Zuo Shuangtao was tied down to the operating table, and something was stuffed into her mouth to prevent her from speaking. At this moment, Mukimura Kensan arrived at the hospital and also searched the body of Xique. He found that Xique's wound had been cut open. Mukimura pressured Qiao Yufeng to reveal where the items were hidden. In his nervousness, Qiao Yufeng inadvertently revealed that he wasn't the only one searching for the formula. Initially, Qiao Yufeng had considered hiding Zuo Shuangtao, but she was eventually discovered by Mukimura. He deduced that she was an operative from the Military Statistics Bureau due to the combat knife she used. Zuo Shuangtao refused to confess, so Mukimura had a plan. He sent Qiao Yufeng to get a doctor's white coat and a surgical knife to intimidate Zuo Shuangtao, threatening to dissect her while she was alive.

One hour earlier, Chen Jiaping woke up, realizing that Zuo Shuangtao had drugged him. It was highly likely that she had an important mission tonight, possibly going to Cian Hospital to find that doctor. Chen Jiaping rushed to the hospital, and he unexpectedly saw Er Badao mumbling to himself at the hospital gate. He then stealthily entered the hospital, eavesdropping on the conversation between Qiao Yufeng and Mukimura, realizing that Zuo Shuangtao had been captured and Mukimura intended to dissect her alive. When Qiao Yufeng went to fetch a white coat and a surgical knife for Mukimura Kensan, Chen Jiaping killed him. Wearing a mask, he entered the office and caught Mukimura by surprise. In the end, Mukimura was killed, and Chen Jiaping successfully rescued Zuo Shuangtao. Just as they were about to leave, Er Badao arrived. Chen Jiaping thought of an excellent way to shift the blame onto him.

Er Badao couldn't believe what he was seeing and tried to convince himself that it was all an illusion, but the three bodies were right there, impossible to ignore. Chen Jiaping pretended to reluctantly offer his help and suggested that they tamper with the crime scene. Er Badao, fearing being seen by others, hid, only to discover the lifeless body of Qiao Yufeng in his hiding place, causing him to faint. When Er Badao regained consciousness, he self-hypnotized that everything was just a hallucination, but the three corpses were still there, impossible to ignore. Chen Jiaping, seemingly reluctant, offered to help Er Badao, who was then manipulated into tampering with the crime scene. Chen Jiaping used the surgical knife with Er Badao's fingerprints to ensure that Er Badao would cooperate in the future. After everything was done, Chen Jiaping had Er Badao continue to fake the crime scene while he took Zuo Shuangtao home. Back at home, Chen Jiaping asked Zuo Shuangtao to reveal her identity and mission, and she did so without holding back. Although she had some suspicions about Chen Jiaping's identity, he didn't reveal his true self.

Through this conversation, Chen Jiaping realized that Zuo Shuangtao didn't support the Military Statistics Bureau's approach to disrupting the cooperation between the Nationalists and the Communists in their fight against the Japanese. Her risky operation tonight was an attempt to intercept the formula in advance, preventing it from falling into the hands of the Military Statistics Bureau. However, she might have been too late, and Xique might have already made a deal with the Military Statistics Bureau, resulting in the formula being taken. The next day, Zuo Shuangtao went to the Rose Flower Shop to meet Liu Wuchang. In response to Liu Wuchang's questions, Zuo Shuangtao explained that her unauthorized actions were due to her reluctance to give up easily.
