Yuan Wuhuo, now inhabiting Li Jie’s physical form, reveals his true strength. Since the body was originally crafted from a six-eyed butterfly, its potential has already reached the prestigious "Triple-flower" stage. With Yuan Wuhuo’s consciousness fused into it, the Triple-flower mark finally manifests. He mocks Lu Wuyi, noting that her body has reached its breaking point after countless time rewinds. He declares that it is a deity’s own arrogance, not a devil, that leads to their destruction.
Determined to succeed in this final chance, Lu Wuyi intentionally takes a hit from his blade to activate the Dragon Deity’s Power. Chanting the incantation for the dragon hearts to unite and all barriers to break, she finally brings rain to the parched lands of Luo'an. As the drought ends and Mu Long awakens, Lu Wuyi vanishes while being held by a devastated Ji Ling. Before leaving, the demon You Chi compensates Mu Long for her previously damaged manuscripts.
He presents her with a custom brush made from his own fur and promises to return for her, noting that he has tasked his clan members to watch over her. Delighted, Mu Long tells him she will use the brush to write his story and hopes to have it finished by the time they meet again. Inside the Scale Cave, Lu Wuyi wakes up, confused as to why her spirit hasn't dissipated.
Bai Ze explains that a hidden power protected her origin. However, Ji Ling, unaware of this and driven to despair by her apparent death, has been completely consumed by Lonescale (Ji Can). Reflecting on her journey, Lu Wuyi finally understands why demons long to be human. She realizes her only wish was a simple, mortal life with Ji Ling—working at sunrise and sleeping in his arms at night.
Meanwhile, Wu Shiguang prepares to head to the Dragon Abyss to find a solution for Ji Ling. He feels ashamed to face his brother, Chi Wen, because he lacks the fourth share of the Dragon Deity's Power and cannot transform into a dragon to destroy the Oracle Stone. Wu Wangyan comforts him, insisting that his value lies in his heart, not his lineage. She even expresses her willingness to sever her spiritual tail to stay by his side.
Touched, Shiguang braids a bracelet using their hair, swearing an oath of eternal protection. Eventually, Lonescale separates from the unconscious Ji Ling and approaches Lu Wuyi. He claims he never intended to deceive her and reveals that Ji Ling’s consciousness is currently trapped in a century-old nightmare. Lonescale offers to send Lu Wuyi back to that era, but warns her that she will only be a silent observer, unable to change the past.
Desperate to understand his pain, Lu Wuyi accepts. Transported back 150 years to the day of the Star Stone explosion, Lu Wuyi finds her spirit attached to a fox plush doll. She witnesses a young Yuan Wuhuo begging a blind little fox—the young Ji Ling—to save his dying brother, Yuan Xizai. Since the fox had already used up the magic given to him by the Dragon Deity to save Wuhuo, he can only watch as Xizai passes away.
Consumed by grief and anger, Wuhuo imprisons the fox in the Shilin Sect. Later, the fox doll is discarded but eventually floats down a river to Ji Ling’s prison. When Wuhuo discovers the doll and attempts to destroy it, Lu Wuyi’s spirit takes the blow. Her blood spills onto the doll, acting as a catalyst that causes the fox (Ji Ling) to transform into the likeness of Yuan Xizai.
Seeing his brother's face, Wuhuo cannot bring himself to kill the fox. Over time, the two form a deep bond. Wuhuo sews eyes onto the plush doll (named "A-Wu") for Ji Ling and shares stories of the happiness of New Year's Eve. Feeling guilty for failing to save the real Xizai, Ji Ling voluntarily offers to be Wuhuo's younger brother.
Their bond grows until Chi Wen arrives, seeking a candidate to swallow a dragon scale for a sacrificial mission to end the war. Believing Wuhuo is in danger, Ji Ling swallows the scale himself, intending to die in his brother's place to repay the life he "owed" him.
