Ah Li returned to the thatched hut, explaining to Ye Hua that he had gotten lost in the woods and encountered a snake monster, but was fortunately saved by an older sister. The woman who saved him introduced herself as Miao Qing, the younger sister of the Eastern Sea Water Monarch. Having admired Crown Prince Ye Hua for a long time, Miao Qing was overjoyed to finally meet him.

Ye Hua, grateful for her saving Ah Li, offered to grant her a wish. Miao Qing, blushing, expressed her desire to stay in the thatched hut to cook and wash for them whenever they visited. Ye Hua, unable to refuse her sincere request, especially after her courageous act, reluctantly allowed her to stay for ten days. Ah Li, however, was unhappy with this arrangement.

Though he was young, he sensed that Miao Qing had feelings for his father and worried that she might try to replace his mother. He confronted Ye Hua, who, with a heavy heart, revealed that the Soul Gathering Lamp was extinguished and his mother would not return. Ah Li refused to believe him, crying out that he had waited for his mother for 300 years and she would surely come back.

He then ran off, leaving Ye Hua in silent despair. Some heavenly attendants later discussed how Feng Jiu of Green Hill had disguised herself as Consort Su Jin to steal the lamp, leading to its extinguishing, and how Ye Hua had to let it go due to her status as the empress of Green Hill, niece of Bai Qian, and her closeness with Emperor Dong Hua.

They also remarked that the lamp could only create a similar person, not the real one, and perhaps it was better that it was extinguished. Meanwhile, Feng Jiu returned the Soul Gathering Lamp. When she went to see Bai Qian, her aunt informed her that the Eastern Sea Water Monarch had invited her to a banquet celebrating his newborn son. Feng Jiu was surprised, as Bai Qian rarely attended such events.

Bai Qian explained that her own mother had a difficult childbirth when she was born, and it was thanks to the Eastern Sea Water Monarch's midwife that her mother suffered less. She felt obliged to repay this great favor. In the Heavenly Palace, various deities gossiped about the Eastern Sea Water Monarch's extravagant celebration, which had caused him to miss several court meetings.

They were even more surprised that the reclusive High Goddess Bai Qian of Green Hill had accepted the invitation, granting the Water Monarch immense face. Many celestial beings had never seen Bai Qian, leading to much curiosity and expectation. Some also noted the Water Monarch's efforts to cover his Dragon Palace's lustrous coral tiles with water lily leaves, as Bai Qian has an eye disease and cannot stand bright light.

Later, Si Ming arrived to take Feng Jiu to the mortal realm to repay her debt of gratitude to Donghua. Worried that Bai Qian would not approve, Feng Jiu secretly asked Mi Gu to wait a few days before telling her aunt about her departure. Bai Qian, preparing for her own journey, asked Mi Gu for one of his tree buds, which could help her find her way if she got lost in the Eastern Sea.

Mi Gu, feeling down after Feng Jiu's departure, muttered about how long the "debt of gratitude" would take to repay. He also commented on Bai Qian’s fourth older brother’s repeated excuse of his Bi Fang bird throwing tantrums whenever Zhe Yan angered him, noting the bird had "escaped" more than ten times in the last 300 years.

Si Ming led Feng Jiu to a mortal palace, where he pointed out the emperor as Donghua's mortal incarnation, undergoing sixty years of tribulation at his own request. Si Ming then took Feng Jiu to the harem, explaining their plan: a Noble Lady Chen was destined to fall into a pond, become gravely ill, and pass away that very day.

Feng Jiu was to take her place, continuing her life as Noble Lady Chen to remain by Donghua's side and fulfill her wish to repay him. Si Ming described Noble Lady Chen's prior life in the palace as unremarkable, having seen the emperor only twice since entering, and suggested her early "release" from such a life was a blessing. At night, Si Ming checked on Feng Jiu.

While adapting to palace life was manageable, Feng Jiu's distinctive phoenix flower mark on her forehead posed a problem, as Noble Lady Chen did not possess such a mark. Si Ming worried it would draw unwanted scrutiny and speculation. The next day, as Feng Jiu pondered how to get closer to the Emperor, she was spotted by the Empress and other ladies-in-waiting in the imperial garden.

The jealous Empress, noticing the phoenix flower mark, declared it a "demonic flower" and had Feng Jiu's name removed from the roster of consorts permitted to attend the Emperor. Undeterred, Feng Jiu decided an "accidental" encounter might work, as she had read in her fourth uncle's novels about emperors falling for lower-status women.

She disguised herself as a palace maid and waited at a gate the Emperor was sure to pass after court, but he walked right past her without a glance. The Empress discovered her and, after scolding her, confined Feng Jiu to her courtyard, leaving Feng Jiu frustrated about how to repay her debt. Meanwhile, Sang Ji, the Northern Sea Water Monarch, sought out Zhe Yan, explaining that his pregnant wife, Shao Xin, had an intense craving for peaches.

Since Zhe Yan’s Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms was the only place in the Four Seas and Eight Wildernesses with peaches this season, Sang Ji boldly requested a few. Zhe Yan, after some playful banter, agreed to give him some for the sake of Sang Ji's father. Shao Xin, for the past three hundred years, had been trying to seek Bai Qian's forgiveness for marrying Sang Ji.

She visited the Green Hill fox den more than ten times a year, but Mi Gu consistently turned her away with cold words. Undeterred, she planned to try again after the Eastern Sea banquet. Bai Qian visited Zhe Yan, who proudly confessed to giving Sang Ji several "contraceptive peaches." Bai Qian was shocked, but Zhe Yan dismissed it, saying it would only temporarily prevent Sang Ji from having a fifth child for a few thousand years, causing no real harm.

Bai Qian then mildly chastised Zhe Yan and the Fox Emperor for arranging her engagement to Ye Hua, who was much younger and of a generation that should call her "ancestor," during her three-hundred-year slumber. Zhe Yan, acknowledging his fault in not consulting her, did not argue.

He also complained about the Heavenly Monarch's family, noting Ye Hua had taken Su Jin as a side consort whom he greatly favored and had a son, making their delayed wedding even more awkward. He worried Bai Qian would become a laughingstock and planned to discuss it with her parents. Bai Qian, however, was not in a rush to marry, stating she couldn't bear to heartlessly force herself into the marriage.

Later, Bai Qian dug up two jars of peach blossom wine that Zhe Yan had buried for Bai Zhen. She comfortably reclined under a peach tree and began to drink, noting Zhe Yan's true expertise lay in winemaking, not medicinal skills. Ye Hua and Ah Li arrived at the Eastern Sea. Ah Li earnestly told Ye Hua that he felt his mother would definitely return. Ye Hua, unable to shatter his son’s hope, secretly clung to the same belief.

That night, Ye Hua, knowing Su Su had loved the Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, went there alone, reminiscing about her amidst the blossoming trees, wondering if she missed the place. The Eastern Sea Water Monarch, aware of his sister Miao Qing's affection for Ye Hua, devised a plan. He advised her to perform a dance at the upcoming banquet and then, through him, request a private meeting with Ye Hua.

During the meeting, Miao Qing was to feign distress, claiming her brother was forcing her to marry the "hedonistic" second prince of the Western Sea. This, he hoped, would move Ye Hua to allow her to stay by his side as a maidservant, from which position she could later enchant him. He also provided her with a "Fresh Flowers Facial Moisturizing Cream" to enhance her performance.

As Bai Qian continued to drink the peach blossom wine, feeling a pleasant warmth spreading through her, she saw a young man in black robes enter the peach forest. A mischievous thought sparked in her mind to tease him.
