A fortune-teller attempts to steal Bai Qian's fan, claiming it's his ancestral heirloom and a powerful divine magical weapon, the Kunlun Fan of Yuqing. He challenges Bai Qian to describe the drawing on it, which she cannot. Yan Zhi, who is passing by, intervenes, recognizing the fan as belonging to a friend of hers and exposing the fortune-teller's deception. Yan Zhi demonstrates the fan's power by summoning wind, forcing the fortune-teller to apologize.

Yan Zhi then warns Bai Qian to keep the powerful magical weapon safe to avoid attracting trouble. She also remarks that Bai Qian's mannerism, particularly holding the fan to her nose, is strikingly similar to her friend, Si Yin, making her wonder if Bai Qian was Si Yin, were she not a woman. Bai Qian offers to give the Kunlun Fan of Yuqing to Yan Zhi, reasoning that since it belonged to Yan Zhi's friend, it should be returned.

Yan Zhi is grateful, and Bai Qian insists, stating she doesn't know how to use it anyway. As they talk, they feel an instant connection. Back in the mortal realm, Ye Hua, in his black snake form, falls into a deep sleep after returning to the Heavenly Palace to handle affairs. Bai Qian, noticing his prolonged slumber, wonders why the "little snake" would be hibernating in September, well before winter.

While handling imperial affairs in the Heavenly Palace, Ye Hua's Third Uncle, Lian Song, informs him of Su Jin's impending marriage to the Heavenly Monarch. Ye Hua shows little reaction. Lian Song then mentions that the Heavenly Monarch has begun discussing the elaborate etiquette for Ye Hua's upcoming marriage to Bai Qian of Qing Qiu. Ye Hua, however, questions the urgency, expressing that he doesn't want to rush the marriage. Ye Hua then leaves to find Si Ming Star Lord.

Ye Hua seeks out Si Ming Star Lord, questioning him about how a mortal like Bai Qian came to possess the Yuqing Kunlun Fan. Si Ming explains that after the great war, both High God Mo Yuan and High Immortal Si Yin's bodies disappeared without a trace. To silence widespread rumors that they had faked their deaths to elope, Emperor Donghua ordered the records to state that "the pair went into seclusion."

Ye Hua remains puzzled as to how Si Yin's weapon ended up in the mortal realm. Upon Ye Hua's return from the Heavenly Palace, his black snake form finally awakens. Bai Qian is overjoyed, showing him the vibrant red blanket Yan Zhi had given her. She then invites the little snake to share the blanket and her bed. Despite the impropriety, Ye Hua, unable to transform, has no choice but to comply.

As Bai Qian sleeps soundly, Ye Hua reverts to his human form. He gazes at the sleeping Bai Qian, lost in thought. Fengjiu, determined to repay a life-saving debt of gratitude to Emperor Donghua, decides to go to the Heavenly Palace and become his maidservant. She confides in Mi Gu about her intention to leave Qing Qiu for a few years to repay this kindness, stating that her father and the Fox Emperor would be furious if they knew.

She instructs Mi Gu not to reveal her true purpose, but instead to tell them she's traveling for experience. Before leaving for the Heavenly Palace, she entrusts Mi Gu with a scroll given to her by her aunt, emphasizing its importance and instructing him to deliver it to the Fox Emperor and Zhe Yan. Mi Gu delivers the scroll from Fengjiu to Zhe Yan, who immediately senses trouble.

He, the Fox Emperor, Fox Queen, and Bai Zhen gather to discuss its contents. Zhe Yan reveals the scroll contains the sealing method for the Donghuang Bell and states that the seal weakens every 70,000 years, a period that precisely matches the time Bai Qian left Peach Blossom Wood. The Fox Queen is distraught, believing Bai Qian selflessly sacrificed herself to re-seal the bell and that her spirit might have scattered.

Bai Zhen adds that Bai Qian, as Mo Yuan's disciple, would undoubtedly prevent Qing Cang from wreaking havoc, hence her likely journey to Ruoshui. Zhe Yan explains that Bai Qian left the scroll as a failsafe, implying she went prepared for her death. Overwhelmed by grief, the Fox Queen laments her decision to send Bai Qian to Kunlun Void.

Zhe Yan and the Fox Emperor reassure her, explaining that since no cosmic phenomena indicative of a High God's death have occurred, Bai Qian must still be alive, merely missing. They decide to actively search for her. Fengjiu attempts to enter Donghua's Tai Chen Palace but is blocked by guards. Feeling helpless, she is approached by Cheng Yu Yuan Jun, who is disguised as a man.

Fengjiu explains her purpose: to repay a life debt to Emperor Donghua by serving him. Cheng Yu, moved by her story, offers to help her become a maidservant. Having successfully become a maidservant in Tai Chen Palace with Cheng Yu's help, Fengjiu later encounters Si Ming Star Lord. She confides in him about how Cheng Yu assisted her.

Si Ming, though finding her method of repayment unconventional, reveals that Cheng Yu Yuan Jun is the beloved of Third Prince Lian Song. Fengjiu realizes that Cheng Yu's connections explain her ability to help. As Fengjiu prepares to deliver tea to Donghua in his study, she is confronted by Zhi Yue, Ye Hua's haughty cousin who harbors feelings for Donghua. Zhi Yue expresses disdain for new, pretty maids entering Tai Chen Palace.

She challenges Fengjiu's attempt to approach Donghua directly, citing strict Heavenly Palace rules. When Fengjiu mentions she is from near Qing Qiu, Zhi Yue dismisses her home as "barbaric." Zhi Yue then orders Fengjiu to learn the palace rules and, as a punishment, sends her to do menial chores, effectively preventing her from seeing Donghua. Fengjiu reluctantly complies, choosing patience in order to stay in Tai Chen Palace. Cheng Yu secretly visits Fengjiu to check on her.

Fengjiu, exhausted from her tasks, complains that she hasn't even seen Emperor Donghua. Instead, she was tormented by Zhi Yue, who demanded she learn proper manners and ordered her to perform arduous chores. Cheng Yu, identifying Zhi Yue as a difficult person, reminds Fengjiu of her own status as a Qing Qiu empress, encouraging her not to be intimidated.
