To secure the chance to present flowers to Liang Chen at the university homecoming, Lu Jing strikes a deal with Gu Fei Ming. Knowing Gu Fei Ming is avoiding playing games with his crush, Qi Qi, for fear of exposing his mediocre skills, Lu Jing offers to play on his behalf. A desperate Gu Fei Ming agrees, trading his on-stage spot for Lu Jing's help. Playing as Gu Fei Ming, Lu Jing's impressive skills stun Qi Qi.
However, his performance is so good that Gu Fei Ming panics, worrying he won't be able to live up to the new standard. To rectify this, Lu Jing comically eliminates himself in-game. The next day, Liang Chen tells her assistant, Ke Ke, that she is done with gaming. When Herman (Lu Jing's online persona) messages her to play, she lies about injuring her hand.
He then invites her to watch his livestream; she reluctantly agrees and is caught by Ke Ke, who teases her for being dishonest. Later, Ke Ke asks if Liang Chen's former classmate and fellow celebrity, Ma Shan Shan, will be attending the homecoming. This sparks a flashback to their younger days when they were close friends who vowed to support each other's dreams of becoming a top singer and producer.
As the homecoming event begins, Lu Jing’s friends meticulously style his hair, dubbing him the "Takeshi Kaneshiro of Nanze University." Meanwhile, Liang Chen is anxious before her performance, looking for the boy she recognizes. During a pre-show photo session, Lu Jing approaches her for a picture while holding a box doll. Liang Chen remarks that the doll looks familiar.
Seeing he's lightly dressed, she asks if he is cold, to which he confidently replies he isn't, as he is "full of vigour." Later, on stage after Liang Chen's performance, Gu Fei Ming fakes a stomach ache, allowing Lu Jing to take his place. Instead of flowers, Lu Jing presents Liang Chen with the doll, explaining that the real roses weren't ready.
The sound of his voice strikes Liang Chen as incredibly familiar, making her suspect he is Herman, but he is hurried off stage before she can confirm. Afterwards, Ke Ke gushes about the handsome student and playfully accuses a flustered Liang Chen of having a crush. As they leave, Liang Chen slips on the slick floor. Lu Jing rushes to her side to see if she is hurt. She reassures him she is fine and quickly gets into her car.
