Hello, My Shining Lover Episode 39 Recap
> Hello, My Shining Lover Recap
Du Guruonan discussed with Ji Mo the serious troubles facing Wing Fashion. She revealed that Zhao Yucheng had offered to spare Ji Mo’s company if she would date him, but she firmly refused, reiterating her unwavering commitment to Ji Mo and her belief in his abilities to win this battle. Ji Mo expressed regret that he couldn't protect her from complicated matters, wishing she could live a pure life without the burdens she now carried.
Du Guruonan assured him not to worry, stating that as long as he was by her side, nothing felt like a burden. When he asked what he could do, she simply asked him to hold her hand and stay with her, to which he promised he would never let go. Meanwhile, Chen Fei'er, aware of Ai Li's relationship with Lin Jia, initiated a meeting with Lin Jia.
Although she stated that she and Ai Li had broken up, she emphasized her desire for him to be happy and not to be hurt again by "the wrong person." Lin Jia, in turn, promised she wouldn't let Ai Li down. Chen Fei'er admitted that she was too willful in the past and didn't deserve Ai Li's kindness, believing they were from different worlds and some things, once missed, are gone forever.
Ai Li, still clearly distracted and longing for Chen Fei'er, was observed by Lin Jia to be absent-minded whenever they met. He confessed to Lin Jia that he didn't know what was wrong with him.
It was then that Lin Jia revealed to Ai Li that Chen Fei'er had previously visited her to share specific advice on how to care for Ai Li: not to be his patient if she liked him, to avoid overeating because he worried, to accept his confession immediately, to hug him when he showed concern, not to act tough, to express happiness when he kissed her, not to test her feelings for him because by then she'd be in love, and to bravely declare him her boyfriend, "the best boyfriend in the world."
Chen Fei'er had also lamented that love can be fragile, easily lost, and never found again, urging Lin Jia to love him completely, unlike herself who only regretted after losing him. Overwhelmed by his feelings and these revelations, Ai Li then confronted Chen Fei'er, who was eating junk food. He scolded her, reminding her of her health, but she retorted that he was no longer her doctor.
She admitted that she couldn't eat junk food anymore because it always made her think of him, describing him as a "fly in my mind, disturbing me." Chen Fei'er then told him to go, suggesting he should be with his girlfriend, Lin Jia. Ai Li quickly clarified that Lin Jia was not his girlfriend and that he had ended things with her before coming.
He then confessed that he couldn't forget Chen Fei'er, calling her the "one in my mind who just won't go away." When prompted, he admitted that seeing her made his heart race and his legs weak, leaving him unable to express himself. Unable to give a clear answer when she asked if he still liked her, he panicked and ran off. Despite his cowardly retreat, Chen Fei'er was left overjoyed.
As Ji Mo worked to salvage Wing Fashion, he instructed his assistant, Alan, to publicly disclose technical patents related to design and fabric technology, announcing their immediate use in the next season's production to boost the company's stock. Samantha, Zhao Yucheng's sister, believed that even if Ji Mo succeeded, her brother would still have further moves, certain that Ji Mo couldn't withstand Ruiqi's financial power. She intended to beg Zhao Yucheng to spare Ji Mo, but Du Guruonan intervened.
Du Guruonan argued that such an appeal would not only be futile but would also humiliate Ji Mo, whom she believed would never accept a concession. She expressed her absolute trust in Ji Mo's capability to devise a solution and declared that even if he lost, she would help him make a comeback, viewing life as a "high-stakes gamble" worth taking. Samantha, surprised by Du Guruonan's unexpected boldness, commented on how different she was from her initial impression.
Since Du Guruonan's departure, Sida had been despondent. Shen Qiansha noticed that he was still upholding Du Guruonan’s strict standards for his daily costume preparation. President Lu later visited Sida, praising his recent acting improvements and noting Shen Qiansha's maturity. He casually mentioned that Du Guruonan had previously visited him to advocate for Sida, offering her extensive network and resources to promote Sida's drama if Sida was featured in the promotional materials.
She had even warned President Lu against alienating her over another artist, emphasizing the long-term impact on his industry connections. Sida was shocked, realizing he had been unaware of Du Guruonan’s efforts on his behalf. Alone with Shen Qiansha, Sida expressed profound regret, feeling he had done wrong by pursuing her and forcing her away. Shen Qiansha reassured him that liking someone isn't wrong, but acknowledged that his feelings were unrequited.
She encouraged him, implying he already knew how to rectify his actions. Ji Mo later urged Du Guruonan to return to Yuxing, reminding her that Sida’s feelings for her were not a choice, and that she was the "best remedy" for his heartache, a duty she owed as his manager. He emphasized that Yuxing was where she truly belonged, where her dreams lay, and where she shone brightest.
Du Guruonan questioned if protecting Wing Fashion was also a dream, to which Ji Mo confirmed that both Wing Fashion and she were his dreams, and he would dedicate his life to protecting them. Although Du Guruonan was still on probation under Ji Mo's challenging terms, she affirmed her commitment to him. Following this, the company's boss announced a new talent director.
Sida vehemently opposed the decision, arguing that the role required exceptional skills and deep knowledge of every artist, implying that only one person was truly qualified. To Sida’s ecstatic surprise and the cheers of his colleagues, the boss introduced Du Guruonan as the new talent director. Sida rushed to congratulate her, expressing how much he had missed her. Du Guruonan, however, firmly stated that with her return, their relationship would henceforth be strictly professional—manager and artist.
Sida, saddened, asked if she still hadn't forgiven him. She clarified that she never blamed him, but simply couldn't reciprocate his feelings, acknowledging his love for her was one-sided. He confessed to thinking of giving up countless times but struggled to stop loving her. As a last wish before she officially started, Sida asked for a day-long date with her, a "farewell ceremony" to help him finally move on and focus solely on his career.
Recalling Ji Mo’s earlier advice about being Sida's best remedy, Du Guruonan agreed. Ji Mo called Du Guruonan to invite her to dinner, but she declined, stating she had a date. When he pressed for details, she playfully asserted her "dating freedom" and refused to reveal the identity of her date. Sida began their date by promising it would be private, fulfilling his fantasies for their "first and last date."
First, he took her on a motorcycle ride to see the city's scenery, explaining that experiencing a city's beauty with a loved one creates a true sense of belonging. He shared his simple dream of a domestic life with her: driving around, walking hand-in-hand through alleyways to buy groceries, and cooking for her, a life he wanted to protect her in. Du Guruonan found his aspirations endearing. Next, to avoid paparazzi, Sida had them don mascot costumes.
Holding hands, they wandered through a park. Sida, deeply moved, leaned in to kiss her through the costume, considering it his first proper kiss and also his last. He reflected on using all his courage for this final, willful act of saying goodbye, confessing silently that he loved her. Finally, Sida led Du Guruonan to the restaurant where he had once worked after abandoning his acting dreams.
He had booked the entire place for her, a mirroring of her past support for him. Surrounded by photos chronicling their journey—from fashion shows to celebration parties—Sida acknowledged these memories had shaped him. He then performed "Strong Woman," confirming it was written for her. He reminisced about her strict but inspiring guidance as his manager: her rules, her belief in his ambition, and her determination not to let his dream fade.
Sida declared his ambition to grow quickly and become a man she could rely on, apologizing for past troubles and expressing his wish for her to find someone who would let her freely express her emotions. He vowed to become a shining star. Later, Du Guruonan visited Ji Mo in his office, bringing him late-night snacks. Ji Mo, still reeling from her earlier phone call, confronted her about her date. Du Guruonan playfully feigned having a new boyfriend.
Ji Mo, however, saw through her pretense, observing her expressions and tone. Du Guruonan then clarified that she had spent the day with Sida, fulfilling Ji Mo's own suggestion to help Sida resolve his emotional turmoil. Ji Mo, feigning exhaustion and jealousy, demanded his own "healing," asking her for comfort.
Du Guruonan tenderly embraced him, promising to be his "power bank" and stay by his side forever, as he confided that with her, he had the motivation to continue even if he lost everything. Meanwhile, Shen Qiansha anxiously asked Sida about his whereabouts the previous day. He simply replied that he had been "sorting out my feelings."
