Xiao Wudi already inside. A bag of cash on the floor shocks her—she thinks Xiao Wudi robbed a bank.

It turns out he only sold his jade pendant. Xiao Wudi explains that since he has no legal identity in this era, he’s keeping a low profile to avoid police attention. Nan Xing thanks Xiao Wudi for saving her, and he says he showed up because he heard her inner call again. Nan Xing thinks Xiao Wudi is just using this as an excuse to do whatever he wants.

Xiao Wudi sees through her thoughts and warns her not to create more trouble for him. Nan Xing helps Xiao Wudi find a new place to live—right across from her home—and begs him not to appear randomly, especially in front of her mother. Xiao Wudi makes a condition: Nan Xing must get him a smartphone so he can study how to return to his own time. Nan Xing is surprised by his intelligence, realizing he has a photographic memory.

Xiao Wudi notices Nan Xing is afraid of fire and asks why. Nan Xing explains that she experienced a fire in middle school that left her traumatized—modern doctors can’t help her, so she just avoids open flames. Nan Xing video chats with her mom, who is happy for her. Xiao Wudi receives his new phone but finds the case too cutesy and rips it off in frustration.

As Nan Xing prepares for work, she remembers Xiao Wudi hasn’t had breakfast and barges into his room, only to be thrown out. At X Culture, Nan Xing meets her colleague Jiaojiao, who shows her around the office. Ye Qing has a private chat with Nan Xing, encouraging her to do well as the CEO’s assistant and saying she believes Nan Xing can do better than she did.

Nan Xing learns that although Lu Zichen is kind, he fires assistants who don’t meet his expectations. She starts to feel the pressure. While everyone else is busy, Nan Xing spends the whole day idle. A new colleague greets her but actually wants help moving books due to her strength. Oblivious, Nan Xing agrees and then tries to call Xiong Sisi to celebrate, but Sisi is unavailable. Nan Xing ends up dining alone, ordering a table full of food.

Watching a couple being sweet nearby, she thinks how nice it would be if someone could help wipe her mouth—unexpectedly summoning Xiao Wudi to the restaurant. Xiao Wudi is speechless—just because she wanted someone to wipe her mouth? He tries to leave, but for some reason, he can’t move. It’s as if someone is chanting a spell, binding him in place. Xiao Wudi is forced to walk over and wipe Nan Xing’s mouth before he can move freely again.

Xiao Wudi quickly leaves and takes a taxi home, thinking deeply about the rules of being summoned. Meanwhile, Nan Xing rides the bus, still thinking about Xiao Wudi, and unknowingly summons him again. With no choice, Xiao Wudi sits down to keep her company.
