The supposed kidnapping of the Stilan College students is revealed to be a military training exercise orchestrated by their teachers, much to the students' frustration. An Chuxia demands the promised 500,000 yuan from Han Qilu for ensuring his safety during the drill, but he reneges on their deal. Meanwhile, Jiang Yuanyuan, Han Qilu's mother, seeks out An Chuxia's mother, An Shuya, to express her gratitude for An Shuya agreeing to donate a kidney to her husband, Han Liuhai.
The situation escalates when An Chuxia receives a call from Feng Shao that her mother has been in an accident, while Han Qilu learns a kidney has been found for his father. When Han Qilu makes an insensitive remark about her situation, a distraught An Chuxia punches him and storms off. In her final moments, An Shuya asks Jiang Yuanyuan to take care of An Chuxia until she graduates and marries.
Jiang Yuanyuan promises to treat her like her own daughter, and An Shuya passes away peacefully. Han Qilu and An Chuxia rush to the hospital, where Chuxia is devastated to see her mother's body being wheeled out of the operating room. Jiang Yuanyuan warmly welcomes her, but Chuxia feels out of place. That evening, Han Qilu confronts her, offering her a blank check to leave. An Chuxia refuses, insisting she is only staying to honor her mother's wish. Later, Han Qilu falls asleep while looking at An Chuxia's pendant. An Chuxia sneaks into his room to retrieve it, but as she reaches for it, the sleeping Han Qilu unconsciously pulls her into his arms, resulting in an accidental kiss.
She flees in a panic, leaving Han Qilu to wonder why he didn't have his usual allergic reaction to a girl's touch, questioning if she might be his exception. The next morning, after transforming her appearance into a more refined look, An Chuxia plans to leave. However, at breakfast, Jiang Yuanyuan announces that Chuxia will enroll at Stilan College as Han Qilu's fiancée.
