Chen Shi went to the market to buy vegetables for cooking. When he passed by the salt shop, the clerk went back to the warehouse to get goods and found someone had died tragically on the salt pile. When Li Bing arrived at the salt shop with Mingjing Hall, the coroner Lao Bai had already examined the body. There were several knife marks on the deceased's arm, clearly indicating it was a homicide.

Since the deceased was a female, Wang Qi asked the salt shop owner if he had any connection with her. The owner hurriedly clarified himself. Li Bing noticed the skylight was open, and there was a ladder propped up outside the warehouse, suggesting the deceased likely climbed into the salt shop warehouse through the skylight. There were scattered bloodstains outside the salt shop.

Chen Shi followed the direction, but because it was in a prosperous area of Shendu, the bloodstains had long been covered by footprints. Li Bing took Chen Shi back to Court of Judicial Review to continue the autopsy. Wang Qi took people to inquire with the neighbors, and they heard children on the street casually singing a nursery rhyme: "The cat eats people, the thief leaves empty, the medicine fails, the cup fills with blood.

" Alibaba stopped a child and carefully wrote down the nursery rhyme. They found it strange that the first few events had already happened, and wondered if the last line, "the cup fills with blood," would happen soon. Wang Qi interrupted, suggesting they not worry unnecessarily and scare themselves. Lao Bai re-examined the body and determined the cause of death was excessive blood loss.

Based on the thick calluses on the deceased's hands, he guessed she was a seamstress, so he had Cui Bei draw a portrait to inquire in the neighborhood. Immediately afterwards, another murder occurred. The tea house owner, Wang Po, was found dead in the tea house's backyard by a storyteller. The cause of death was exactly the same as the female seamstress, with only neat rows of knife marks left on her arm.

Li Bing believed the two murders had something in common and ordered the two cases to be investigated together. Li Bing found the first deceased's tailor shop and learned her name was Zhao Erniang. Chen Shi felt that Wang Qi and the others had been acting strangely lately, being serious and not joking around.

Cui Bei, while sorting through the case files, found a female homicide case from two years ago with a similar cause of death to Zhao Erniang and Wang Po. Wang Qi led a team to Zhao Erniang's tailor shop and apprehended a man named Zhao Xun. At first, the man claimed he was Zhao Erniang's customer, but fearing being accused of theft, he admitted he was Zhao Erniang's son.

Zhao Erniang had never cared for him since he was a child, and it seemed she only recently had a change of heart and started taking care of him. Zhao Xun also implicated Niu Er from the gambling den. After finding Niu Er, he stated that Zhao Xun had borrowed money from him, and Zhao Erniang was the guarantor.

After inquiring with a client, it was learned that Zhao Erniang didn't have much money saved after opening her shop and didn't seem to care much about money after that. Half a year ago, an orphaned girl named Sun Xiaoying followed Zhao Erniang to learn tailoring. The client heard that she got married recently, which was probably when Zhao Erniang paid off Zhao Xun's gambling debts. Alibaba secretly found out that Wang Po was a human trafficker.

This connected Sun Xiaoying's disappearance to Zhao Erniang and Wang Po. Li Bing quickly found an account book in Wang Po's house, recording the time and price of Zhao Erniang selling Sun Xiaoying to Wang Po. He also asked the buyer, who said someone offered a higher price. Li Bing searched all the houses under Wang Po's name, and finally found Liu Er, the girl who was sold together with Sun Xiaoying, in a remote house near the city gate.

Liu Er told Li Bing that when they were being selected, the buyer actually chose people by smelling them. During transportation, they were intercepted by a masked man, and she was eventually rescued. The man was very disappointed when he discovered she wasn't Sun Xiaoying. Just as Liu Er finished recounting her experience, Court of Judicial Review received another report: twelve female bodies were found in the wilderness.

The coroner Lao Bai confirmed the cause of death, which was similar to the two murders today. The twelve bodies had been dead for a period spanning two years, and were all young women who had never been pregnant. They were likely used as blood slaves. While organizing the bodies to leave the wilderness, someone found an embroidered shoe, which, after being identified, was confirmed to have been worn by Sun Xiaoying.
