Qiu Dong praised Mr. Qin as a straightforward, friendly, and gallant man who had accepted them without prejudice after their departure from Senwell. He expressed his belief that Xu Ziqian and Mr. Qin would become good friends.
Mr. Qin noted the long-standing connection between Xu Ziqian and his company, Marv. They all raised a toast to Xu Ziqian, expressing confidence that under his leadership, Senwell would embark on a new chapter. The individuals backing Mr. Qin intended to use Xu Ziqian to depose Shan Junhao from his leadership position at Senwell, a goal they now saw realized.
At the board meeting, with Zhang Minghan and other directors present, the prevailing sentiment was that Shan Yaolong’s actions had brought disgrace upon Senwell, necessitating a new direction. It was affirmed that the position of chairman traditionally falls to the shareholder with the largest stake, leading to Xu Ziqian’s unanimous election. Xu Ziqian acknowledged his new role, stating that his father would be proud and he would lead Senwell into a new era.
When it came to selecting a general manager, Xu Ziqian outlined the demanding qualities required for the role, including strategic oversight, visionary insight, and team leadership. He then declared that, as no existing individual within the group met these criteria, he would concurrently assume the position of general manager. This decision deeply disappointed Zhang Minghan, who later confronted Xu Ziqian, questioning if his pursuit of revenge had transformed him into a power-hungry individual.
Xu Ziqian dismissed the accusation, stating his disinterest in power and reiterating his explanation from the board meeting. Meanwhile, Xu Ziqian received an urgent call from his assistant, who reported that Fan Yunyi had been found unconscious outside the Shan Residence and was being taken to the hospital. Earlier, Fan Yunyi, accompanied by a young girl, discussed going to Maimai Hamburger for promotions and free Wi-Fi.
Yunyi encouraged the girl to seek daytime employment if she was singing at night, but the girl countered that singing was her work and preferred a life of curiosity and freedom over the predictable nature of security. Soon after, Yunyi saw a news report about the police investigation into Shan Yaolong for annexing Xu Yifeng's shares and staging a yacht explosion.
The report detailed Shan Junhao's transfer of Xu Yifeng's shares to Xu Ziqian and his relinquishing of all inherited shares, noting his refusal to comment and the freezing of his assets. Alarmed by the news, Yunyi decided to return to the Shan family. The young girl, concerned, warned her about facing unhealed emotional wounds, but Yunyi insisted she had to go, worried about them. The girl advised her to always prioritize her own well-being.
Ye Qianyu brought Shan Junhao and his mother, Mrs. Shan (Jiang Caiyue), to Guanmei Inn. Mrs. Shan was still reeling from recent events and initially expressed a desire to stay elsewhere. The Guanmei residents, including Jinzhi Mama, offered their welcome, though Jinzhi Mama's initial greeting to Mrs. Shan was somewhat reserved. Chen warmly welcomed them, offering them prime seating.
The locals joyfully greeted "Tonghao" (Shan Junhao's nickname among them) and openly admired Mrs. Shan's elegant attire, playfully speculating on its cost. Mrs. Shan, overwhelmed, eventually left the dining table. Jinzhi Mama expressed her frustration at Mrs. Shan’s demeanor, but Shan Junhao quickly intervened, apologizing and explaining his mother’s exhaustion and lack of appetite. Mr. Tang, another local, offered a sympathetic perspective, acknowledging that anyone would struggle to eat or sleep after such upheaval, which softened Jinzhi Mama’s stance.
Shan Junhao, concerned for Fan Yunyi, inquired about her whereabouts but was told she had not yet been found. Shan Junhao apologized to Qianyu for his mother's poor attitude, but Qianyu was understanding, comforting him that it was normal for his mother to be upset given the recent events, and advised him not to frown, or his good luck would vanish.
Playfully, Shan Junhao picked her up, claiming that by holding her, his good luck would not run away, and then carried her to the car to take her home. Later, Qianyu offered Mrs. Shan a sleep-inducing soup made by Chen, but Mrs. Shan initially refused, citing a lack of appetite. However, Mrs. Shan then requested a bowl, saying she was thirsty, found it palatable, and requested another.
Qianyu then asked if Mrs. Shan liked her room, mentioning Shan Junhao had designed it. Mrs. Shan gave a lukewarm response, saying "it's OK," and expressed a desire to rest. Soon after, Mrs. Shan confronted Qianyu, blaming her for Yunyi’s departure and for entering Shan Junhao’s life. Qianyu apologized, asserting she never intended for things to unfold this way, and offered to help find Yunyi. Mrs. Shan retorted that she would never forgive Qianyu if anything happened to Yunyi.
Jinzhi Mama, observing that Mrs. Shan had completely finished the breakfast Qianyu delivered, expressed her happiness and affirmed her support for Qianyu’s choice of Shan Junhao. At the hospital, a doctor informed Xu Ziqian that Fan Yunyi’s collapse was due to low blood sugar and she only needed rest and proper nutrition. He also confirmed that her eyes had fully recovered some time ago, with the blood clot that had compressed her optic nerve having dissolved without any lasting effects.
However, the doctor noted that Yunyi was suffering from depression, poor appetite, and sleep disturbances due to mental stress, recommending psychological counseling. Upon waking, Yunyi's first thoughts were of Shan Junhao and her mother, asking about their well-being and location. Xu Ziqian reassured her that they were fine in Guanmei and urged her to rest. Yunyi then questioned the truth of the news about her father.
Xu Ziqian, who had searched frantically for Yunyi during her disappearance, confessed that her absence had ignited his deep resentment towards the Shan family, leading him to expose the yacht incident to Xie Quan. He also felt immense guilt, believing the wedding incident and Yunyi's running away were his fault, and swore to protect her from further harm. He then advised her to put the past out of her mind and focus on resting.
Later, at Xu Ziqian’s home, Yunyi lamented the loss of her family home. Xu Ziqian comforted her, asserting that his home was now her home and that she could always rely on him. When Yunyi again brought up her mother and Shan Junhao, Xu Ziqian adamantly told her not to mention them, recounting how Shan Yaolong had killed his parents and nearly him, and how Shan Junhao had repeatedly hurt her.
He maintained that they would lead better lives without the Shan family, again pressing her to rest. He continued to care for her, reminding her of the doctor's diagnosis of malnutrition and reiterating that his house finally felt like a home because she was there, and that she could rely on him forever. Meanwhile, Mrs. Shan continued to express her strong disapproval of Qianyu, telling Shan Junhao that she could not accept Qianyu until Yunyi returned.
Shan Junhao attempted to mediate, urging his mother to be less confrontational. Fan Yunyi, having slipped away from Xu Ziqian, arrived secretly at Guanmei Inn. Mr. Tang spotted her and quickly brought her to Mrs. Shan. Yunyi and Mrs. Shan shared a tearful reunion. Mrs. Shan, overcome with emotion, apologized for her past insistence on Yunyi marrying Shan Junhao, acknowledging the immense pain it had caused, and affirmed that a family reunion was paramount.
Shan Junhao then arrived, rushing upstairs to see Yunyi, bypassing Qianyu. Yunyi, seeing Shan Junhao, inquired about his future plans. Shan Junhao explained his intention to stay in Guanmei for a while and seek employment, ensuring their livelihood. This revelation deeply upset Yunyi, who angrily surmised his decision was because of Ye Qianyu. Ye Qianyu, attempting to ease the tension, brought them scented tea and announced that dinner would be ready shortly.
Yunyi, however, sharply rebuked her, telling her not to "pretend to be nice." Shan Junhao, caught in the middle, asked Qianyu to leave. Realizing that Shan Junhao and Qianyu were now together, Yunyi erupted in anger, accusing them of destroying her marriage and her life, and questioned how they could so shamelessly be together after causing her such pain. Mrs. Shan, witnessing Yunyi's distress, vowed to stand by her.
Just then, Xu Ziqian arrived, furious, and forcefully declared his intention to take Yunyi away. Shan Junhao intervened, reminding Xu Ziqian not to let his personal hatred poison Yunyi. Xu Ziqian curtly retorted that he knew how to care for Yunyi and didn't need Shan Junhao's concern, before leaving with her. As Yunyi departed, Mrs. Shan sorrowfully warned Shan Junhao that if Yunyi could not overcome her emotional wounds, he and Ye Qianyu would not receive their blessings.
She emphasized the importance of living with a clear conscience, even if they chose not to live by others' expectations. Shan Junhao, deeply affected, assured Qianyu that he would handle these matters and asked for her trust.
