Synopsis
In Beijing during the 1990s, a small inn witnesses the tumultuous lives of young dreamers from all corners of China who flocked to the capital.
Xu Shengli, obsessed with scriptwriting, faced constant rejections but never gave up; Zhuang Zhuang, a singer yearning for the grand stage, struggled to survive through commercial gigs; Shen Ranran, aspiring to land leading roles, navigated the glitz and tough choices of showbiz; Tao Liangliang, a gifted saxophonist, played for passersby under bridges to fulfill his musical dreams; Guo Zongbao, an extra with a love for the arts, took on odd jobs to earn money for his sick wife and child; and Cao Ye, a painter craving recognition, brimmed with avant-garde ideas that went unappreciated.
They fought hard for their dreams, yet reality often proved harsh and unforgiving. As the millennium turned and a new era dawned, some clung to their aspirations while others were forced to let go—but the spark of art never died in their hearts...
