Li Jing's subordinate reports that Xuan Nü has escaped to Yingzhou with a mortal. They have stationed people there to monitor her, ready to intervene if she endangers Princess Yan Zhi. Li Jing immediately questions why they would go to Yingzhou, suspecting they are after the Mythical Mushroom, and decides to personally go to Yingzhou to bring Yan Zhi and Xuan Nü back.
The subordinate further explains their hesitation to act, as Xuan Nü constantly carries the little prince, and they fear harming him in a confrontation. Li Jing, however, sternly declares that there is no such prince, as his child was already dead the moment he was born. He privately wonders why Xuan Nü continues to carry the child after having "fooled him for 70,000 years," admitting he doesn't understand her.
Xuan Nü, holding her ailing child, confides in Yan Zhi, asking if Yan Zhi considers her a lunatic. She laments that the Grand Purple Palace is a place of hatred and desires, trapping people in a cycle of irreversible mistakes. Xuan Nü recounts her past: as the youngest daughter, overshadowed by her elder sister's marriage to the eldest son of the Green Hill Fox Emperor Bai Zhi, and growing up feeling inferior to Bai Qian.
To escape an arranged marriage to a black bear sprite, she fled to Kunlun Void. She claims true love for Li Jing, admitting she "snatched away Si Yin's lover," which led to a series of mistakes and losing everything, yet Li Jing believed she only coveted the title. Later that night, as they camp, Yan Zhi remarks to Zi Lan about Xuan Nü carrying her sick child, noting it's "still scary."
She then reveals her identity as a Winged Tribe member. Zi Lan, unperturbed, admits he already knew, joking that he's never feared meeting a beautiful Winged Tribe woman. Yan Zhi questions why he insists on accompanying them to a dangerous place like Yingzhou. Zi Lan calmly states he fears what he doesn't know. Yan Zhi notes his eloquent speech, which Zi Lan attributes to listening to high officials as a constable.
Yan Zhi expresses her suspicion that Zi Lan is not a mere mortal, a thought Zi Lan dismisses as overthinking. Zi Lan then boldly confesses his love for Yan Zhi, surprising her. He adds that he knows she is Yan Zhi, Princess of the Winged Tribe and Li Jing's sister.
When Yan Zhi asks for his identity, Zi Lan promises to reveal it the next day, after they retrieve the Mythical Mushroom, asking her to let him protect her "one last time" as a constable. Yan Zhi agrees. The next morning, the trio arrives at the cave. Yan Zhi explains that Father God sealed four ancient ferocious beasts – Hundun, Qiongqi, Taowu, and Taotie – with half his divine power inside, along with the Mythical Mushroom.
She states that while a divine barrier prevents them from leaving, deep within the cave, nothing can stop them. Yan Zhi intends to enter alone, instructing Zi Lan and Xuan Nü to wait at the entrance and to leave with Xuan Nü if she doesn't return by nightfall. She promises Xuan Nü she will retrieve the mushroom to save her child. Refusing to let Yan Zhi face the danger alone, Zi Lan follows her inside.
Xuan Nü, believing she must obtain the mushroom herself, also enters. Inside, Yan Zhi confronts Zi Lan about why he followed her, to which he replies, "I'm a man. Does it make sense that I'm waiting outside of the cave?" Their conversation, however, alerts the ferocious beasts. As they battle, Yan Zhi is knocked unconscious. Zi Lan, fighting fiercely, declares his identity as the sixteenth disciple of Kunlun Void.
Just as Zi Lan is overwhelmed, Li Jing arrives with Winged Tribe soldiers. Li Jing calls out to Zi Lan, telling him to take the women out, implying he's there because of Yan Zhi. Xuan Nü, in a state of desperation, asks if Li Jing is also there for the mushroom to save their child. Despite Li Jing's insistence that she leave, Xuan Nü refuses, declaring she will not abandon her son.
Frustrated, Li Jing tells her to do as she wishes, but Zi Lan, prioritizing Yan Zhi's safety, carries the unconscious Yan Zhi out of the cave, leaving Xuan Nü behind. Zi Lan places the unconscious Yan Zhi outside the cave. Crown Prince Ye Hua suddenly appears, observing their injuries. He asks who disturbed the divine beasts, and Zi Lan informs him that the Winged Monarch and Monarchess are both inside, presumably seeking the Mythical Mushroom.
Concerned by the Winged Tribe's presence, Ye Hua creates a protective barrier for Zi Lan and Yan Zhi before entering the cave. Inside, Li Jing is still battling the ferocious beasts. Ye Hua joins the fray, swiftly defeating three of the four ancient beasts. The fourth, a Taotie, manages to escape. Ye Hua then retrieves one Mythical Mushroom and uses his power to destroy all the remaining ones on the cliff.
Unexpectedly, Xuan Nü, recovering slightly, seizes a sword and lunges at Ye Hua, crying out that the mushroom belongs to her son and she must save him. As Ye Hua turns to block her attack, the escaped Taotie suddenly reappears, violently tearing off Ye Hua's right arm. Enduring agonizing pain, Ye Hua kills the Taotie, but is left severely weakened, having lost an arm and much of his cultivation. Ye Hua, despite his grave injuries, brings everyone out of Yingzhou.
He then uses his remaining power to utterly destroy Yingzhou Island, submerging it into the Eastern Sea to eliminate all traces of the Mythical Mushroom and prevent future conflict. Yan Zhi awakens to learn that all other mushrooms are gone. She tearfully begs Ye Hua for a piece of the mushroom, arguing that although it's a Heavenly sacred item, her nephew has Heavenly Tribe blood and this is his last hope.
Moved by her earnest plea and kindness, Ye Hua shares one portion of the Mythical Mushroom with her. Severely wounded, Xuan Nü is taken out of Yingzhou by Li Jing. Yan Zhi gives Li Jing the Mythical Mushroom she received from Ye Hua, urging him to try it on their son. As Xuan Nü lies dying in Li Jing's arms, she faintly whispers that her feelings in the Kunlun Void mountain cave were sincere.
Li Jing, gazing at her, realizes that it has taken 70,000 years for him to truly see her face, and he reflects on their marriage as a tragic joke. Xuan Nü then succumbs to her injuries and dies. As Ye Hua prepares to depart, Li Jing, after attending to Xuan Nü's body, intercepts him. He asks if the Mythical Mushroom is intended to revive Mo Yuan. When Ye Hua implicitly confirms this, Li Jing warns him against it.
He explains that 70,000 years ago, Mo Yuan used his own spirit to seal Qing Cang within the Donghuang Bell. If Mo Yuan were to awaken, the spirit in the bell would vanish, potentially allowing Qing Cang to break free and unleash chaos upon the world. Ye Hua questions how Mo Yuan, who created the bell, couldn't control it.
Li Jing counters by asking how long the Donghuang Bell can last if Qing Cang's demonic power increases, and explains that he and his two siblings are a "venom" that fuels Qing Cang's power; each of their deaths increases Qing Cang's strength. He reveals his eldest brother died a few days prior, making Qing Cang's release even more likely.
Li Jing then questions why Ye Hua, who is engaged to Bai Qian and set to become Heavenly Monarch, would risk everything to fulfill Bai Qian's wish to revive Mo Yuan. Ye Hua calmly states that "High God Mo Yuan is Qian Qian's teacher. Saving him. . . has been Qian Qian's only wish for the past 70,000 years." Li Jing leaves him to make his own decision, implying the grave consequences.
Zi Lan, now fully recovered, is confronted by Yan Zhi, who reveals she overheard him announcing his identity as the sixteenth disciple of Kunlun Void during their battle with the beasts. Zi Lan admits it's a Kunlun Void custom. He then explains that he initially came to the mortal realm searching for his junior brother, Si Yin, after Li Jing claimed to have seen him.
Discovering Yan Zhi, a Winged Tribe princess, "pretending to be mute and managing a restaurant," he suspected her of plotting something and stayed to investigate. Yan Zhi clarifies she wasn't plotting but simply sought peace away from the schemes and conflicts of the Grand Purple Palace. Now that his suspicions are unfounded, Yan Zhi asks if he will leave. Zi Lan confirms he must return to Kunlun Void as all his senior brothers have gathered.
Yan Zhi, despite their differing statuses, admits she didn't want to give up on their connection. Zi Lan bids her farewell and departs, asking her not to follow him. On Kunlun Void, the celestial cranes cry out mournfully, startling the Second Senior Brother who tends to them. He recalls such an omen only occurring during High God Mo Yuan's great war with Qing Cang 70,000 years ago.
He then discovers Crown Prince Ye Hua, severely wounded and missing his right arm, at the entrance of the Grand Hall. Ye Hua, identifying himself, requests to use Kunlun Void's Pellet-Cultivating Furnace. The Second Senior Brother, despite his concern for Ye Hua's injuries, leads him to the furnace and leaves as requested, promising to keep Ye Hua's presence a secret.
Alone, Ye Hua places the Mythical Mushroom into the furnace, reflecting that he will refine his 70,000 years of cultivation along with the mushroom into a pill for Die Yong, which will allow his teacher, Mo Yuan, to awaken in less than three months. Exhausted and believing this is the last thing he can do for Bai Qian, Ye Hua pours his remaining energy into the task.
The next morning, Zhe Yan awakens to find a gravely injured Ye Hua, his right arm severed, at his Peach Blossom Forest. On the verge of collapse, Ye Hua hands Zhe Yan a pill and faintly requests, "Give this to Qian Qian," before losing consciousness. Zhe Yan exclaims at Ye Hua's self-sacrifice.
Observing that the Heavenly Crown Prince chose to come to him instead of returning to the Heavenly Palace, Zhe Yan deduces that Ye Hua wishes to keep his severe injuries and the circumstances hidden from the Heavenly Lord and the Nine Heavens. He retrieves a million-year-old lotus root from Green Lotus Pond to fashion a false arm for Ye Hua. Bai Zhen, witnessing this, questions if the false arm can wield a sword.
Zhe Yan explains it cannot even move; it is merely for appearance, so Ye Hua won't appear disfigured, especially when he marries Bai Qian. Meanwhile, Bai Qian has spent three sleepless nights diligently guarding the Soul-Gathering Lamp beside Die Yong's bed. On the third day, Die Yong awakens, remarking that he feels more energetic and stronger than he has in 600 years, eager to swim in the Eastern Sea. Believing Mo Yuan's spirit has successfully gathered, a weary Bai Qian decides she will finally rest for two days.
