Adorned in a white gown with a meticulously styled hairdo and makeup, Wu Shiyi's transformed appearance stunned Hou Jue, who admired her from head to toe. Amy, who had helped with the makeover, informed Wu Shiyi that Hou Jue had personally selected her entire outfit, from the shoes to the accessories.

She also presented Wu Shiyi with a complete set of Dior nectar series skin care products, explaining that Hou Jue was too shy to give them to her himself and had asked Amy to deliver them. Wu Shiyi felt a little self-conscious in the unaccustomed attire but admitted she loved the look. Zhu Dapeng arrived at the wedding with Li Xuemei. He had tried to hide the invitation, but Li Xuemei found it and insisted they attend.

Wu Shiyi's close friends and classmates openly disdained the couple. However, they warmly welcomed Wu Shiyi, showering her with compliments on her elegant appearance. Zhu Dapeng couldn't help but notice Wu Shiyi as well, making him feel even more uneasy. Before the ceremony, Wu Shiyi sternly reminded Hou Jue that it was her best friend's wedding and he was absolutely not to cause any trouble. Hou Jue, ever playful, joked about their own wedding, promising to behave.

Inside the venue, Hou Jue spotted Zhu Dapeng and brought up a past incident involving streaking. Shortly after, Lan Qi arrived, and Wu Shiyi was whisked away by friends to take pictures. Hou Jue then intercepted Lan Qi, attempting to engage him in conversation. Lan Qi, clearly keen to join Wu Shiyi, was reluctantly dragged to the restroom by a persistent Hou Jue. There, they coincidentally encountered Zhu Dapeng.

As Zhu Dapeng exited, he ran into Wu Shiyi, who was looking for Hou Jue, and he awkwardly pointed towards the restroom. Both Lan Qi and Hou Jue then emerged, with Lan Qi genuinely complimenting Wu Shiyi on how beautiful she looked. Hou Jue, however, playfully told Wu Shiyi that they'd just had a "party" in the restroom, with the theme being "Wu Shiyi's ex-boyfriends," all of whom were "top talent."

During the wedding ceremony, the host invited guests to share their blessings. Hou Jue eagerly volunteered, assuring Wu Shiyi that he had important things to say and wouldn't cause a scene, despite her clear concern. Taking the stage, Hou Jue began by congratulating the newlyweds, Fan Sha and Jiang Xiyuan, wishing them a lifetime of happiness and many children. He then revealed that he was Wu Shiyi's friend and proceeded to make a heartfelt public confession.

He spoke of a girl he had spent a lot of time with, realizing his deep affection for her. He couldn't bear to see her suffer but also enjoyed teasing her. He confessed his love and expressed his desire for her to be a part of his life's every moment, through every peak and valley.

He then directly asked Wu Shiyi to be his girlfriend, emphasizing that his feelings were serious, unlike any of his past "unreliable" actions, and that it was his greatest fortune to meet her. The crowd erupted in cheers, urging Wu Shiyi to accept. When Wu Shiyi hesitated, the host prompted Hou Jue to repeat his question. He reiterated his love, stating that meeting her was his greatest fortune, and once more asked her to be his girlfriend.

As the crowd continued to chant for Wu Shiyi to accept, Li Xuemei unexpectedly took the stage. She introduced herself as Zhu Dapeng's wife and, to everyone's surprise, announced to him that she was pregnant and he was going to be a father. She then passionately declared that she and their baby would always stand by his side, no matter who stood against him. This dramatic announcement caused a stir among the guests.

Wu Shiyi then gracefully stepped forward, offering heartfelt congratulations to the newlyweds. She also extended her sincere wishes to Zhu Dapeng and Li Xuemei, hoping they would walk hand-in-hand through life and that their baby would be healthy and happy. On the way back, Hou Jue praised Wu Shiyi's noble character, admiring how she had stepped in to help her ex-boyfriend in such an embarrassing situation.

Wu Shiyi clarified that she simply wanted to prevent further awkwardness at her friend's wedding. When Hou Jue pressed her about his confession, Wu Shiyi became flustered, stating that the matter was "in the past" and a relationship between them was impossible. Hou Jue, suspecting Lan Qi might be the reason, asked if that was the case. Wu Shiyi denied it, explaining that company policy forbade romantic relationships with clients.

Hou Jue tried to suggest they could keep it a secret, but Wu Shiyi insisted it would still violate the rules. When Hou Jue asked if she would have accepted if there were no such rule, Wu Shiyi remained silent. Later, Sister Zhang, having learned of Hou Jue's rejected confession, consoled him. She suggested that his proposal might have been too sudden and assured him that Wu Shiyi would eventually understand his true feelings.

She urged him not to give up, playfully threatening him if he did. Meanwhile, Wu Shiyi received a message from Lan Qi, which included photos from the wedding. The pictures evoked a memory for Lan Qi of a New Year's Eve party when Wu Shiyi first enrolled, a moment he held her hand and confessed his feelings as the bells chimed, a night he would never forget. Wu Shiyi read the message but did not respond.

At a company meeting, three designers—Bao Xiaohan, Ding Dali, and Zhou Hehong—presented their proposals for the prestigious Ruiji International Hotel project, a significant bid for Zhirong Construction. Hou Zhirong encouraged open feedback. One executive expressed concern about the lack of innovation in the designs. Hou Jue, however, openly praised Bao Xiaohan's proposal, noting that it thoroughly addressed all client requirements with exceptional detail, despite Hou Jue not being directly involved in the project. Bao Xiaohan thanked him for his support.

After hearing all the comments, Hou Zhirong acknowledged the designers' efforts but ultimately deemed all three proposals "unacceptable," citing a lack of "soul" and rushed execution. He demanded revisions within five days, or even three, emphasizing his desire for designs with "soul." Following the meeting, Hou Zhirong summoned Hou Jue to his office, accusing him of intentionally undermining the senior management and himself. Hou Jue maintained that he genuinely believed Bao Xiaohan's plan was superior.

Hou Zhirong then revealed his true intentions: his public criticism of the designs was a calculated move. He planned to subtly steer the senior executives to reject the other proposals, eventually allowing Hou Jue to present a slightly modified version of Bao Xiaohan's plan as his own, thus securing the project and fame for himself.

He saw the other designers as "cannon fodder," explaining that such a major project for the Ruiji Hotel, a coveted opportunity, should remain within the family. He wanted Hou Jue to achieve success to bring honor to the Hou family, fearing that independent designers might leave once they gained recognition. Hou Jue, disgusted by his father's manipulative strategy, declared that he only sought integrity and straightforwardness in his actions.

Outside the office, Wu Shiyi asked Hou Jue if he regretted opposing everyone in the meeting. Hou Jue reaffirmed his belief that Bao Xiaohan's design was genuinely good. Wu Shiyi agreed, commending his courage to speak his mind, calling his actions not just right, but "particularly good." Bao Xiaohan then approached Hou Jue and Wu Shiyi, expressing his gratitude for Hou Jue's endorsement. He also shared an internal rumor that Hou Zhirong secretly admired his design.

Later, Wu Shiyi mentioned returning the clothes from Amy's styling studio, but Hou Jue insisted she keep them, explaining that they were not expensive due to Amy's business partnerships and suggested Wu Shiyi could simply treat Amy to dinner as a thank you. Later, a despondent Hai Xing called Hou Jue, asking to meet for drinks to vent. He complained about his unrequited pursuit of a "goddess" (Qian Qian), feeling like a "toad trying to eat swan meat."

Hou Jue encouraged him to persist, arguing that sincerity could move people. Wu Shiyi, unaware of the specific girl, advised Hai Xing to be realistic and consider giving up on a hopeless endeavor, emphasizing that love isn't always achieved through effort alone. Hai Xing revealed his rival had a commercial car, a large villa, and access to a five-star club. Wu Shiyi candidly remarked that given such competition, she wouldn't choose Hai Xing either.

She also added that sincerity should be demonstrated through actions, not just words. Hou Jue tried to argue that many women still value sincerity, but Hai Xing countered, questioning whether Hou Jue himself relied on sincerity or money with his relationships. Ultimately, Hai Xing sought Wu Shiyi's direct advice, to which she reiterated her belief that love is not something one is guaranteed to obtain through sheer effort.
