Luo Tianran, in a daze after her shower, was puzzled about the faucet she thought she had turned off. She returned to her room to compose, but later that night, decided to get a snack. As she went downstairs, she hummed a song. Jin Zeyi, who was sleeping upstairs, heard the singing and thought his house was haunted. He cautiously descended to investigate.
Meanwhile, Luo Tianran, hearing some strange noises, grabbed a toy dog for protection and also headed to the living room. Jin Zeyi, convinced of a ghostly presence, hid in a tent and attempted to call Tiffany, his agent, asking if the house she found for him was haunted, mentioning the singing and missing food. Unable to reach her, he sent a WeChat message.
In the dim light, Luo Tianran located Jin Zeyi and, mistaking him for a burglar, began hitting him with the toy dog. Jin Zeyi quickly turned on the lights, revealing their identities. They immediately began arguing over who owned the house. Jin Zeyi, with a touch of narcissism, insisted Luo Tianran was a stalker fan who had orchestrated their encounters to get his attention. Luo Tianran challenged him to prove it was his house, but he had no evidence.
She, in turn, showed him a photo of herself with her father and pointed to the names "Luo Tianran's Home" carved on the wall. She explained that she was writing a song for her father on the wall, but he had passed away before she could finish it. A flicker of sympathy crossed Jin Zeyi's face. Seizing the moment, Luo Tianran cunningly suggested he go outside to see the unfinished song.
As soon as he stepped out, she locked him out. Despite his pleas to open the door, she refused. To make matters worse, a heavy rain began, leaving Jin Zeyi shivering outside. The next morning, Luo Tianran discovered a suitcase full of men's clothes in her home, reminding her of the previous night's intruder. She then found Jin Zeyi shivering in the doghouse on the front lawn, clearly unwell.
Realizing the celebrity was suffering, she took a photo of him, then offered to take him to the hospital. Jin Zeyi refused, fearing paparazzi, so Luo Tianran brought him inside instead and kindly made him some rice gruel. She then told him to leave once he felt better, prompting Jin Zeyi to again claim the house was his. Just then, the doorbell rang. It was Tiffany, Jin Zeyi's agent, who arrived with a dog named Erlang Shen.
Tiffany immediately inquired about Jin Zeyi's health, noticing Luo Tianran's presence with a hint of disapproval. Assuming Tiffany was Jin Zeyi's girlfriend, Luo Tianran watched as Tiffany formally introduced herself as Jin Zeyi's agent. Tiffany then took Luo Tianran outside to discuss the house situation, where she showed her the property ownership certificate and the house purchase contract. To Luo Tianran's shock, the contract listed Jin Xiaoqin as the vendor and Jin Zeyi as the vendee.
Luo Tianran, who had lived there since childhood, couldn't believe her friend Jin Xiaoqin would sell her house. Tiffany, however, asserted that all the documents were legitimate and that Luo Tianran had signed a power of attorney, which Jin Xiaoqin used to legally sell the house to Jin Zeyi.
Jin Zeyi, feeling the house had a "complicated" background, questioned Tiffany's choice, but she defended it by reminding him of his stringent requirements for a secluded, modern house with large French windows. Tiffany then gave Jin Zeyi medicine and advised him to rest. Luo Tianran, now understanding the situation, left the house. Unable to reach Jin Xiaoqin by phone, Luo Tianran called their mutual friend, Lin Che, who was operating his mobile cafe.
Luo Tianran asked Lin Che to bring Jin Xiaoqin to the boxing gym. At the gym, upon seeing Luo Tianran, Jin Xiaoqin tried to flee but was stopped. Luo Tianran angrily confronted her, blaming her for making her homeless. Jin Xiaoqin weakly defended herself, claiming Luo Tianran had signed the Power of Attorney for Mortgage Authorization while drunk. A flashback revealed that Jin Xiaoqin had indeed gotten Luo Tianran drunk during a dinner, then convinced her to sign the document.
Jin Xiaoqin explained that her younger brother had incurred massive stock market debts. Luo Tianran was furious that Jin Xiaoqin had also used the remaining money to buy expensive clothes and bags for her job as a purchasing agent, and began punching her with boxing gloves.
Devastated because the house was her childhood home, filled with precious memories of her father, and her only refuge, Luo Tianran suddenly remembered a box of cassettes her father had left for her, still inside. Now homeless and desperate, Luo Tianran returned to her house. She demanded Jin Zeyi open the door so she could retrieve her father's legacy—a box of cassettes from the greenhouse.
Jin Zeyi, suspecting it was an excuse to stay, told her to look in the garbage. However, when Luo Tianran actually started searching through the bins, he softened and allowed her to come upstairs to look, instructing her to take off her shoes. After she retrieved her cassettes, Luo Tianran saw Jin Zeyi using her usual mug and told him to use another.
She then noticed his renovation plans and vehemently forbade him from redecorating, explaining that her father had designed the house to commemorate her mother and that it was now her only connection to her deceased father. Jin Zeyi argued it was unfair, stating that everything in the house now belonged to him. Luo Tianran offered to pay him back for the house using the copyrights from her future musical compositions.
Jin Zeyi ignored her, pushing her and her belongings out the door. He told her not to come back, calling her ungrateful. Luo Tianran, frustrated, commented on Jin Zeyi's lack of chivalry. Later, Luo Tianran waited for Jin Zeyi to leave the house, then secretly used a spare key she found in the greenhouse to re-enter. When Jin Zeyi returned that night, he found Luo Tianran asleep on the living room sofa.
He immediately woke her, ordering her to pack her belongings and leave. Luo Tianran reluctantly began to pack but then had a sudden idea. She sat next to Jin Zeyi and declared that she would not be leaving. She revealed that she had taken a photo of him in his dishevelled state in the doghouse. Panicked at the thought of such an image damaging his reputation, Jin Zeyi lunged for her phone.
They struggled on the sofa, one trying to grab the phone, the other trying to evade, completely unaware that their every move was being captured by paparazzi hiding outside, peering through the large French windows.
