The person hidden in Han Lu's house turned out to be Jiang Zhaoguo. He and Ding Qiuyang had a struggle, forcing Han Lu to take a knife and kill Ding Qiuyang. After intense ideological struggle, Han Lu ultimately stabbed Ding Qiuyang to death. Under Jiang Zhaoguo's orders, Han Lu followed him to deal with the body. Jiang Zhaoguo explained that the woman was General Liu's daughter, and he didn't love her at all. Han Lu didn't understand politics and didn't realize that Jiang Zhaoguo would use any available means for his work. Jiang Zhaoguo knew that Ding Qiuyang was connected to Shan Xia Wufu, which raised Han Lu's suspicions. After questioning, she learned that Jiang Zhaoguo left Shanghai with the documents for security and made a deal with Shan Xia Wufu. The condition of that deal was that she couldn't leave Shanghai.

Chen Jiaping intentionally brought up Lao Lu in front of Zuo Shuangtao. After he went to sleep, Zuo Shuangtao looked at Lao Lu's records and couldn't help but tears up. When Han Lu learned the truth, she broke down, and to appease her, Jiang Zhaoguo ignored Ding Qiuyang. Later, they discovered that the body had disappeared, leading Jiang Zhaoguo to suspect that Ding Qiuyang might still be alive. He came to Shanghai to negotiate with Xique (Shi Yang) on behalf of the Military Intelligence Service, and the Japanese also wanted the intelligence held by Xique, so they couldn't let the Japanese know he was in Shanghai. Back at Tai'an Trading Company, Zhao An regrouped and instructed Chen Shugan to recruit more people and gather resources to start a counterattack against Luo Guanqun. Earlier, he had published the Chinese Communist Party's contact signal in the "New Shenzhen Report" to lure more communists, but he noticed that Chen Jiaping seemed to be paying close attention to this newspaper. So, he had someone bring Qian Xiucai to inquire about the situation. He speculated that Chen Jiaping urgently wanted to read the "New Shenzhen Report" to establish contact with his new superior, replacing Lao Lu. Although Zhao An didn't know which specific message was the contact signal, there was someone who did, and that was the Communist Party's traitor, Huang Jinming.

Through Huang Jinming, Zhao An learned the exact content of the contact signal published in the newspaper and immediately arranged for surveillance at the rendezvous point. Zuo Shuangtao was following leads to find Shi Yang when Liu Wuchang stopped her because Shi Yang had already found the Military Intelligence Service, and both parties were about to begin negotiations. Who was the real traitor? Zhao An was monitoring the fifth bench in the park and noticed someone with a similar build to Chen Jiaping arriving at Zhoushan Park and sitting on the fifth bench.

The contact person didn't show up, so Zhao An decided to catch Chen Jiaping red-handed. But when the person turned around, he realized that it wasn't Chen Jiaping but Liu Cheng from the French Concession Police. Before Zhao An could ask, Chief Clémenceau appeared with a dog, and Liu Cheng explained that he and the chief had arranged to exchange the dog here today. Zhao An quickly claimed it was all a misunderstanding and then went to the hotel with Chen Shugan to find Huang Jinming, only to learn that Huang Jinming had gone out. Chen Jiaping tracked Zhao An to the hotel and confirmed that Huang Jinming was in room 612 at the Pujiang Hotel. He overheard a phone conversation indicating that Huang Jinming was about to meet Mukimura Kensan.

Without time to report to his superiors, Chen Jiaping decided to eliminate the traitor Huang Jinming immediately. However, he didn't expect that the alert Huang Jinming had detected something unusual with the phone and was already prepared for Chen Jiaping's arrival.
