There were signs that the two bodies had been moved. Wu Yiren was holding a stone in his hand. Incense ash had fallen on the table, forming a date: the seventh day of the sixth month.

Li Bing asked Wang Qi to find the origin of the stone, but after asking many people, he learned it was just an ordinary stone. Wang Qi then casually threw it into the water tank. Regarding the date formed by the incense ash, Li Bing consulted the almanac and asked Cui Bei to find all personnel in the Court of Judicial Review whose birth dates and times matched the almanac's hints.

The next day, the group met up on the street and heard a melancholy zither melody. Li Bing followed the sound and found Kou Niang tied to the city gate, playing the zither. Li Bing quickly flew onto the city gate, untied Kou Niang, and was just about to pull her towards him when a cold arrow shot from within the room, directly piercing Kou Niang's throat. A piece of white paper also fell to the ground.
