After Bai Qian returned to the fox den to rest, Ye Hua sought out Zhe Yan. Zhe Yan, having anticipated his visit, was waiting. Ye Hua directly asked if Bai Qian’s slumber after her battle with Qing Cang 300 years ago was real, and if she had forgotten anything. Zhe Yan, realizing he could no longer conceal the truth, admitted that the story of her sleep was false.
Bai Qian had indeed forgotten something, appearing badly injured in the Peach Blossoms Forest on the very day Ye Hua jumped off the Immortal Execution Platform. Ye Hua, heartbroken, asked if Bai Qian had mentioned what she wished to forget before drinking the Love-Forgetting Medicine. Zhe Yan replied that she had not. Zhe Yan then speculated that the woman he had met at the Heavenly Palace, Su Su, must have been Bai Qian.
Ye Hua confirmed Zhe Yan's guess and explained how he recognized her. He recounted that when they reunited at the Eastern Sea, many of Bai Qian’s actions felt incredibly familiar. Later, seeing the indelible scars left by the Red Lotus Fire on her wrist, he became absolutely certain of her identity. Ye Hua then hesitantly asked Zhe Yan if Bai Qian had wanted to forget him because of Mo Yuan. Zhe Yan remained silent, offering no reply.
Ye Hua inwardly pondered that, compared to High God Mo Yuan, his few years of love with Bai Qian might have been nothing more than a tribulation she needed to overcome to become a High Goddess, a hindrance not worth remembering. Meanwhile, Xuan Nü was in a dismal dungeon, awaiting her execution the following day. A sympathetic guard, offering her a final meal, told her that the Winged Monarch had ordered her death.
Xuan Nü pleaded to see her son, and the guard informed her that the sick child was held in the adjacent cell and would be burned along with her corpse. Taking pity on Xuan Nü, the guard brought the child to her. Seizing the opportunity, Xuan Nü violently killed the guard, retrieved the cell keys, and, despite her failing eyesight, stumbled to Li Yuan’s cell. Li Yuan vehemently urged Xuan Nü to kill him.
He revealed that their father, Qing Cang, had placed a curse on his three children: each time one of them died, Qing Cang’s power would multiply threefold. Li Yuan then preyed on Xuan Nü’s deep-seated hatred for Bai Qian, asserting that only Qing Cang could help her achieve vengeance against Bai Qian, who had already become a High Goddess.
He instructed Xuan Nü to take a secret path to the Mortal Realm, find Yan Zhi, and, just as she had tricked the Kunlun Void, use her wiles to gain Yan Zhi’s pity. When Yan Zhi was unsuspecting, Xuan Nü was to kill her, thereby helping Qing Cang break the East Emperor Bell’s seal. Li Yuan also told her that a jade he possessed would burn when near Yan Zhi, guiding Xuan Nü despite her blindness.
He promised that once Qing Cang was free and learned of Li Jing's alliance with the Heavenly Tribe, he would seek revenge on Li Jing for Li Yuan. Xuan Nü, hardened by her suffering, used her hairpin to kill Li Yuan and took the guiding jade. From within the East Emperor Bell, Qing Cang felt his power surge from Li Yuan’s death and vowed to make the entire world suffer once he broke free.
An Earth God stationed nearby observed the East Emperor Bell's abnormal tremors and grew fearful. Clutching her ailing child, Xuan Nü stumbled towards Qingqiu, yearning to see her mother. However, her grotesque appearance made her hesitant, fearing she would frighten her. She hid in the shadows, overhearing her mother express bitter regret about ever giving birth to her, calling Xuan Nü a traitor to Qingqiu.
This rejection further fueled Xuan Nü's despair, transforming it into a searing hatred for Bai Qian, whom she blamed for her predicament. She resolved to find Yan Zhi in the Mortal Realm and kill her. As Xuan Nü left Qingqiu, she saw Li Jing waiting outside for Bai Qian. This sight ignited her fury, infuriated that he would allow her to be executed the next day while longing for Bai Qian's presence.
She reaffirmed her decision to find and kill Yan Zhi. The concerned Earth God rushed to the Heavenly Palace to report the East Emperor Bell’s anomaly, only to be informed that the Emperor was undergoing a tribulation in the Mortal Realm and would not return for another month. Forty days had passed, and he was expected back in about twenty days.
The Earth God returned to the East Emperor Bell, finding its unusual movements had ceased, and it appeared normal once more. Pondering if he had been mistaken, he decided to wait for the Emperor’s return to report his concerns. In the Mortal Realm, the Emperor and Virtuous Consort Chen (Feng Jiu) were out for a stroll when they were caught in heavy rain. Seeking shelter in a pavilion, the Emperor dismissed his eunuchs, instructing them to leave an umbrella.
He recalled Feng Jiu's story of her doting father who would never let her mother's shoes get wet in the rain. Inspired, the Emperor declared he would carry Feng Jiu back. Despite her protests, he insisted, and they walked through the rain under a single umbrella, their sweet reflections visible in the puddles. Feng Jiu, on his back, reveled in the tender moment.
Back in their bedchamber, the Emperor, with deep affection, asked Feng Jiu why, despite his prolonged favor, she had not conceived a child. Feng Jiu, feeling shy, did not have an immediate answer, and their love deepened. Meanwhile, other concubines complained to the Empress about Virtuous Consort Chen monopolizing the Emperor's attention.
The Empress calmly noted that the Emperor had also shown special favor to the Crown Prince's birth mother by building a temple for her and that Virtuous Consort Chen had saved his life, making his partiality understandable. Feng Jiu, still immersed in her blissful romance, was visited by Si Ming. Si Ming reminded her that now that she had captured the Emperor's heart, it was time to move to the next stage of his tribulation: causing him pain.
Feng Jiu was heartbroken, realizing her time with the Emperor was nearing its end, saddened by the thought of hurting him. Elsewhere in the Mortal Realm, Zi Lan was still searching for Si Yin. He stumbled upon Yan Zhi working at a wine shop. Learning that she was the owner and a mute, and remembering that her brother, Li Jing, had once mentioned seeing Si Yin, Zi Lan decided to stay close, hoping to uncover clues about his former master.
As he pondered how to remain by her side, an opportune moment arose when a local ruffian began to harass Yan Zhi. Zi Lan intervened, acting as a heroic rescuer, thus securing his place in her wine shop. Bai Qian and Ye Hua prepared to depart for the Nine Heavens. As they reached the entrance of Qingqiu, they found Li Jing still waiting.
Ye Hua excused himself to wait ahead, leaving Bai Qian to have a final resolution with Li Jing. Li Jing quickly approached, offering Bai Qian the Jade Soul, expressing deep regret for his past actions, and hoping it could atone for his mistake, thereby negating her need for heart’s blood to revive Mo Yuan. Bai Qian coldly informed him that Mo Yuan's immortal body no longer required her heart's blood, rendering the Jade Soul unnecessary.
She then recounted how, 70,000 years ago, she had given him her entire heart, even planning to convince her parents to allow their marriage. Yet, at the peak of her devotion, he betrayed her by having a tryst with Xuan Nü, delivering a crushing blow. Later, when her master passed away, she, with immense humility and courage, sought the Jade Soul from his Grand Purple Palace. Li Jing, she asserted, could never comprehend the profound courage it took for her to ask for his help then, nor the depth of disappointment he had inflicted upon her.
