Following Lu Jing's return to Liang Chen's side, he tries to take her out for hot pot, but she sends him home, claiming she feels unwell. Back in his dorm, Lu Jing finds his roommates slacking off during exam week. They jokingly ask him for advice on pursuing famous celebrities, prompting a motivational speech from him about self-improvement.
Meanwhile, Liang Chen receives a call from a friend who, after inquiring about Ma Shan Shan's recent breakup, asks how things are with Lu Jing, to which Liang Chen replies that their relationship is going well. Elsewhere, Gu Fei Ming desperately asks Lu Jing for help with a game. He admits he has been posing as "Box Spirit," Lu Jing's gaming alias, to impress a girl named Qi Qi, and is now on the verge of being exposed.
Lu Jing refuses to play for him, stating his girlfriend would be upset, and advises Gu Fei Ming to either cheat or confess the truth. Nearby, Lu Jing overhears his other roommates, Zhou Zhou and Liu Er, whispering about their past misunderstanding where they wrongly believed Gu Fei Ming was Box Spirit. When Lu Jing confronts them, they rebel against his strict dorm rules, complaining about his regimen of early mornings, exercise, and long study hours.
They threaten to leak a photo of him and Liang Chen unless he complies with their demands, which include washing all their dirty socks and taking them to Liang Chen's upcoming performance. Left with no choice, Lu Jing takes a large bag of socks to Liang Chen's apartment. She initially refuses to let him use her washing machine but relents after his dramatic pleading, and he agrees to bring his roommates to her show.
At the venue, Liang Chen's assistant, Yuan Ke Ke, leads the roommates to prime seats. While they marvel at their view, Ke Ke privately remarks to Liang Chen on how cute and transparently excited the boys are. During the show, Ke Ke recognizes Lu Jing as the famous gamer "Herman" and asks for his autograph, telling him how lucky Liang Chen is. She then promises the roommates she will arrange autographs and a group photo with Liang Chen.
After the performance, the roommates are disappointed that Liang Chen didn't get first place, but Lu Jing explains it is a strategy to lay low before winning the championship. Since Liang Chen left early to avoid fans, Lu Jing takes his roommates to a restaurant where she is waiting for them. At the restaurant, the roommates have Liang Chen sign their T-shirts with humorous personalized messages, and Lu Jing gets his shirt signed as well.
They then gather for a group photo, with Lu Jing taking the picture. Later, Lu Jing arrives at Liang Chen's home disguised as a delivery driver, joking that he needs a side job. Sensing she is upset, he offers to buy her favorite buns from a popular shop with a notoriously long line. After waiting for over two hours, he returns with the food, only for Liang Chen to accuse him of using her for artistic inspiration for a play.
Lu Jing assures her he already knows her story, which only angers her more. She tells him to leave, expressing regret for taking him to the concert, which he slept through. Soon after, a news report announces that Liang Chen's ex-boyfriend, Lin Qi, is getting married. That night, Lu Jing gets a call from a bar to pick up a heavily intoxicated Liang Chen.
She has an emotional breakdown, lamenting her inability to feel genuine joy or laugh despite making others happy for a living. She confesses her feelings of numbness, her lost dreams, and her belief that everyone, including her best friend, is mocking her. She challenges Lu Jing to laugh at her before he gently takes her home. The next morning, Liang Chen asks if he thinks she's a joke.
He lightly dismisses her drunken words as "nonsense" and promises to always be there for her, more reliable than any delivery service. That evening, he visits again to inform her that he will be busy preparing for a big data competition and won't be able to see her as often, cheekily telling her not to miss him too much.
