Lu Xingcheng, meanwhile, secretly watched a video of Xiaoyou dancing while drunk, finding it highly amusing. When Xiaoyou discovered this, she promptly offered to make him a bowl of beef noodles if he deleted the video.
Lu Xingcheng devoured the noodles, but when Xiaoyou suggested he participate in the Ye Mang gown design competition, he remained silent and retreated to his room. At the same time, Wen Xi messaged Xiaoyou, letting her know she was at Mu Yang's house. Xiaoyou found a drunk Mu Yang at home, having been relentlessly called by Wen Xi. Seeing Mu Yang in his inebriated state, Xiaoyou seized the opportunity to uncover the truth about Lu Xingcheng.
Mu Yang revealed that he and Lu Xingcheng were once close friends. Lu Xingcheng, a gifted designer, created the "Nikki" gown for his mother. Lu Xingcheng realized that Lu Ren's criticisms of CHIC and his aesthetics during his time as editor were deliberate attempts to push him back into design. Lu Ren nodded, confirming his intention, and prepared to leave. Feeling a wave of paternal affection, Lu Xingcheng called out "Dad," surprising Lu Ren, who then smiled. Later, Jiang Yan found Tong Xiaoyou and asked if Lu Xingcheng had mentioned their plan to go abroad together after the competition. Xiaoyou found this impossible, but Jiang Yan confidently asserted that Lu Xingcheng "owed her his life," which left Xiaoyou feeling uneasy. Meanwhile, Sarah Lin struggled to find a new job. Her past actions at CHIC magazine had become known, with legal authorities investigating her, making other companies hesitant to hire her.
The design competition continued intensely, with each contestant diligently working on their creations. Tong Xiaoyou carefully selected fabrics, and Jiang Yan meticulously cut patterns. Lu Xingcheng, however, stared blankly at his sketches. Seeing this, Xiaoyou offered words of encouragement. Lu Xingcheng then clutched a necklace given to him by his mother, seemingly finding inspiration, and finally began drawing his design. Sarah Lin called Tong Xiaoyou, requesting a meeting in the contestant village.
Xiaoyou agreed, and Sarah Lin sincerely apologized for manipulating her in the past. She clarified that her intention was not to gain sympathy, but to warn Xiaoyou about Jiang Yan. Sarah Lin revealed that Jiang Yan was capable of doing anything to achieve her goals, citing the earlier leak of the Yan Ge fabric issue and the cancellation of Xiaoyou's Fashion Cup qualification. After sharing these details, Sarah Lin left.
Xiaoyou thanked her for her honesty, and Sarah Lin stated she would no longer involve herself in pointless competitions, finding it more important to pursue what she loved, even if it meant starting anew. Lu Xingcheng sought out Lu Ren to discuss past events. Lu Ren confessed that Lu Xingcheng's mother was the only woman he ever loved.

Lu Xingcheng then went to Jiang Yan's room, telling her that his concern for her stemmed only from friendship and responsibility. Feeling wronged, she redirected her anger towards Tong Xiaoyou. Lu Xingcheng found Tong Xiaoyou and explained his relationship with Jiang Yan. He revealed that they were friends during their studies abroad. One day, their dormitory caught fire while Lu Xingcheng was exhausted from rushing a draft and overslept. Jiang Yan bravely rushed in to save him, sustaining the scar on her back in the process. Lu Xingcheng expressed his long-standing desire to make amends.
Hearing this, Tong Xiaoyou immediately embraced Lu Xingcheng, declaring that from that day forward, there would be no more secrets between them. Lu Xingcheng and Lu Yanzhi sat together on steps, drinking. Lu Yanzhi asked Lu Xingcheng what he liked about Tong Xiaoyou. Lu Xingcheng deferred to Lu Yanzhi, who then eloquently listed his reasons: her kindness, drive, and ability to face difficulties with a smile, which he admired.
Lu Xingcheng, however, declined to reveal his own feelings, stating he might never tell him. Lu Yanzhi wished Lu Xingcheng success in the upcoming finals, although he admitted he still hoped Xiaoyou would win, noting that Lu Xingcheng's chances seemed higher. Meanwhile, a heavily intoxicated Jiang Yan poured red wine over a white gown, then pulled out a lighter, intending to burn Lu Xingcheng's competition design. Tong Xiaoyou, coincidentally looking for Lu Xingcheng, discovered Jiang Yan's destructive plan.
Despite Xiaoyou's attempts to comfort her, Jiang Yan, consumed by love-turned-hatred, refused to put down the lighter, having completely lost her rationality. Jiang Yan expressed her belief that she hated Lu Xingcheng, not Xiaoyou, for making her feel pathetic and leaving her with indelible scars. She vowed that since he wanted a happy ending, she would ensure he didn't get one, intending to leave a permanent mark on his heart, just like the one on her body.
