Fated Hearts Episode 13 Recap
> Fated Hearts Recap
Princess Feng Xiyang offered Xia Jingshi a sweet dessert she had made herself, but he confessed he was not fond of sweets. She apologized for not inquiring beforehand, then informed him that their wedding had been set for ten days later. As a gift, she presented him with the only keepsake her birth mother had left her: a two-piece jade pendant, one for each of them, which her brother had told her was her dowry.
Feng Xiyang hoped it would bless him with a lifetime of peace and well-being. She also clarified that her brother, Feng Suige, forcing him to stay in Susha was not her wish. After their wedding, she vowed to do everything in her power to persuade her father to let them return to Jinxiu, asking him not to harbor any resentment or suspicion towards her.
She declared that from that day forward, she would always stand by him as his wife and his steadfast supporter, never breaking her promise, regardless of whether their nations were at war or peace. Xia Jingshi thanked her for her kindness and suggested she return to her quarters, as it was getting late. A subordinate informed Ning Fei that Military Advisor Xiao had been captured by Feng Suige.
Ning Fei, concerned, asked to see His Highness Xia Jingshi immediately, but the subordinate relayed that Xia Jingshi was aware of the situation and wished to defer all discussions until after the wedding. Meanwhile, another subordinate reported to Feng Suige, speculating that Jinxiu’s undercover guards had forced Fu Yixiao out by threatening children, as they could not act within Yujing City. The subordinate believed that only Prince of Zhennan Xia Jingshi had the authority to command Jinxiu’s undercover guards.
Fu Yixiao stood with an arrow aimed, suggesting her intent to kill Xia Jingshi. Feng Suige remarked on her fierce desire for vengeance. Fu Yixiao accused him of orchestrating the capture of Xiao Weiran and revealing everything to Ning Fei, branding his methods as vicious and toying with the bond of the Three Heroes of Jinxiu. Feng Suige challenged her to suggest a better way to uncover the truth.
Fu Yixiao told him to let go, asserting her affairs were none of his concern, but he insisted on making them his. Fu Yixiao revealed that since her fall from the cliff, her life’s purpose had been to uncover who wanted her dead and why. Her alliance with Feng Suige was solely for revenge, with only one question remaining: why Xia Jingshi sought her life. Once their agreed task was complete, their association would end.
Feng Suige shared his own painful past, recounting how his mother was murdered, his father remarried, and how his nursemaid and tutor, whom he trusted, tried to kill him. He concluded that he understood the pain of betrayal and that merely surviving was paramount. Afterward, Fu Yixiao bandaged Feng Suige's injured hand, though she stubbornly refused to admit it was an apology, claiming he was simply being nosy. Feng Suige teased her for her "defiant" apology.
Ling Xueying attempted to care for a drunken Ning Fei at Zhengnian Hall, but his wound had reopened and was bleeding. Shunzi explained that Xiao Weiran had directed them to Ling Xueying. Despite his deteriorating condition, Ning Fei insisted on visiting Xiao Weiran in the patrol unit's prison. A guard informed Feng Suige of Ning Fei’s arrival, which Feng Suige interpreted as Ning Fei finally "figuring things out."
In the prison, Ning Fei confronted Xiao Weiran about the person who supposedly witnessed Fu Yixiao’s fall. He realized that pulling back the patrol units that day had been part of Xiao Weiran’s scheme and angrily demanded to know why he tried to kill Fu Yixiao. Xiao Weiran countered by asking Ning Fei if he would kill Fu Yixiao if Xia Jingshi ordered it, presenting the agonizing choice between Jinxiu's grand cause and military obedience versus brotherhood.
Xiao Weiran confessed that he kept Ning Fei in the dark to spare him the "heart-eating pain," admitting his betrayal of Fu Yixiao and his deserving of hell, but stressed that Ning Fei was not involved. Fu Yixiao, having overheard the entire conversation, entered the prison. She acknowledged Xiao Weiran’s words about a subordinate's duty to serve their master, then declared they should no longer torment each other.
She fondly recalled their shared childhood as orphans, fighting side by side and protecting each other, affirming that their past bond was real, and that was enough. She then distributed a roasted sweet potato among the three of them, just as they did in their youth. Fu Yixiao then revealed that she never actually liked sweet potatoes but had eaten them only to spare their feelings. Now, she declared, she would no longer have to pretend.
With that, Fu Yixiao dramatically severed their ties, proclaiming that the "Three Heroes of Jinxiu" were now strangers, their brotherhood broken, and that Jinxiu's cause would no longer concern her. She vowed that whatever Xia Jingshi’s motive or sinister plot for trying to kill her, she would ensure he would not succeed and would make him pay. Ning Fei, distraught, chased after her, pleading with her to reconsider and claiming Xiao Weiran was forced by Xia Jingshi.
He even offered to stab Xiao Weiran in retaliation. Fu Yixiao dismissed his efforts as futile, stating that they could not go back, and none of them were the people they once were. Overwhelmed, Ning Fei collapsed, spitting blood. Feng Suige's subordinate reported that their recorded conversation confirmed Fu Yixiao’s earlier suspicions: Xia Jingshi had secretly conspired with a Susha insider after the Battle of Pingling, leading to a confrontation with Fu Yixiao.
The subordinate added that Xiao Weiran remained imprisoned, awaiting Xia Jingshi's demand for his release, and mentioned Ning Fei's severe, poisoned injury. Ling Xueying, attending to Ning Fei, explained that the arrow was poisoned and had been left in for too long, causing the poison to reach his heart and lungs. She tragically stated that even her father, Lord Ling, would be unable to save him, and Ning Fei had only two or three days left.
Deeply pained, Fu Yixiao listened to Feng Suige's advice not to confront Xia Jingshi directly. Instead, she bought a black coffin, regretting that she had doubted Ning Fei, realizing his innocence, and lamenting the harsh words she had spoken. She recalled Ning Fei’s childhood dream of the three of them having a peaceful home, away from conflict, and hoped the coffin would provide him with that final sense of home. A subordinate informed Xia Jingshi about Ning Fei's critical condition.
Xia Jingshi inquired about the timing of the prison meeting and whether Fu Yixiao had been present. He then instructed his subordinate to deliver a letter to Xue Yan, ordering him to rescue Xiao Weiran at all costs, even if it meant using the marriage alliance as leverage. Feng Suige, upon learning that Xia Jingshi had only inquired about Ning Fei's condition without taking further action, remarked on Xia Jingshi's heartlessness towards his sworn brother.
His subordinate worried this would demoralize their troops. Feng Suige revealed his true intention for leaking Ning Fei’s status: to gauge Xia Jingshi's commitment to the marriage alliance. Xia Jingshi's muted reaction confirmed his reluctance to jeopardize the alliance. Feng Suige further clarified that the marriage alliance was initially proposed by Emperor Xia Jingyan, and Xia Jingshi was merely exploiting it to retrieve Fu Yixiao.
Ling Feng, the Master of Zhengnian Villa, arrived at Zhengnian Hall, which Ling Xueying had audaciously acquired by charging the Susha Emperor’s account, much to her father's fury over the incurred debt. Feng Suige requested Ling Feng to examine Fu Yixiao. Ling Feng diagnosed her hand injury and the amnesia caused by a cranial blood clot, assuring her that both could be treated, with her severed tendons reattached and the clot slowly resolved.
Fu Yixiao, however, knelt and pleaded with Ling Feng to save Ning Fei. Ling Feng initially refused, citing Ning Fei’s terminal condition and his policy of not challenging the King of Hell, fearing it would tarnish his impeccable medical reputation. Ling Xueying also tearfully implored her father. Feng Suige intervened, instructing Yun Fang to restrain Ling Feng.
Under duress, Ling Feng performed the Seven-Aperture Acupuncture, temporarily sealing Ning Fei's heart meridian and controlling the poisoned blood, thereby extending his life for a few more days. He then disclosed the existence of a clandestine place with a secret "blood replacement" technique that could save Ning Fei’s life. However, he warned, anyone saved by them must swear a blood oath to serve them for life and never betray them.
Fu Yixiao, desperate, readily agreed, emphasizing that life was more precious than anything. Since Ning Fei was an orphan and she his only family, she offered to be his guarantor. Ling Feng sternly cautioned her that if Ning Fei were to betray them, she would be obligated to repay his debt of gratitude with her own life. Fu Yixiao accepted without hesitation, asserting their bond as family for life. Ling Feng then instructed a subordinate to swiftly draft the contract.
He further explained that this secret place could save anyone not already "claimed by death." He provided a map for Feng Suige's subordinate to transport Ning Fei there, emphasizing that the subordinate must be blindfolded and ask no questions during the journey. To facilitate Ning Fei's new life, he also staged Ning Fei's death with a coffin, allowing him to leave his past conflicts with Jinxiu and Susha behind. Xiao Weiran was brought before Xia Jingshi.
Xia Jingshi asked if he was curious why Feng Suige had released him, revealing that he had sacrificed his opportunity to reclaim Fu Yixiao to save Xiao Weiran. Xiao Weiran replied that he should not have been saved, indicating a death wish, but Xia Jingshi retorted that he would rather kill Xiao Weiran himself than let Feng Suige do it. Xia Jingshi then questioned Xiao Weiran about his misdeeds.
Xiao Weiran confessed his failure to kill Fu Yixiao, arguing that she could not be spared, for her known capabilities would surely make her an obstacle if she lived. Xia Jingshi angrily rebuked Xiao Weiran for presuming to make decisions for him. Xiao Weiran humbly denied any resentment, claiming his actions were solely for Xia Jingshi's benefit, to prevent him from being cornered.
Xia Jingshi then admitted his own culpability for Xiao Weiran's predicament and his failure to protect Fu Yixiao, whom he acknowledged as Xiao Weiran's family. Xiao Weiran reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty, reminding Xia Jingshi of his oath to serve him with his life. Xia Jingshi, realizing Xiao Weiran's cover was blown and Feng Suige would be watching him, ordered him to immediately leave for the border to gather troops and await his escape and rendezvous.
Separately, Feng Suige’s subordinate inquired where Ning Fei was being sent and if it was related to Feng Suige's mother. Feng Suige cryptically replied that he would reveal details when the time was right, admonishing him not to ask further. The subordinate then asked about Fu Yixiao, reminding Feng Suige that she was the Red-Clad General of Jinxiu who nearly killed him with an arrow at the Battle of Pingling, an enemy. Feng Suige conceded that she "used to be" an enemy, leaving their current relationship ambiguous.
