Miss The Dragon Episode 8 Recap
> Miss The Dragon Recap
In the Luofeng Pavilion, Xue Qianxun informed a visiting Ziyang that the Zisui Yangyan had been destroyed by Yuchi Longyan. Seeking answers about his own past, Xue Qianxun questioned Ziyang about events from two thousand years ago. His memory was limited to being the Lonely Star, who, as punishment, had a rib removed to forge the Fleeting Pipa and was then tasked with guarding the Luofeng Pavilion for three millennia.
Ziyang was surprised by the brevity of Xue Qianxun's memories, suspecting he might have consumed the Eight Tears Drink, and suggested he consult the Immortal of Fate to learn more. When Xue Qianxun also mentioned often seeing a green figure, Ziyang playfully suggested he was simply lovesick. At the Xiahou Mansion, Xiahou Xue tried to persuade her maid, Liu Ying, to marry her cousin, Xu Zhiyuan. Liu Ying initially refused, feeling unworthy due to her status.
Xiahou Xue reassured her, explaining that her father intended to adopt Liu Ying as a foster daughter, allowing her to marry Xu Zhiyuan as the family's second miss and legal wife. Liu Ying tearfully expressed her desire to remain with Xiahou Xue, but Longyan appeared, insisting the marriage would make everyone happy. He promised a lavish wedding and assigned a girl named Qing Qing as her dowry maid.
Secretly, Longyan knew the Xiahou family faced a catastrophic fate and saw this marriage as the only way for Liu Ying to escape the tragedy and live a long life. Liu Ying later confronted Longyan, who confirmed he wanted her to marry Xu Zhiyuan for her own good. She refused, declaring her heart already belonged to someone else and that she would cherish her memories alone. Longyan countered that he only wanted a carefree life for her.
He then used the appearance of the Star Halo in the sky to perform a final act, erasing Liu Ying's memories of their love. He implanted the belief that all her happy recollections were experiences she had shared with Xu Zhiyuan.
To ensure her well-being, Longyan later secretly approached Xu Zhiyuan and instructed him on Liu Ying's specific preferences, such as her love for certain chestnuts, her fascination with fallen petals, and her inability to sleep without her own quilt and pillow. On the wedding day, Longyan’s spiritual form stayed by Liu Ying's side, watching her marry another.
As a silent offering, he conjured a shower of red petals, lamenting that the pain of losing her felt worse than a heavenly thunder tribulation. As Liu Ying was about to leave the mansion, the Star Halo appeared again, triggering a faint memory of a promise involving a love token. To stop her from remembering, Longyan instantly froze time.
He appeared before her, wiped away her tears, and kissed her forehead as a tear of his own fell, reinforcing the mental block to ensure their past remained buried. Later, Longyan stood in Liu Ying's empty room, lost in thought. Qing Qing entered to retrieve Liu Ying's old quilt and pillow, explaining that Liu Ying couldn't sleep in her new bridal chamber without them.
Longyan asked about a painting he had given Liu Ying as a love token, but Qing Qing, unaware of its significance, hadn't seen it. Heartbroken, Longyan thought to himself that it was fitting for the painting to be lost, as he had lost Liu Ying herself. Meanwhile, Liu Ying felt a persistent unease despite her implanted memories of being in love with Xu Zhiyuan.
She found details to be inconsistent, questioning Qing Qing why her husband now claimed to like durian when she recalled that neither of them did. Longyan, invisibly present, expressed his own pained confusion to Qing Qing, wondering how Liu Ying could have fallen for someone else so quickly. Qing Qing bluntly reminded him that he was the one who had altered Liu Ying's memories, making Xu Zhiyuan the hero of her love story.
Longyan admitted he had only intended it as a necessary measure but never anticipated she would genuinely fall in love with his replacement. Qing Qing retorted that the entire situation was of his own making.
