Veil of Shadows Episode 26 Recap
> Veil of Shadows Recaps
As Bai Ze reaches the end of his life, he calls Ji Ling by his name for the very first time. Throughout their long years together, he had always addressed him formally as Master Dragon Deity, but in these final moments, he speaks as a companion who views Ji Ling as family. He expresses his pride in having guided Ji Ling and laments that he cannot walk the remainder of the road with him.
As Bai Ze fades away, he and Jican merge their remaining essence into a final strand of the Dragon Deity's Power, which flows into the Yuling Ring. Nearby, Lu Wuyi awakens, but she is now blind. Previously, she had severed her own spiritual tail to release her power, allowing her to speak through a doll and prevent Ji Ling from taking his own life; since her tail was linked to her eyesight, she sacrificed her vision for his survival.
Ji Ling pulls her into a tight embrace, and despite her loss, she softly comforts him, whispering for him not to be sad. At the Dragon Abyss, Si Feng and Hua Qi arrive just in time to deliver the Yuling Ring to Wu Shiguang. They explain that it contains the last of the Dragon Deity's Power to help him truly transform. However, Jiu Ying suddenly launches a brutal attack, leaving Wu Wangyan heavily wounded.
The sight of her falling causes Shiguang’s mind to waver, allowing Jiu Ying’s spirit fragment to seize control of his body. Under this dark influence, Shiguang moves to draw the Guili Sword to release the dragon's physical form. Hua Qi immediately acts, using her magic to form a barrier around Shiguang’s spiritual consciousness. This prevents Jiu Ying’s fragment from peering into the memories stored within him.
It is revealed that when Ji Ling originally entrusted the ring to Hua Qi, he explained that it carried not only power but also his own memories, which held a truth that Jiu Ying must never discover. While the bracelet Ji Ling gave Shiguang contained the Eastern Purple Lightning, it lacked a specific guide to target the spirit fragment.
Hua Qi’s natural ability to purify and drive out evil serves as that guide, allowing Shiguang the necessary time to complete his transformation without interference. As the battle intensifies, Si Feng sacrifices her life to hold off Jiu Ying. Within the river of Ji Ling’s memories, Shiguang finally sees the hidden truth of the past.
He learns that Chi Wen had once told Ji Ling that after Jiu Ying’s heads were swallowed, someone would need to use the Guili Sword to destroy the dragon body to end the threat forever. Since only a dragon can kill a dragon, the original plan was for Chi Wen’s soul to inhabit Ji Ling. However, fearing Jiu Ying would simply seize his empty body, Chi Wen instead used reverse scales to create the Dragon's Tenth Son—Shiguang.
Ji Ling’s long years of pretending to cooperate with Jiu Ying were all part of a calculated scheme to lead the demon to its own demise. Witnessing her senior sister Si Feng perish, Hua Qi is consumed by grief. Inside his own mind, Shiguang engages in a fierce struggle against Jiu Ying’s spirit. Just as he is about to falter, he hears Wu Wangyan’s voice calling to him.
Realizing she is still alive, his resolve returns, and he fully manifests his dragon form, appearing with a six-flower mark. With his body fully under his control, he finally holds the power to fulfill his mission. Relieved to find Wu Wangyan safe, Shiguang holds her close. The spirit of Chi Wen emerges briefly, looking upon his younger brother with pride and urging him to end the cycle of hatred by slaying the original dragon body.
Chi Wen accepts his own end as the only way to ensure Jiu Ying is truly eradicated. Meanwhile, Wu Wangyan honors Si Feng’s final wishes by comforting Hua Qi, encouraging her to live on and become a hero. At Wuxiang Moon, the fox tribe looks to the sky as a new prophecy appears, signaling the rise of a new dragon. Though they are confused by the Fox Queen's absence, the signs of a shifting world are clear.
Back at the Shilin Sect, Ji Ling remains by Lu Wuyi’s side. In the quiet of the Scale Cave, surrounded by the glow of red candles, they commit themselves to one another as husband and wife. Under the trees of the sect, Ji Ling brings her a bouquet of flowers. Even though Lu Wuyi can no longer see their beauty, she tells him that as long as he is by her side, her world is complete.
