Xue Wenxi, disguised as Wen Bin, excitedly told Feng Chengjun that her books were selling exceptionally well, prompting his congratulations. However, Wen Bin then cautiously brought up Han Shumin, explaining that she had been deeply hurt and depressed since Feng Chengjun's previous rejection. Wen Bin, feeling sympathetic, had already promised Han Shumin to arrange a meeting between them. Feng Chengjun found Wen Bin's unsolicited interference both amusing and frustrating but ultimately acquiesced.
Soon after, a delighted Han Shumin learned of Feng Chengjun's agreement to meet. Eager to improve his impression of her, she went to the market with her maid, Xiao Qin, to meet Feng Chengjun and Wen Bin. During their outing, Han Shumin instructed Xiao Qin to distract Wen Bin, allowing her to spend time alone with Feng Chengjun.
Wen Bin, observing Han Shumin, realized she did not appear as distraught as Yu Lexuan had claimed and understood that she had been misled once again. Thinking quickly, Wen Bin approached Han Shumin and fabricated an urgent message from Principal Feng, using it as an excuse to pull Feng Chengjun away. Upon learning that Principal Feng had not sought them at all, Feng Chengjun became annoyed at Wen Bin's readiness to lie.
He turned to leave, but Wen Bin desperately apologized, following him closely. Just as they turned a corner, they encountered Mu Xiao Man, who was overjoyed to see Wen Bin and eager to reminisce. Feng Chengjun attempted to excuse himself, but Wen Bin, in a moment of panic, hugged him around the waist to stop him. Arriving at the tavern, they were informed it had been entirely reserved by a wealthy young lady. Wen Bin saw this as an opportunity to escape, but Feng Chengjun, unexpectedly curious, insisted on going inside. They entered only to find themselves face to face with the patron: Han Shumin. Caught in an awkward situation, Feng Chengjun reluctantly took a seat, and Wen Bin joined him with a strained smile.
Throughout the meal, Mu Xiao Man showed great affection towards Wen Bin. Witnessing their closeness, Feng Chengjun raised a toast, wishing them eternal love, leaving Wen Bin in an incredibly uncomfortable position. As the evening progressed, an intoxicated Han Shumin brought up old matters concerning Mu Xiao Man and her brother, Han Shengzhi, speaking rudely to Mu Xiao Man. Unable to tolerate this, Wen Bin stood up and challenged Han Shumin to a drinking duel.
Feng Chengjun, exasperated, criticized Wen Bin for behaving like a petulant girl, unaware that Wen Bin was, in fact, a woman. Later that night, Feng Chengjun and Wen Bin climbed back into the academy over a wall, where they inadvertently witnessed Mr. Li Hu being doused by a bucket of water. Unbeknownst to them, this was a trap set by Lei Zexin to test if Li Hu was the mysterious martial arts expert who had previously sent him a message.
Li Hu's clumsy failure to avoid the water led Lei Zexin to conclude that he possessed no such skills. Xue Wenxi found her feelings for Feng Chengjun becoming increasingly perplexing. She would gaze at his sleeping profile and instinctively reach out to straighten his collar. Confused and unsettled by her own actions, she remained oblivious to her developing crush on him.
The following day, during literature class, the teacher asked Feng Chengjun and Wen Bin to read the poem "Quince" aloud. As Wen Bin recited the verses, which expressed tender affections, she felt an intense shyness, adding to her internal turmoil.
