On the wedding day of Yi Rongrong and Long Deshui, Long Deshui, dressed in military uniform, prepared to collect his bride, accompanied by Adjutant Zhang after Adjutant Hu feigned illness. Earlier, Gu Haitang had applied ointment to Lang Yueming’s face and then rushed to the Yi family residence. Upon noticing Lang Yueming had not worn his outerwear, she brought it to him, only to discover he had washed off the ointment.
Gu Haitang was stunned, realizing why his facial scars had shown no improvement, and he confessed his fear that she would leave him if his face healed. Heartbroken, Gu Haitang sternly rebuked him before leaving with her makeup box, although Lang Yueming later told her at the wedding that he would actively face his treatment.
Unbeknownst to Gu Haitang, while she was preoccupied, Lang Qingqing seized the opportunity to place a "secret recipe" or "poison powder" given to her by Miaolan into Gu Haitang's makeup box or powder. Separately, Long Mohua, exploiting the wedding distractions, either swapped a powder she had received from Xinqiao into Gu Haitang's powder box or covertly added an allergy-inducing powder to Gu Haitang's rouge. The wedding ceremony officially commenced after Gu Haitang finished Yi Rongrong’s makeup.
Shi Jizhou was among the guests, presenting lavish gifts. Yi Rongrong soon began to feel drowsy or groggy and retired to her room, calling Gu Haitang to provide a makeup touch-up. During this time, Yi Rongrong verbally abused Gu Haitang and mocked Lang Yueming’s appearance. Lang Yueming and Lang Qingqing arrived in the room and overheard the insults. Meanwhile, Shi Jizhou proposed to the Kunyang Chamber of Commerce members that Lang Sinian be removed from his position as president, a motion that was unanimously supported, despite Lang Sinian’s insistence that Langlichun was framed but his lack of concrete evidence. Overwhelmed by worry, Lang Sinian fell gravely ill, and the heavy responsibility for the Lang family now fell upon Lang Yuexuan.
Feng Chunyan, anxious for the family's reputation, urged Lang Yuexuan to quickly clear Langlichun’s name and even suggested paying Gu Haitang to take full responsibility, a proposal Lang Yuexuan vehemently rejected, vowing to uncover the truth himself. Separately, Shi Jizhou coerced Xinqiao, by threatening her father, to spread rumors defaming Langlichun for selling toxic products. Lang Yuexuan visited Gu Haitang in prison.
Gu Haitang, concerned for her mother and brother Gu Xiahe, was reassured by Lang Yuexuan’s promise to care for them. Gu Haitang repeatedly emphasized the importance of Lang Yueming applying his medicine daily. Lang Yuexuan asked her to meticulously recall the wedding day's events for clues regarding Yi Rongrong’s collapse, but the mixed powders at the scene made immediate investigation difficult. Gu Haitang suggested investigating Yi Rongrong’s physical constitution and specific allergies.
Lang Yuexuan later discovered that Yi Rongrong was in critical condition at the hospital, suffering from severe edema and difficulty breathing, still not out of danger. Gu Haitang deduced that such severe consequences must stem from causes beyond a simple powder allergy, and Lang Yuexuan pledged to swiftly uncover the truth and clear her name. Meanwhile, Lang Qingqing, terrified by the severe repercussions of her prank, including Gu Haitang's imprisonment and the widespread chaos, sought advice from Miaolan.
Miaolan advised her to remain calm and dissuaded her from confessing, explaining it would only further implicate the Lang family and irrevocably ruin Lang Qingqing's life, leading to incarceration. Lang Qingqing reluctantly agreed to stay silent. Later, Gu Xiahe was subjected to bullying at school, with classmates mocking him as the brother of a murderer. He got into a fight, but Lang Qingqing arrived and chased the bullies away.
Deeply remorseful, Lang Qingqing tearfully apologized to Gu Xiahe, admitting she had tampered with Gu Haitang’s powder by adding "poison powder." Furious, Gu Xiahe dragged Lang Qingqing to Lang Yuexuan, where she confessed to him. Lang Yuexuan asked for the remaining poison powder, but Lang Qingqing stated it had all been used. Lang Yuexuan, noting that the poison only induces drowsiness, suspected there might be an additional substance that caused Yi Rongrong's severe allergic reaction.
When questioned about the source of the poison, Lang Qingqing, recalling Miaolan's warnings, lied that she purchased it from an itinerant quack, unwilling to implicate Miaolan or the Lang family. Gu Xiahe insisted on taking Lang Qingqing to the police to self-surrender, believing it would secure Gu Haitang’s release.
However, Lang Yuexuan vehemently stopped him, arguing that a confession would not only confirm Langlichun's alleged involvement in selling toxic products, further enraging Long Deshui, but also harm Gu Haitang's case and condemn Lang Qingqing. Gu Xiahe, convinced that Lang Yuexuan was protecting the Lang family, angrily left, determined to save Gu Haitang by himself. Separately, Lang Yueming attempted to intervene by blocking Long Deshui’s car to advocate for Gu Haitang. Long Deshui disregarded him, ordering his driver to speed away. Lang's guards confronted Lang Yueming, beating him and accidentally knocking off his seashell mask, startling them.
