She later met with the show's director, Ma, explaining that she had hit a creative roadblock and desperately wanted to break through to rediscover her initial passion for music. Director Ma agreed to consider her for the competition.
Soon after, Ma Shanshan visited Liang Chen, bringing a souvenir from a school event Liang Chen had missed. Their conversation turned to "The Journey of Music Lovers", and Liang Chen invited Ma Shanshan to join her band, reminiscing about their unfinished college song. However, Ma Shanshan tearfully declined, explaining that she could no longer engage with music. It constantly reminded her of a painful past relationship with Lin Qi, making every note an unbearable trigger for traumatic memories.
Meanwhile, Liu Yiqing informed Liang Chen that rival singer Meng Lan Zhi also intended to compete on "The Journey of Music Lovers". Liu Yiqing suspected Meng Lan Zhi had heard about Liang Chen’s plans and was deliberately creating a rivalry for publicity, a tactic Liang Chen found tiresome.
